I honestly think that Nuno hasn't put himself around enough pressure with crazy insanely good musicians. He avoided G3 tours like the plague sadly in his prime. He should have been put in a room with people like Marty who are super boundary pushers a looooooooong time ago. This was magic. I feel like they are having a conversation and their use of outside exotic notes whilst still being rock is ****ing sublime. Plus they maintain the melody and feel throughout in a way like it's a journey and not a jam. As Benny Goodman is a concept trained pianist I want him tearing up some arpeggios and lines at least in the outro. To maybe in a future song here a conversation with this level of guitar with high level piano would be beautiful and very different to what we are allowed to hear in conventional rock band music. This is closer to Transiberian Orchestra heavy metal opera music. Which to me like Queen with Hard Rock, that level of grandiosity is so rare and yet has a power that is hard to rival. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN I hope they do more together. FMLLLLLLLL.

Marty's take on the main theme from 5:44 to 6:10 is so good. The bends are great and you can tell it is Marty even if you didn't know he was in the song. Then his final solo is incredible and fits the song perfectly. Nuno's final solo from 5:03 to 5:43 is really good also.

That's bascially just playing a typical Buckethead lead but much slower
@TheNeuroticGuitarist3 жыл бұрын
@@xiyx9748 I think its hilarious you say marty sounds like a "typical buckethead lead," as much as I admire Buckethead: 1. Marty sounds like marty and if ANYTHING Buckerheas REMINDS you of Marty because he's the guy that invented what you attribute to buckethead 2. I know that buckethead would be horrified you comparing him to marty, why don't you say nuno sounds like the guy from periphery 😬
@TheJonz803 жыл бұрын
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist totally agree with this. To be frank a statement that suggests Marty has a similar style and sound with Buckethead is pretty dodgy. Marty's style has been ever evolving and i don't ever think he's lost the edge from the cacophony and megadeth days. I believe sometimes it's due to generation gap that the millennials never got to know these living legends and could only associate with the newer acts.
@TheNeuroticGuitarist3 жыл бұрын
@@TheJonz80 you nailed it. I had given the last record to a friend who said to me "this sounds like avenged sevenfold, my son agrees," to which I said "don't insult Jeff loomis." It sounds like dream theater or avenged sevenfold because the same people who influenced dream theater are the same people that influenced many of us and A7X is literally just a derivative of all the players on this. Not that I'm complaining, but its like saying van halen sounds like Andy James. OK. Andy James sounds like van halen. It's OK that he does, but remember who wrote the book. Marty wrote the book on much of this type of music and whether he's as shreddy as some of these super shredders or all of these hyper quantified technicians or not, he's the original. He's not new coke. He's classic coke and always will be. So I tip my hat to all of the amazing players out there, but I remember meeting buckethead in 1999 when he was doing his first run with primus. He would have flipped out if you said he was better than marty, he wrote for a guitar magazine for years as a columnist, HE KNOWS BETTER. He has respect for the history of where he came from and who showed him how to blaze his own trail. I consider myself a defender of the faith and I ALWAYS give credit where credit is due, but I think people need to realize the distinction between who sounds like who and to remember facts like if there were no marty, nuno, yngwie, skolnik, Becker etc there would never have been a buckethead, Andy James, Jason Richardson, John 5, and many of these other incredible players renewing the world's awareness of the magic of guitar.

@@TheNeuroticGuitarist Always nice to meet fellow Nuno fans! Which of his albums do you like best?
@TheNeuroticGuitarist3 жыл бұрын
@@atthecore4560 I mean, cmon, extreme ii was MY jam for the longest time, but I think musically and production wise iii was the best. I mean Brian May + orchestra....sounds almost like the premise of this band, minus one Dr. Brian May. Then you think...holy shit, Beethoven was playing Nunos solo to Play With Me in Bill & Ted and it just doesn't get much cooler than that. So I'm a fan of nunos playing before anything, and extreme ii will forever nostalgically be what I gravitate towards as an answer, but iii sides to every story is just a work of art. Theyre all great because Gary and Nuno are like another Tyler/Perry and they both have moonlit as they other in real life. So yeah...

@@TheNeuroticGuitarist Good choices. I'm on your level, but I'd reverse II & III. Personally, my favourite Nuno album would probably be his Mourning Window's album; Furnished Souls For Rent. That album totally rocks! War Paint is probably my favourite song by Nuno, but he rarely writes songs that aren't bangers, so my taste might changed based on mood lol.
@TheNeuroticGuitarist3 жыл бұрын
@@atthecore4560 I stopped listening after like 99. My brain just STOPPED caring about new music because that is about when I started recording full time. I was always listening to my own mixes or immersing myself in the music I was making or helping others make. So I never internalized any of those, but its nuno. Cmon. There really isn't a wrong answer

Nuno & Marty doing TERRIFIC fireworks!! Nuno it´s the perfect combo: rhythms & soloing : his part since 5:00-5:40 OMG!!!! What a HELL of a player!! & Marty melts and iceberg with that exqusite part since 6:40 until 7:00!!!! WHY these two didn´t do something together like this before? I know...Nuno has been elusive from "the shredders elite" from the last 30 years until "Generation Axe Tour" but c´mon! there´s no more time to waste Nuno!!! You´re one of the greatest guitar players ever. Like Marty, you know who are playing their parts. Unique sound. Both.

@@TheNeuroticGuitarist Agreed completely man!!! I think guitar it's having a genuine & passionate reborn at least since the last decade thanks partially to hundreds of incredible young players from Instagram or here on YT. I mean it's time to NOT be reductive with those guys anymore with such labels as "bedroom players" wt//f is wrong with that? I play almost everything in my room too now due the quarantine LOL. Look where Plini's now. A well deserved place btw. But for someone like me who grew up with guys like Nuno, Marty, Vito Bratta, Warren DeMartini, Ty Tabor, Lynch, Becker, Loomis, (and the list is ENDLESS), listening this guys playing together, as a fan is like a dream come true, in this case, especially from Nuno, whom slowly...seems to feel more comfortable with collaborations. I NEED A SECOND PART NEUROTIC! LOL This was an EARGASM!!! 😍💯❤🤟🏻👂🔥
