Great TuT WINBUSH! THX! I have one comment or question about the hands of your character (17:46 you can see it when the arm is in front of the yellow legs ). I am having the same issue with my character, it has this weirdly bent hands. Is this a retargeting or bone problem?
@JonathanWinbush4 жыл бұрын
Probably the bones but I'm not 100% sure
@crediblemulk46382 жыл бұрын
My character is in th A pose, but not a definitive match for the UE4 rig, so I had some odd issues with limbs looking broken. I tried to straighten the arms and legs in the ue4 rig in Unreal editor, but theres still some wonkiness to the arms and legs. I set the retarget to animation scaled as the char is bigger than the UE4 rig. It does move around ok though, so I possibly need to better align the ue4 rig pos or just create all my own anims. My rig has the same structure as the UE4 rig, but some orientations are not the same. Minor issues really, but this was a great vid, helped a lot.
@JonathanWinbush2 жыл бұрын
Are you using the mixamo skeleton to rig your character or did you rig it yourself
@crediblemulk46382 жыл бұрын
@@JonathanWinbush I made the rig myself. The ue4 structure is pretty much the same as mine, I have some extra bones for the toe, jaw etc. I have successfully retargeted it, its just the poses are not close enough I reckon. I mostly have done what I needed to do, so will have a rig that matches the UE4 exactly, including all orients, which I will use for some chars, but will use my own rigs and anims for my own projects. I have my custome rig in and working with all assets made for him in Maya/fbx, so its not stopping me moving forward. Was good to learn as many ways as possible however and its straightened out some areas i was unsure about.

To anyone who may know or could point me in the direction to look? following this great tutorial but I know because it is a year old may run into some kinks. When I export my character from maximo using the T pose animation that was suggested to use, import it into UE4.27 and say MS 3d paint will only have the model in the A pose thus you end up having to retarget your model as well as the mannequin in UE. Was curious if there was something I am missing? Then my second question I have not found how to do without messing up the entire character and have to start over again. When importing your character to be retargeted in UE, you can adjust the scale so it fits. But when testing out animation exported from maximo with the same character they are messed up (Ex. Punch animation brings in a big version of the character doing the animation and the Z axis is off. Not sure what could be causing since in the export popup yo select the skeleton to use which is correct for the stock mannequin animations. Any suggestions are welcome.

Can you tell me what would be the process to follow to get the animations from these packs to my character. I tried swapping out the animations in the blendspace graphs accordingly but it didn't affect my player. I'm thinking i have to make a new animation blueprint but Im stuck. I don't know where to start. Im a newbie obviously. A little guidence would take me a long way. I've been messing around for days with no results.
