Exit at any decent level, then get rid of the feeling of having missed out on something. The last 20% of profit is 80% more difficult to take out successfully. Not always a good idea to wait for it.

In a long lasting trend, at least 20 bars, I would take profit after price crosses middle of Donchian channel, breaks above/below blue alligator line. Parabolic SAR might could be used when it has two new dots on the opposite side. I have done a lot of backtesting in forex. If price goes into profit, then goes into negative, it is surprisingly few times it comes back into a higher profit than the first time it was in positive.

I don't use the indicator based exit now, more of a price action guy now. But I used to use it, and it is still quite effective given certain parameters and conditions. I used to use the MACD (others probably work as well, or the same) when it gives a divergent signal. This is the critical point. If the signal is not divergent it can frequently come in the middle of the move and you are leaving half of the move on the table or will simply give a false signal or get you in or out at the peak of a counter trend move or pullback. If it is not divergent you will get many false signals. Works long and short, so ignore whether I say top or bottom in the examples and just flip it. Divergence of the MACD fails on V-spike, as there seem to be many of these days. Also, when It can, same as RSI and others give way too many false signals, but if you only use it when it is divergent and especially when there are two price tops, regardless if it has a higher high or lower high. And also especially when these two tops are almost exactly half hour apart. Once you see this setup there is a very high likelihood that the current swing has exhausted itself and you will get a substantial sell off or at least the largest intraday pullback you will see for that day. To be clear as well, because this is not generally taught, we are talking of a crossover of the Moving Average lines a a peak, not a cross of the zero line. This being said, I would still use this as more of a confirmation indicator than a true exit decision making indicator. You're probably going to get much better exits if you use a short term (i.e., 2 Min) chart for this, as the higher time frames will lag too much. The 1 Min is way too noisy. It took me years of staring at charts to finally see this, and it is not generally taught like, I said. Here are a couple of examples from today (2/11/21 using EST U.S.) (Format: Time First Peak - Time Second Peak - (L) Long, (S) Short - Max % Move For Next Intraday Swing) on the 2 Min chart: (SNDL 11:30 - 12:00 (L) 28%). It can be considered divergent if flat or slightly non-divergent, if at that time the price divergence is fairly large. In a strongly trending stock the divergent MACD crossover will come from peaks near the zero line. Crossover through the zero line is usually confirmation to continue holding your position,as you would have already received the entry signal earlier. At times the divergence will be seen with MA on one side, crossover, then pull back towards the other MA without crossing, then pull away. This would be considered the second crossover (CTRM 10:16 / 10:38 (L) 24%). You can occasionally get good entries at a later time. So if you think you want to enter a trade and see this pattern in the last 15-30 Min, you should like the trade more than if you don't see this pattern.

Hi Mark: Thanks a million for sharing your knowledge! I eliminate my winners when the Time Remaining (%) is at least twice the Value Remaining (%). I sell naked put options on stocks and have figured this out for myself (didn't read about it anywhere or heard anyone talk about it). So far, it's working for me. Haven't traded for long though - currently in my second year selling primarily naked put options. On the other hand, I chop off my losers as soon as they go in-the-money. Basically, I eliminate the outliers and let the rest expire worthless. What do you think about this strategy?

you should look into support and resistance lines. it'll show you where the market will probably hit the roof and come back down again

I have the same problem, once the trade goes into profit I go blank, don't know whether to move stop or not then I watch the market take my money away I'm here to learn, I have to improve

1) NEVER be too greedy, then it is better to jump on the trade again, but NEVER leave money on the table. 2) NO ONE KNOW the next bar/candle direction and therefore PROTECT YOUR PROFIT. 3) Scaling is good, CONTROL YOUR RISK ALL THE TIME. 4) Time-Of-The-Day is good, when you are a daytrader, then save your time, take the profit when the Crowd has capitulated. 5) Control your RISK

Ok, now one should consider that volume is relative, ie, if the next day you have the same volume, but higher price, this is relatively higher volume... it happens right now on EURUSD. So the trend seems weak, volume is not increasing.. yes but relatively to price it is strong... And today (10/2/21), will yesterday close be respected, or not... ? I mean what for a strange retest, the rejection is not clear at all. I really dunno what will happen, scratching my head... Crazy volatility this afternoon. Could be reversal, OTHO bears wasted too much time for that, and we have no buying rally.
