Take Her Home: Dry Alfalfa Hay, Finally!

It's been a long time in the making, but today, we are finally loading up our second-cut dry alfalfa hay and bringing it back to the farm! The rain was coming in, so we wanted to get it moved to home and under cover so that all our work making the hay wasn't for nothing. Once the hay was back at Ewetopia Farms, we quickly went to bale up a little more hay on some rented property. While there, we had a chance to go see our corn crop and had a little discussion between the differences between seed corn and silage corn. Back at the farm, we quickly offloaded our hay and beat the rain. Our sheep should have some high-quality feed this winter. We will keep you posted throughout the winter to see how it actually turned out. But it looks and smells like fantastic sheep feed.

Good evening Arnie and Lynn. Arnie is having a good day with a terrific smile for the day. You can really hear the crunching under your feet Arnie really moves around the field. I could never do things as well as he does. All tgat hard work is finally paying off. I love the smell of freshly mown grass. Etc. in slow motion the tractor sounds like a train. I think Arnie likes showing off to you Lynn. I say hip hip hurray for you guys. You both so deserve it. Very impressive that Arnie got that load on to the road. I would have been holding my breath. Yes everyone subscribe and press the bell it is totally worth it. I never find them boring. Awww. They are so sweet. The corn is huge. I wouldn’t walk into that because I would get lost for sure. Ouch kneeling on that pokey grass. I think tge way corn grows is quite fascinating. Wow 4 ton of corn per acre. I didn’t know exactly what silage was. Thanks professors for the information. Wow. Big sunflower. I love them. Congratulations on success in the harvest. I super appreciate the photo montage at the end of the video. Keep them coming. Big big hugs to you both. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😉😉😉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I enjoy your clips at the end. Always some beautiful shots to admire. So wonderful to see you beat the rain and got all the hay stored. The corn is beautiful!!! Growing up we put all of our corn away as sileage for our dairy herd. The smell of cut sileage sure brings back fond memories for me.❤ Thanks for another great video and stay safe!!🙏❤🇺🇸

I’ll say again, I really enjoy the photo montage at the end. When Arnie gave his lesson on the corn and walked away. I pictured him “dropping the mic.” 🤣🤣 So glad the hay is safe and sound. Such a relief for you both. THANK EWE!!

Great video of bringing in the hay! That was one huge load Arnie took home! The corn looks super amazing. Wow, almost 12 feet! One could truly get lost in that field. 😮 Love the landscape around your farm with the forests and stands of brush bordering your fields. It’s almost rare to see that anymore with people wanting clear cut every inch of land. The montage and music was perfect at the end. The photo of the lambs laying down in front of the corn looked so peaceful. 💛

@Mary-F Yes, it is common in our area too for farmers to take out all the tree lines to get that extra few feet of land. My favorite fields are those that are totally surrounded by trees. Not many places like that left anymore. It's very sad

Awesome video. Lynn when you mentioned the smell of hay it reminded me of every time the man we allowed to plant hay on the back of our property would come and cut the hay and the smell was like that of cut grass. He would plant and cut and bail the hay for the students at the high school 4-H clubs animals.

Wonderful video again! Love the photos with the music at the end. The photos are so beautiful! I have a corn question. I live in Indiana and rode in the country today and some of the corn crops had several feet cut off the tops of the plants. Do you know the purpose of that? It was only on a couple of fields. My city girl upbringing is showing again 😂. So glad that your dry hay is safe and sound!!!

We had a big wind storm on Saturday. Not as nasty as our hurricanes in Cape Breton, but gusts to 80km. My corn is down, so are my sunchokes and my sunflowers 😢 Just personal food, not for animal feed. I haven't looked at the neighbourhood cow corn yet, but I bet it is damaged. Oh, and my neighbour's is selling his dry hay for $60 a bale.

@@KateMedland Sorry to hear about the wind storm. That's always the biggest worry at this point of the game! $60/bale is common here.
