thanks take. i love a1, i live in the past. i was just a kid when bill monroe was generally beginning to be recognized as a unique musical style. we didn't call it bluegrass back then. it was hillbilly or mountain music. earl scruggs' three finger banjo style, combined with bill monroe's driving mandolin, his high tenor lead and harmony coupled with the band's name of the bluegrass boys from the bluegrass state began to differentiated them from other bands. i can remember hearing them called different things with bluegrass in the name. as more people copied earl's picking and bill's style, their music started separating from hillbilly music and was generally referred to as that monroe style, bluegrass state music or bluegrass style music, etc., and eventually just bluegrass music. well, that's the way i remember it where i grew up in the mountains of western virginia. i'm sure others have different recollections and that's a good thing. the old mountain style music seem to follow more closely to bluegrass. i remember the stanley brothers, flatt and scruggs and bill monroe as the early bluegrass bands i most enjoyed. soon many more great groups joined the ranks of the first generation bluegrass bands. i continued to listen to and enjoy hillbilly/country music until it finally evolved into something i just couldn't relate to. i wouldn't give you two cents for all the MARKETING GARBAGE they play today. you younger fans will have to forgive me for my attitude towards the new stuff. i felt the same way about the old fogies that hated rock-and-roll back in the mid 50's. like them, i'm just too old to care or change. yes, i listened to and loved rock-and-roll back in the 50's but i never lost my roots. i could listen to hank snow, the everly brothers and bill monroe right in a row and love them all. if it's good, it's good!! sorry take for running off at the mouth and i haven't had a beer in two weeks. i'm done for a month. ha! take, you do us all a great service with your excellent posts. thanks again, ken t.

Best wishes from Derbyshire , England .Came here for "I want to go with you " one of my favourite ballads , play it as a slow waltz as I'm a slow guy .Totally agree , if it's good it's good regardless of style .Loved the Everlys then and now , they were always popular over here .Check their Albert Hall Reunion concert , they tore the place down .

@@kent9311 I am only 44 and I'm from Oklahoma but I started playing fiddle when I was eight and then mandolin shortly after. I grew up on bluegrass so Bill Chubby Curly Kenny I tried to learn to play just like them also lots of Bob wills on the other side of country. Nowdays I have a bluegrass gospel band with some guys that we all started playing music together when we was 12 years old. I listen to bluegrass 24/7 from when I wake up until I go to sleep and KZbin helps a lot you can find any song ya wanna hear.
