Honestly, I think your thumbnail idea is BRILLIANT; We have no idea what's going to happen and, bit by bit, the blobs and squidges materialize into some sort of recognizable scenario come to life. It's almost like a veil is lifted, and you go " ah... I see it" This reminds me of the saying, " it's not the destination, but the journey"; but in a way, it's both!

While I am not as skilled as this person, I find that for as much as I learned, you can really only learn fundamentals not unique to any particular style or medium, and the rest is learning through performance. There is no magic get good at art tutorial.

Like, you should get a canvas, some acrylic paint, and a paint knife. Then just get started
