I was watching a vid on WW II. The authors said an odd pattern had emerged. If French or British troops' officers were all eliminated the troops settled down or retreated. American troops, however, began to use unusual, creative and very aggressive tactics.

It's based on our NCO's and chain of command.

This has been well documented over the years with a lot of people much smarter than myself weighing in on it but the semi short version is, it all has to do with the culture (for lack of a better word) in the US military vs other militaries. Other militaries are basically taught to dig in and wait if their officers are taken out of the fight or if they are unable to follow the original plan. Every US military plan starts with an explanation of the commanders intent. For example, the commanders intent is for you to secure a bridge. Then there's a long explanation about exactly how you're supposed to secure said bridge. You leave and start you mission and all of a sudden your officer is dead, the units you were supposed to meet up with aren't there and the plans gone to hell. Other militaries would hold and wait for orders. US military says, well, that didn't work but I know the commander wants me to secure the bridge so I better figure out how to do it and go. Also, as mentioned in another comment our NCO's are taught to take over and continue the mission if the officer is out. And trust me those NCO's will find a way to accomplish the mission. You may not like how they do it but they're gonna do it. This is where the old joke about US officers being there to protect the enemy from the NCO's comes from.

In the American military speaking as a US army combat veteran were taught that we are to do anything and everything to Charlie Mike or continue mission, when an officer for the US army is shot, killed, blown up or anything of that nature the sergeants tend to be quite aggressive. Officers for us are there to keep us in line, when they leave for whatever reason, we're no longer kept in line, we do what's necessary to get the mission done.

Hippocritical aliens think nano-tech swarms are "fair fight",until humanity learns how to make the nanites flesh hungry and deployed on the ugan worlds.

It didn't make sense when the native species were attacking humans when they could know the humans were there to help. Attacking both human and alien just makes it way harder to accomplish kicking them off the world.

The way the story started with soldiers not saluting officers due to human snipers using that to identify high profile targets was widespread in WW-II in both the European and Pacific theaters, and went farther with all officers and even higher rank enlisted soldiers removing all signs of rank for the same reason.

This story doesn't say why the ginta turned against the humans when the humans were there to help them and then made mention of it later on when the ginta and humans were fighting the invaders together.

it started well, since it used individual characters, it seemed like it might not be AI written, but the ai really lost track about 10 mins in

Kind of repetative there. I counted at least 3 recursive loops in the narrative. Not very impressive...

The Ugans want a fair fight....stupid, then they change tactics, adopting human tactics, generations of military thinking abandoned in an instant, so much for fighting traditions. Too many disconnects and shifts in the story, convenient for the author, no one else. Shooting from three kilometers with video game description because the author is not a shooter.

Few AIs are.
@edhenderson16555 ай бұрын
From the Ugan's point of view, perhaps....but if generations of Ugan military fighting traditions are proving to be not only completely ineffective against the humans, but disastrous as well, then it's time to adapt and throw those generations of traditional tactics away and adopt something that actually works. Since the human tactics are so effective, why not adopt theirs?

Definitely an AI story. Lots of repeats in the story and discrepancies in the story. Please fix AI. OH! Good story.
