But if you mix in Trance in the middle you lose the journey, because Trance lifts and then chills and if you mix another tune in the middle of lifting part (breakdown for example) you´ll lose the atmosphere of the first track. But there are some departures of the rules.

@djjamingman well metal and rock is a different beast, you cant really do a whole lot but crossfade between songs at the outro/intro and try to blend them as much as you can so you dont have to hear silence and i think thats why most dj's get into electronic music, cause there's more to work with just my opinion anyways

@DJChafe Those styles you`ve mentioned house/techno/trance are made for djs, they have intro and outro to make the mix easier and smoother. Some other styles arent made for djs, they are mainstream commercial tunes and have 10 sec intro. Hip Hop usualy(not always) doesn`t have that intro and outro bit, so you gotta know a bit of scratching to make good mixes. The other styles you asked about, pretty much, be creative, use some filter or an echo and make a smooth transition. Good luck mate! ;-)

listen, the person that wrote that was trying to say a) they don't want to read about your woes, and, b) you answered your own question. what i mean by this is - if you're playing at an electro/commercial house club, or even a party where the majority of people are part of the electro house subculture, you'll get a response in the form of the crowd responding well (ie dancing). But you misjudged your crowd as they clearly liked top 40 and you decided to play your own brand of electronica.

man, first of all, gratz for ur skill and ur videos,u are a greath teacher and a very good dj. There is a thing i need to know,i don't undestand..:( When u start a mix,and u have xfade in the center with both tracks on, u must reduce the low tone level of one of 2 tracks or can u continue to mix both tracks with the same low tone level? Coz i'm scary for a low tone level overload on the speakers! O_O Sorry for this kid questions, but i'm really a beginner :( And soz for my bad english. :|

i think that this only apllies to dance music djs (hard house hard style etc) it seems that all these dj do is make a sort or compilation mix rather than a propa mixing about mix. i mix dnb and i double drop my choons and dnt just string them along when 1 choon is finishing. this dulls the mix so double droping brings loads of energy to the mix. i have neva herd a hardcore, hard dance ect dj double drop!!??

has any one thaught about mixing slow songs?? M N M when I'm gone -- R Kelly I believe can fly -- Out cast, Ms. Jackson -- Chevelle The clencher -- Brian Adams everything I do I do it for you -- AHA Take me on -- Mr. Big To be with you?? why is that all the "how to" mixes I find are all done with "dance" house/techno/trance music?? what about rock/metal and balads??

Lots of songs start with a beat. Lots of club mixes do. The total tracklength is about 6 of 7 min. The way explained in the video with remembering times doesn't work for me. Start track 2 at the beginning, when track 1 begins with te climax. most music has 64 bars (4 beats) for every part. So theoreticly when the climax of track 1 stops, the climax of track 2 should begin.

Mixing the end and beginning of tracks is so boring to me. I'm all about making each set different from the previous. Just don't see the point of simply playing tracks one after another. I guess lots of people do that, but I'm really into knowing ur tracks and creating completely new songs out of existing songs, as well as making ur own new tracks/loops/samples completely.

personally I try and use cutting techniques or samples that flow in to the next song with a distinct BPM jump or sometimes abruptly end the previous song (in a cheeky sort of manner) using the same techniques. Would be very curious to hear what others do though.

to shadowquestion, hey mate im in the same situation as you, i have a low budget and i dont know what to buy. i've been investigating about the stanton c314, and they seem nice to me, especially for a beginner, because they offer you a lot of functions and best of all at an affordable price

@Shitfuck341 if you're playing a track in 80 bpm and want to go to a track that has 100 bpm, you could change track at the drop if you know what i mean :) but it's hard to go from 80 to 130 bpm directly, wouldn't be so easy to dance to that mix ;)

lol @ 2:24 This is a good point though, people who don't listen to EDM ask me how I can listen to ASOT for 2 hours all at once- or they'll ask me why they need a DJ if they have a playlist on their ipod. And this is basically what I tell them xD

This is nothing new! Dj's like Sasha, Digweed, Carl Cox, Dave Seaman and Nick Warren have been doing this for years. It's the reason why people say Sasha's sets are so memorable, when he mixes tracks together its like he's made a new track!!!!

make sure that you watch the clip-leds(usually red) on your amp. If they don't light up, youre safe. keep in mind that when youre mixing, the main volume will go up, simply because youre playing 2 tracks.

@Shitfuck341 Make it half BPM of the other track then. U can take the 80bpm track to 65, and keep the other one at 130bpm. Or play a little with it, as 80bpm is quite slow..
