Bujinkan’s Take Ori wrist lock found in multiple arts including Japanese Jujitsu, Kali, Silat and Hapkido is also known as the Gooseneck Lock in the Law Enforcement world.
Take Ori is a vitally important tool for all law enforcement officers, security personnel and bouncers. Many claim that there is no better joint lock or hold for controlling someone and walking them where you want them to go.
In this video we move beyond it’s most common use as a come-along technique and explore it’s many other uses and applications such as throws and multiple control positions.
It’s vital to understand that this is a pain compliance lock, however if the subject is resistant to pain due to being on drugs or extreme flexibility when performed properly you can still control the offender by using bone structure alignment.
Joint locking is one of the most complex, frustrating, and difficult-to-learn skill sets in the martial arts. Due to that I do not recommend using it or teaching it for practical application in self-defense.

Instinct Defense Academy is the place to be for practical, reality-based self defense and functional fitness training.
We have been teaching martial arts since 1991 in the greater Portland area.
You don't need to have any previous martial arts training, or be some kind of super athlete to benefit from this training, all you need to be is willing to learn. Because these are battlefield skills, strength and power usually take a back seat to distance, timing and redirection of energies. Height and weight as well as physical strength have no bearing whatsoever to a good practitioner.
We study the art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, also more commonly known as Ninjutsu. Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is an ancient Japanese martial art, steeped in centuries of fighting traditions utilized by the Samurai and Ninja of feudal Japan. It continues to be practiced as a living martial art under the guidance of Grandmaster Dr. Massaki Hatsumi.
Classes will cover a wide variety of techniques both martial and personal and will ultimately offer the student a chance to become more aware of their surroundings and of themselves. The techniques do more than just teach effective self-defense, they teach effective everyday living. It should also be noted that, due to the effectiveness of the techniques and how they are applied, there is absolutely no sport application for this art.
Bujinkan translates to "Divine warrior". A warrior is someone who not only learns how to defend himself, but how to defend and protect others as well. Hatsumi is always telling us to let go our our own techniques. We are counseled to become "Zero" that the Divine wind may move us.

The textbook application for this technique is good. However, there are a lot of dynamics / instructions that are missing from this video. 😕

I would agree on that. There is much one can learn from videos but that is no replacement for having a good school to go to.

I would disagree. That sentence is 100% false. To be more accurate you could say: in a real fight it may be difficult to grab someone's hand, or in my personal experience when I was in a fight and I tried to grab my opponent's hand I was unsuccessful.
