Saw them on this tour at the Tower near Philadelphia. The energy was very intense and the band had an almost menacing demeanor -- it was great. Later in the set they did Gimme Shelter and it was actually kind of scary. I was in the front row and we stood right up against the stage. There was a group of awestruck young guys who Keith made an effort to interact with, which was really nice. The concert ended far too soon, and I was in no hurry to leave so I just sort of stayed there while the crowd started to empty out. I guess I must have looked sad or something, because Bobby Keys came over and said "how about a souvenir?" and gave me one of the guitar picks from Keith's mic stand. I still have it -- somewhere. It's red and says something like "All of You Stay Back" on it. (Yea, that was long, I know.)

No, it was awesome. Great post. And I know what you mean about scary...saw the Stones in London in 1999, and the crowd was a bit rough where we were, and I smoked a big fat doobie that got me paranoid and when they played Gimme Shelter, I got scared. LOL.

Gimme Shelter was meant to be and IS scary. For another scary Stones tunes; try Sister Morphine. It was written by Marianne Faithful with Mick and Keith. It was recorded when Mick Taylor was in the band and I think he is one of the greatest slide players of ALL TIME. The song is TRULY scary.

I saw the Stones 1975 and in 1989. I saw Keith & The Expensive Wino's on 12/18/1988 in NJ he opened the show with Take It So Hard, he had Chuck Berry's Johnny Johnson on piano. Yes I got to see Keith on his birthday and the Wino's blew the roof off of that old barn called the Brendan Byrne arena that night. Keith just turned 77 today. Amazing !!

The one hit wonder group e.g. “Dramarama” opened it up . I think it was actually snowing 🤧 👃 in LA that night . 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

This song and this band is so over the top. Waddy at the peak. Off kilter field hollering stomp. Single pickup L5S. L5S Junior- who has the stats? There might be 2 of those guitars in the world. Maybe only 1. I have tried to figure this song out for years- it is one of the most impossible songs to get the feel of. They make it look effortless. Hard jammin band. I cannot get enough of this.

We need to send a petition to Keef to tour with this band again. I saw him twice at The Aragon Ballroom with the Expensive Winos. It was one of the best concerts I ever saw. Saw them at The Marquis Club back in the pre-smoking and audience number regulation days. They came on nearly an hour late but no-one was complaining, the atmosphere was electric. Jordan and Drayton switched instruments for the 1st track, have never seen a drum being hit so hard or sound so good. Awesome night, tremendous band and Talk is Cheap remains my all-time favourite album.
