The Pup Plank actually seems like a good idea to have in your pool (especially above ground pools) if you have dogs that like to swim. Could probably save a life.

What a fantastic idea, Mark! It's a super cool product and very easy to inflate, deflate, and store. Mike said it's even sturdy enough that his preteen daughter can sit on it. It's basically designed like a standup paddleboard, so it's very stable and durable.

This was super helpful information for me! I keep focusing on getting my new / old sailboat ready, that I forgot prepping for my best buddy to finally come aboard. You wouldn't happen to offer doggie training classes? Somehow yours sure behaves way better than Zumi (my lil beagle boy) :-)

You are very welcome, Chris! Our BoatUS Foundation only offers human on-water training, but maybe there's a business idea for you! Bodhi was an absolute star for our video shoot, though he wasn't overly fond of swimming that day. Cheese did help ... A LOT! I'm guessing Zumi is very food-motivated (otherwise he may lose his Beagle card!), so try some yummy treats. Right?! Thankfully Bodhi enjoys the boat and was a great model for us. Some pups might not be as happy to hang out on the water. Best to leave them at home.

Good video, but I was looking for more on how to train the dog to pee and poop onboard. This is what I find most difficult. When we are offshore overnight there is no taking the dog to shore.

Ooh, that's a good one, Vedder. I would think it's similar to basic housetraining. You can buy a mat for this purpose. It's basically a piece of astroturf that sits in a tray. But I suspect it will depend on whether your dog is willing to use it. It's probably easier to train them to use that (and easier to clean up) than to go directly on the deck.

I learned a lot of this through trial and error. My dog leapt out of the moving boat the grab a crab pot buoy. She is a super strong swimmer but it scared me. I was able to grab her vest and bring her in.

Yikes, Barry! That's a scary thought. What is it about some dogs and crab pot buoys?! I guess they look like fun toys. Glad your pup was OK and that she was wearing a vest with a handle.
