I get the idea but as you said. When you dig with an auger or shovel they are both insufficient. But you combined the two "insufficient" tolls together. LOL

I've been using an auger drill bit attached to my battery-powered drill that also disengages when it hits roots and it works great. I even have an extended auger that I can use standing up and it only cost me $30. This seems like the same thing but more expensive. Am I missing something?

That's soft ground What about wet clay or rock hard clay ? Sticky mud clay! How long does battery last for half an hour I bet 5 hrs to charge

The battery at this voltage is to weak to break up compacted soil.
@paulpierce20513 жыл бұрын
Voltage is speed. To break soil you need torque (amps) and can be assisted with a “hammer” feature like on an impact driver. That said I have no idea what the amperage is in this device or if they have thought about implementing a hammer feature.

@@paulpierce2051 - Gear reduction used in these electric tools converts motor speed into torque. The hammer feature will be added to their product next year called the Rotoshovel HyperMAX

Voltage is not power. Voltage times current equals power, which is measured in Watts. It could be a one volt battery; but if it puts out 200 amps, you have 200 Watts. That's impractical. But 36V at 20A equals 720W; roughly equal to one horsepower. I don't think you need a whole horsepower to dig a post hole.
@paulpierce20513 жыл бұрын
@@RAndrewNeal yes, because mechanical power is also measured in speed x load = hp. However you understand speed and torque can be manipulated by gear ratios. With an electric motor you can do the same with the voltage and amps, by reducing voltage and increasing amps you can make the same electric motor spin slower with more toque. Electric motors tend to lose torque at higher RPM.
@RAndrewNeal3 жыл бұрын
@@paulpierce2051 That all depends on how the motor is designed. I'm not opposing you, but informing the OP. I was intentionally being very broad, since an offhand KZbin comment isn't the place to go in-depth about Ohm's Law and electric motor design.

A gas auger is what you use for that, and even then you're probably going to have to dig some stones out by hand once you're a few feet down.

I still don't see how they demonstrated that this was any faster than someone that actually knows how to use a shovel and a properly operated shovel can make very quick work of things that's why they've been around for hundreds of years I am not saying that innovation isn't good I just don't see this being quite up to par but if it is it would be neat to see a comparison demonstration of digging holes or trenches and having both very skilled operators and finding out.

You’re right, however, I’ve reached the age where I feel faint and/or dizzy when I do the kind of work you describe. Passed out once. I had hope these guys were legit, but seems like a sketchy operation. Called them twice, but they never told me the truth yet. The idea was pretty good, but it seems there are other products out there that can work as well. Better yet, you can buy it and take it home immediately. DO NOT DO THEIR PRE-ORDER OFFER!!!

@alikakalanihuia88912 жыл бұрын
I don’t recommend you pay for their Rotoshovel Max pre-order offer. I did, and I called 2 months later asking when we should expect the tool to be available. Their expected date back then was February 2022. That went by, and I called again. Their next answer was April 2022. My next call will be for a refund. Their pre-order holds no definite sale date or availability. Scam maybe? Something ain’t right. Updated: It’s late June and nothing yet.
