On the other hand when our founding fathers in 1776 wrote the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights, our rights were then established. Our involvement in foreign affairs and foreign wars subsequently followed. So our rights had long been established already. This is what I mean by bad foreign policy: The politicians of today USE the word "freedom" for an excuse by saying, "They are fighting for our freedom ". Which is B.S. to the 10th degree. They have been lying to us for so long so they can start any war in the middle east to carry out their alternative agendas. Like control for oil, lithium, opium etc...... I agree that the United States policy makers (some)have hijacked the country to carry out agendas for the power of it and self interest. What does “take a knee” mean in military? In general, taking a knee in the military is a sign of respect or simply taking a rest while on a mission. It’s a gesture that many soldiers will participate in at the foot of a fallen friend’s grave and isn’t seen as a negative at all. Additionally, a soldier in the military might take a knee as more of a defensive maneuver. Getting on one knee allows the person to be in a better position, almost like at the start of a track meet, where they able to quickly run or pivot at the drop of a hat. With the recent news coverage claiming that kneeling during the national anthem is disrespectful to soldiers and veterans, some service members, especially within the Army find the uproar strange. In the Army, take a knee means that you’re pausing, taking a breather, and stepping back to consider a situation. By no means is it a disrespectful gesture. www.ourmilitary.com/take-a-knee-military-meaning/ P.S. *Stop trying to use us for both your political and racist agendas* U.S. Army Veteran 12 1/2 years Honorable Service MOS : 97B Counter Intelligence 14J ADA C4I Tactical Operator (PATRIOT) ODS Vet : Support Garrison OEF/OFI Vet : Deployed to Theatre No Political Affiliation

@@cammywammy420 You've obviously never served in the military and apparently not a patriot. Our flag is more than just a piece of cloth on a stick. Our flag is a banner of freedom, where men and women throughout the ages have died for. It's not about the flag itself, it's what it represents. Our flag has never represented racial or religious divide. The people are the ones who represent that and conform to that society. People are always crying and yelling about racial divide in this country and it's the people who do it. It's not one specific person, company or President who is responsible for this. It is the lack of respect American's have for each other. It's black people who cry injustice when they get pulled over because they are black, it is white people who cry racism when white people feel they can't be proud of their race, without being called White Supremacist. It's black people who can't stick up for a white person without being called an Uncle Tom by their own race. It's white people who can't stick up for a black person without being called a "N" lover by their own race. As Morgan Freeman once said during an interview when asked how he thinks we can get rid of racism and he said "stop talking about it". We divide ourselves by ourselves. There shouldn't be a "Black history month", it should be black history month, white history month, Asian history month, Hispanic history month...every month. There should only be ONE race and that is the human race. Should something be done about police officers who shoot down unarmed black people? Well, yes, if they are proven guilty. Rioting and taking a knee during the National Anthem is not a constructive way to deal with this. As stated, a lot of men and women have died under that banner. To them, their family members and their fellow brothers and sisters in Uniform, it is much more than a piece of cloth on a stick.

@@JasonT850 that flag has defended slavery, marched with the Klan, flew over Japanese internment camps, is on the arms of men and women who commit war crimes, is on bombs sold to Saudi Arabia who bombs children, and is on the arms of police officers who have shot people like Philando Castille who was legally in posession of a firearm. Morgan Freeman is wrong, to not talk about racism is to allow it to exist without resistance. Dont put your faith in what is quite literally, cloth on a stick.

@@cammywammy420..Hello, that cloth on a stick, started out as an idea to represent the people of the 13 colonies, which started this incredible country, then it stood for bravery, freedom, and strength that the people of that time would not allow anyone rule over them. Although this cloth on a stick, like the people of this country, it too over the years has been abused, used, misunderstood, burned, used by criminals, and buried. The cloth on a stick is more than that, it is a representation of this country's people who remember what those before us have done, gone through to try and leave a better country for their children, those who truly believe and care about this country will always have a Flag on a pole, and never give up the fight for freedom and our rights. The FLAG OF AMERICA IS MORE THAN A PIECE OF CLOTH ON A STICK, IT IS A REMINDER OF WHAT THIS COUNTRY HAS BEEN THROUGH OVER THE CENTURIES, THE BLOOD SHED, THE FREEDOM, THE INNOCENT, THE PEOPLE. Our constitution and bill of rights grants us and stands for the freedoms we enjoy, not a striped piece of cloth. Our first amendment grants us the freedom of speech which covers sitting for and even the burning of our flag. If I had a close family member die in combat I would be more offended by someone disregarding the core rights they were fighting for rather than someone exercising those rights.

Boycott sporting events that allow people from purchase food during the National Anthem and petition for concession stands to be closed during the anthem. 2.) Also, petition that no fans are let into the arena until the anthem is over. It’s ALL rhetorical because you just want submission and compliance to celebrate white symbolism pride. Francisco Duran Clear now? Last go around : What if the tradition is offensive to you but not to them, what if historically and purposely their traditional ways were non-inclusive of you and others because of your natural ethnicity/the color of your skin.... What if celebrating their traditions offends those in your direct and extended family, friends and those in your neighborhood and throughout the country of the USA? ------------------- The United States National Anthem gets glossed over, there’s 3 additional verses to the entire anthem and just because they don’t get sung does not change there both implied and direct meaning. 3rd verse of the anthem: “And where is that band who so vauntingly swore, That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion A home and a Country should leave us no more? Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” *Band : a company of persons or, sometimes, animals or things, joined, acting, or functioning together; aggregation; party; troop: *Vauntingly : to speak vaingloriously of; boast of: *Refuge : a place of shelter, protection, or safety. *Hireling : a person who works only for pay, especially in a menial or boring job, with little or no concern for the value of the work *Slave : a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them. -------------------- The Pledge of Allegiance : The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the socialist minister Francis Bellamy (1855-1931). It was originally published in The Youth's Companion on September 8, 1892. Bellamy had hoped that the pledge would be used by citizens in any country. Jim Crow Laws : 1877 In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. Jim Crow Laws still in effect legally in 1923 In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Brown vs. Board of education was a court case where the Supreme court made it illegal to have separate schools. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal to treat others differently because of the race, gender, color, religion and national origin. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 made it illegal to discriminate against people who wanted to vote. The combination of these major national laws led to the end of Jim Crow. Jim Crow segregation had pervaded every aspect of American society since the 1890s. And the military was no exception. When black men volunteered for duty or were drafted following the Japanese sneak attack, they were relegated to segregated divisions and combat support roles, such as cook, quartermaster and grave-digging duty. The military was as segregated as the Deep South. When black soldiers came home after the war still wearing the American uniform, they were brutalized by white people, by a white government who did NOTHING to the perpetrators. So yeah when it comes to the Flag.... miss me with that. My Grandfathers, my Uncles were disrespected during and after their service while pledging to up hold the u.s. constitution, honor the country and flag that didn’t represent them as full citizens simply because they were black men. The flag doesn’t represent black people as a whole even in 2020’. Black People are told they can leave the country, which is code to “go back to Africa” if the #takeaknee if they protest in ANY manner. White Americans who are racist owe us an apology, those who don’t consider themselves racist but stand on the sidelines and do nothing to better the injustice to non-whites.... you owe us an apology and need to help end systematic racism. America needs to change its racist, hateful political, economic policies. Black & Brown People need to come together and force change. Period Also, in 1954 Jim Crow Laws were still legal... During the creation, revisions of the pledge of allegiance.... Black People weren’t included, purposely. #BlackLivesMatter Once again to clearly state : 🖕🏽your flags {American & Confederate} 🖕🏽your anthem 🖕🏽 your statues & 🖕🏽your pledge Sincerely, U.S. Army Veteran 12 1/2 years Honorable Service ODS Vet Support Garrison OEF/OFI Vet Deployed to Theatre No Political Affiliation *P.S. We're not perfect, but we're still the greatest country in the history of mankind.
@web-angel6 жыл бұрын
@@gabbyhayes1568 there are indeed many ways to protest; however, the most effective ones are done in a way that garners the most attention to the issue being protested and there are fewer fora that do this than a nationally televised sports event. As to the idea that they're somehow disrespecting the flag or the anthem, that's disingenuous at best and an insidious distraction tactic at its worst. The very idea that the flag which is supposed to be representative of a country that claims to be the bastion of freedom, is being used to suppress said freedom is sad but not at all surprising. As for unity, if Americans can't unite behind the idea that the excessive use of lethal force against a subset of its population by state authorities is an issue that needs to be addressed, I don't know what will.
