Facilities are good but that was before NIL. The “arms race” for the biggest and best facilities across all sports was the rage 5-10 years ago……need to couple with a robust NIL to make the program attract top talent. Iowa needs to build their NIL partners to grow that resource pool to compete for top talent.

I have been around the block and money doesn’t buy grit guts or courage or perseverance or humility some of the best athletes ever won in rough circumstances we have a nation of kids that are not close even in any sense to being as tough as people were a hundred years ago the loggers worked in rivers cold for months miners worked underground with just a pick and hammer money doesn’t buy toughness

Why should they feel obligated too? This project was most likely in the works years before women’s wrestling was included at Iowa. They were our guests before and are now the #1 women’s wrestling school in the country. Trust me when I say Iowa is honored to let them use the facility.

Tom I think has bigger fish to fry than to worry about sharing time with the girls. I mean who freakin cares in the grand scheme of things. Let this facility make the Team and recruiting efforts better. get that National Title back. That’s all I care about.

Women’s program is way better. They should not have to split time with the men. They can practice somewhere else. When and if they do improve, perhaps then they can strike a deal with the women to use the facility, when the women are not practicing.

They could have 47 of these buildings but it won’t change the fact wrestling in Iowa is being taught suited for 1985. From the first sentence of this content, Tom is hardly EVER in a good mood and seems to almost justify an old style approach to a sport that he is clearly 20 years behind, in regard to his training regimen. The wrestling room ITSELF fits Tom to a tee, it’s dark with no light in sight. His biggest competition just got their best ON PAPER recruiting class ever, and Tom doesn’t know how to close that 100+ point team score gap.
