Customs is my nemesis in any country I visit including the Bahamas via boat. I’m a widower with a ten year old. Even traveling with death certificates and all the paperwork I need I’ve been treated like a child smuggler initially every place I’ve been. I do appreciate what they are trying to accomplish though-it just puts a damper on the first day. Really like your videos-thanks for putting them out there.

What if you are on the boat and duck but don’t check it? And do the same when you get back to the states would that be possible?

I travel from the states to Canada often and their border crossing laws and security checks are exactly the same as ours with the exception of one law, if you over stay they will actively look for you. Canada’s citizenships and work visa laws are a lot stricter than the states, a lot lol.

In 2002 I frequently crossed truck driving first thing I noticed when I went in to customs the people on the Canadian side wearing jumpsuits and a smile very polite very professional when I came back to the United States and I'm an American I had to pay $10 to get back into my own country border patrol r9mm full uniform in an M16 and very rude I asked him why I had to pay $10 to come back into my own country they proceeded to completely tear my truck apart no not at all the same BC Crossing coming back in

Weirdly enough I have a hard time finding videos about people taking their sport yacht/performance cruiser/blah blah to the Bahamas. I feel like they have this reputation as intercoastal princess boats that never see the open ocean, but it would seem they would be ideal for longer trips like this. What do you think? Ideal, or leaves something to be desired?

agree w you about customs & law enforcement in general. In US the employees look at it as a way to have power.. having a false power makes them feel great... whole reason they try to land the job & uniform... in Canada & Bahamas etc... much more realistic. They work for the people.. enjoy the people & the job more. US definitely has a 'I power over You' mindset.

That was a really good and helpful video. As soon as my boys are out of HS, we plan on moving to S Florida part time and buying a boat to travel the area. (Bahamas/Keys). In the very begining stages. Can you help me with the the pros and cons of a center counsel, express sport and your boat. Not sure what it would be called. I heard you refer to it as a Monterrey. I am leaning toward something similar with a cabin down for comfort for my wife. I enjoy fishing but I don't think I need a center counsel. I would assume a center counsel would go faster, built more for fishing, but less for comfort. I would appreciate any thoughts you could offer. Thank you very much!

One thing about navigating in the Bahamas is that the reefs are everywhere and can play hell on your boat and engine. Be aware when navigating and do an thorough map recon, but great places to see. Do it!
