Refs extended a Falcons drive earlier, which led to points with the phantom roughing call on Jones. He couldn't even see the ball was thrown, due to hands to the face and as gentle as possible finished the tackle. If THAT didn't happen, the last 2 mins wouldn't have mattered.
@CharlieRogers50Ай бұрын
The thing that gets lost in all this is that the Chiefs have three HOF-level coaches, and have had that consistency for the past 5 years: Andy Reid, Steve Spagnuolo, and Dave Toub (special teams). They have also had Brett Veach and his staff evaluating and navigating personnel decisions, and all of them are on the same page. Everyone wants to talk about the individual players, but the coaches are who set the tone and what make them so resilient. Injuries happen to all teams, but the consistent coaching (and Patrick Mahomes) is what makes them so tough to beat.
@gundamepyon2003Ай бұрын
This is the underrated part. All the important coaches are seasoned and not getting HC looks anymore which stops the brain drain that other contenders have to deal with as far as staff turnover. All these 3rd and 4th year defensive starters have only played in one system and it's showing on that side of the ball for sure.
@thatstheway2429Ай бұрын
I’ve always said that the most underrated part of the Chiefs dynasty is their ability to develop DBs. It’s why I think it was so easy for them to move on from Sneed. He was a 3rd rounder himself, they’d previously moved on from Ward, etc. They always have really good players in the secondary, and are deep. If there’s one way to lose games in this league it’s having a bad secondary.

An important takeaway would also be: Teams need to stop that "high risk, no reward" nonsense. There have been as many bad (or non) calls against the Chiefs as for them. They just are not getting highlighted. Yeah, the Pitts non-call was a BLUNDER. But, the refs made two BAD calls Against the Chiefs on the very next drive that Atlanta had. Giving Atlanta the opportunity to convert 3rd&1 & 4th&1. Had Atlanta converted either of those, then all the bad (or non) calls would have actually cost the Chiefs the game, because they would have had no time to respond to that last Atlanta drive.
