MTB in IMHO, is one the best and most versatile US bands . They are a Southern / Country rock band and expected to play twangy and bluesy guitars, some fiddle and harmonica but that flute is doing magic there with guitars . Flute is an instrument that is sparingly used by rock bands except folk/ prog band like Jethrotull who made a career out of flute based rock music . Flute has been used sometimes by Traffic, king crimson and a few other prog/ jazz bands but MTB used it quite frequently as an integral instrument . MTB developed a knockout sound steeped in Americana while embracing guitars and flute with perfectly matched vocals

Dang!!! In all my 61 yrs bombarded by the same-ole 'Classic Rock' computer-played setlists on every classic rock FM station here in the heartland - I have NEVER heard this song on the radio...and it straight-ahead rocks! Ya see, most folks just want to hear 'Cain't ya see' (uh, what dat woman done to me!?) because that's about all the tunes of this band we get to hear - rammed down our throat until we are convinced we love it and that's all we need to hear! I esp. love the sound of that rotating speaker effect on the guitar/intro AND the way the band 'gitty-up' their horses at the accelerando at 5:50 and race off & away...probably as far from a F-in hwy as possible(!) ;-)

@apataye2 жыл бұрын
@@socaranectien1933 Well, the intrumental MID SECTION sounds quite jazzy to me, including its solos (the flute +than the guitar, maybe, as the latter does BLUES scales, ¡ok!, but the way is played, NO pick & little sustain, gives it a jazzy feel). I mean, is NOT jazz, but (as it happens with other U.S.A. 70s bands, like the ALLMANS, or CROSBY, STILLS & NASH) the JAZZ INFLUENCE IS APPARENT (though, sometimes, is subtle).
