Hey all, it's been a little while since I've made one on camera like this but plenty of people had been asking for me to do it, so thought it was about time. I'd also been wanting to talk about this disappearance for awhile and see what others thought about it given the strangeness of these circumstances, so do let me know your thoughts. And have a good weekend, stay safe.

It is always hard to accept that in rough terrain and poor weather, searchers and dogs sometimes don't find a person. That doesn't mean that they aren't there somewhere.
@waterflows51192 жыл бұрын
Especially since a HORSE went undiscovered there for 3 years. It's difficult to describe how dangerous the terrain can be unless you've trekked across the Scottish moors yourself. I can see how someone could easily get swallowed by a deep bog if they're out in the dark.
@matthewmosier84392 жыл бұрын
The more I thought about this case the more I think his body might have gone undiscovered. I follow the Adventures with Purpose KZbin channel which goes around looking for bodies stuck in cars that drove into water. Pretty sure I remember more than once where people searched a river, etc. for a CAR no less, and didn't find it until somebody afterwards tried again. Pretty sure his body could have been missed out there on the moors.

Why is it hard to accet that searching even just a couple square miles is hard, especially when full of water pools, uneven terrain, etc? There have been multiple cases of trained police searching just a single house, and missing a body inside it. Dogs are great, but it is the rule that they don’t find a scent or the person, and the exception they actually help find someone. Russia Take the McCandles (name was close to that)….they were later found under 2 miles from their parked truck, but by hunters finding bones 3 years later….the many dog teams and police looking initially didn’t. Many similar stories, including the case where an older woman biker got lost just off the Appalachian trail, people knew about where, and they still didn’t find her before she starved/died of thirst. Wind blows leaves around, hills of boulders block ways or views, clothes get covered in mud, and the classic cadaver smell is very variable, sometimes a lot, sometimes little….never seemed surprising to me that searching acres of territory is hard, or that you can pass by body.

I wonder if they 'divided' the whole thing into two seperate sitations for the sake of... I really don't know, statistics maybe? My knowledge about UK's law enforcment is really low so maybe I'm making a fool of myself with that speculation but now they have one unsolved disapperance and one solved 'axe' case. Without separating the two they would have an unsolved disapperance linked with a potential crime.

Glad to see you again , Adam! In regards to this case, I really think this was some sort of Halloween prank that went sideways. Perhaps Shaun was the one being chased, or the incident with the “axe” was specifically meant to frighten him and make him run off. Then, when it became clear to everyone that he must’ve gotten lost after being chased off & wasn’t coming back, they changed their story slightly to make it seem as though he ran off of his own accord. Just my theory! Anyway, great vid- I love that the cases you present are always so lesser-known & strange!
@matthewmosier84392 жыл бұрын
I agree with you that it might well have been a prank. I really don't think people would agree to get in a van and drive to a secluded location then split up and disappear. The odd thing is, if everything was normal then the options would be at least two: The first would be that the prank was eventually revealed, Shaun would rejoin the others and the evening would go on. Option two is the option that the prank works "too well", he splits up gets lost and sadly passes away.. neither of these two things seem to have happened. What are the odds that the prank would work, the victim would split up from the group, become disoriented and disappear, leaving no trace? A simple body found in a deep, mud filled, ditch, would make way more sense than him completely vanishing without a trace. The vanishing without a trace is what makes me think that something else intervened or that the whole situation wasn't really a prank.

I’ve seen this case many times before but I think the axe incident is very important , if the six friends had all been together and knew the people who were in the van surely they would of had some inclination that a prank was gonna be pulled on someone , instead I don’t think it was a prank at all whether that means the missing lad was being threatened with it in some way but something made him fearful , enough that he tried hiding by laying down and flattening the grass , after which he attempted to leave the area but his clothes being wet and the boggy area he was in is why he may have removed his clothes as they were hindering his escape , what happened after that is unknown , was he caught up by whoever ? Or did he accidentally fall into a bog like the poor horse
@matthewmosier84392 жыл бұрын
Question: Why would he remove his belt? If I was wading through a terrible bog that's the last thing I'd remove because if your pants aren't securely fastened it just makes wading more difficult. And his shoes don't make sense, either. I don't drink anymore, but I used to drink with friends and his behavior sounds more like what would happen if he was taking semi-frequent swigs of alcohol from a concealed flask as I think some guys do in certain situations. Being drunk might explain his shedding clothing and the misguided choice to leave the road to strike off into a dangerous area.
@matthewmosier84392 жыл бұрын
@@reesedaniel5835 I think you may have mistaken my comment. I believe in demons, certainly. Anybody who has their mind open to all possibilities will realize that evil spirits exist. I wouldn't rule out one being involved in what happened to Shaun (especially considering the fact that it was Halloween night) That said, alchohol really can cause people to shed clothing as most people who drink know. He would not have been purposefully shedding clothing if he fled what he thought was a real scene of danger (trail of breadcrumbs for a potential attacker to follow) so I don't believe he was in his right mind because his actions are in conflict. He left a road (fear?) but started leaving personal items (not showing fear) and as things in his enviroment got worse he got rid of his shoes. These actions don't add up.

The friends knew the driver and his brother well, one was a nephew to him. The prank was one winding up the driver, nothing to do with a axe, the prank then turned physical so the driver went to his brother all while driving, the brother met them and was armed with a bat and a axe. The driver armed with a axe then had a scuffle with the friends and it broke up with half running away and the other half staying to fight. This was all in pitch back. This is common knowledge in the area and the video is misleading, the axe incident is well documented in local papers backing this up. As for drug debt, Shaun had a recreational drug habit, less than 200£ so, not even the worlds worst planned murder would happen in plain view of no less than 9 witnesses. They had asked to be taken to a party, not to the farmhouse,. The route changed when the assault happened in the van. There was no party at the pensioner brothers house. Yet again misleading video and information. If either side did anything to Shaun, both had enough witness statements to get each side arrested. Both party’s were questioned at least 4 times by CID. Statements keep matching. Rumours why no one has publicly given a statement are the only stand out issue. The area is in fact extremely boggy, and only a few miles was searched, but not every square foot, have any of you been to check it before you claimed foul play? Take in to the fact he was high and drunk, lost and wet, hypothermia must not be a leading cause….

To me, it is clear; the axe man had gone wild and lived the role a little bit! He simply hit Shaun, injured him severely and the rest did not want to do with it, so they called the night off claiming that each group thought that the other one had him. The killer then simply buried him in some grave and spread word that he went missing. As for the hoodie and the belt, I think they were just part of the "act" to make the murder a " weird disappearance". I think the police should GRILL the friends and the other 2 people. You could *hard* maybe dismiss getting rid of the hoodie and belt, I haven't met a drunk yet that's ever been eager to get their shoes off outside a warm place where they can rest. Definitely not when they're out in a cold ass field in the middle of nowhere. Shaun got got. The bits of clothing (laid out in a diagonal, mind) were likely someone trying to point searchers off in the wrong direction. And let me guess: In that particular part of Scotland, if you wanted to disappear a body, it wouldn't be that hard.

Welcome back, Adam! Live me a local case 🤩 Love my trips to Fraserburgh 🏴✊ Rural Aberdeenshire is a massive area and quite remote. The people all drive up there as all the towns are dotted around and can be several miles from each other. Many of them take drugs. It could be that the victim was on drugs that might and felt spooked, or he got a "dodgy batch". Perhaps this is the reason for him moving off the track removing his clothes as he progressed. Because no one in a sober mind is going to act that way in Scotland's north east at that time of year, trust me.

I know people like a good foul play/supernatural story but honestly it seems pretty straight forward to me. The "missing puzzle piece" in this scenario is that he and everyone else were drunk AF. And that's just assuming they weren't messing with any substances more spicy than alcohol, which is also a possibility. Axe prank happened. He ran off into the woods. Passed out from inebriation in the spot where they found the lighter/grass depression. Woke up hypothermic later or the next day. Stripped his clothing off (this is actually a symptom of final stage hypothermia) and then wandered into the bog and died of exposure. Nobody cared about him not making it back to the car because everyone was inebriated and they were in a populated area so they just assumed he'd go back to the house or call for a ride when he got over being spooked.

Eventually he gets up but now he's disoriented and not sure how to get back to the road. Perhaps his belt got caught in the brush so he gets annoyed takes it off. Then he's in a boggy area and his feet are wet and muddy so he takes his shoes off. His hoodie is wet and heavy. He takes that off. He's wet, cold, the alcohol in his system is all exacerbating hypothermia.He's struggling in bogs in the dark, probably staring to panic and not thinking clearly. Sadly he probably fell in a bog somewhere out there, just not right next to his clothes. Dark muddy water filled with grasses... searching a bog pond sounds very difficult even for the best divers.

One idea cae to mind shortly after writing my previous comment - he did not have his phone with him, and phones can be traced, certain models can even show your exact location if you enable it. So, what if, he wanted to disappear? However, that would suggest that either his friends (or at least one of them) knew about it and helped him stage it, which seems highley unlikely to me OR he wanted to run at some point during the night and this was an unexpected, but welcomed, chance to do so. Clothing items left behind could serve as a some sort of 'distraction'; then again - he would need other clothing items hidden somewhere (or potential third party waiting to pick him up).

I feel like this has a very rational explanation. Flattened grass could be where he fell down, and being drunk passed out for a little bit; he woke up in the dark, confused and cold, pulled out the lighter to figure out what his surroundings were...but he's still drunk, dropped the lighter and couldn't find it in the dark. Falls in a bog, which would make a cold night even colder. He starts to undress. Now, for anyone who is familiar with boggy areas like this, sometimes you get these sort of "floating bogs" where the bog part extends under otherwise solid-ish ground. If he fell in somewhere and slipped under one of those, you'll never find that body. There are plenty of disappearances that don't have a rational explanation, but this isn't one that I'd hang my hat on.

Only complaint: fraserburgh isn’t Frasher, just Fraser (like Frazer), like the name. Disappointed in our police in this one tbh, the axes were very clearly involved. Surprised I hadn’t heard of this one, Strichen isn’t very far from me.

A possible reason he would have removed his belt would have been to wrap it around his hand in preparation for hitting something or someone .. if he believed he was being chased that would also explain why he didnt stop to pick it up after dropping it.

This fits David Paulidies Missing 411 scenario with the odd behavior and the taking off clothing and shoes he won't be found for awhile and I bet that they will find him in an area that had been searched multiple times.It's good for see you still doing these. Thanks n' Cheers

It seems like it turned into a 411 missing misadventure. Even if he ended up with hypothermia, his body would have been found due to that intensive search in such a smallish area. All the things that happened after seems like 411 problems. Missing clothes,weather turning bad and losing his shoes then clothes all line up. At least that is my opinion. Excellent story and thanks for sharing the newest info. Stay safe.

I did the same thing in my mind. I wonder if it was near granite or a body of water, nonetheless it indeed has turned into a 411 missing persons case. Why do they always take their shoes off? I am very observant when I now go into the woods. Based on evidence, cryptic are real, bigfoot, the far and ferries, goblins, giants, titans, mermaids, dragons, and tons of creatures no living man today has seen. Medusa was def real. Her chopped off head was used to turn 200 warriors to stone.

@@reesedaniel5835 The skeptic answers make no sense at all with more thinking. It takes way more for Hypothermia to kick in It wasn't that cold. The 3rd party theory fails for the fact It ignores that not even the killers could've gotten to where Shaun supposedly died. What more likely he saw something weird that wouldn't leave him alone he tries to run away but is then killed by whatever he saw.

8:27 Wait, hadn’t he been drinking? Of course it’s possible that someone did something to him; but it’s also possible that, having been drinking, he was extremely unsteady on his feet whilst running in the dark through the woods, tripped and knocked himself out for awhile. He could’ve received a concussion and that would’ve worsened his situation even more. It just feels like the fact that he was intoxicated to some degree and running in the dark is being played down when they absolutely play into what happened to him, whatever it was. Sure, he was a limo driver and knew the area, but how often do you drive people through the woods in the dark whilst drunk? Also, he simply could’ve been lying down for a rest, or because he felt sick, or quite a few other things. 18:26 That ‘Patreon Forest’ is so cool and unique; or at least I’ve not seen anything like that on KZbin.

I'd like to know if it's possible that his shoes came off accidently; walking in deep mud can suck your shoes right off, especially if you don't tie the laces tightly; then maybe he couldn't find them, particularly if it were dark. I don't think it's possible to lose a belt accidently. Could he have taken it off to use as a weapon to use in self defense? The hoodie coming off could indicate hypothermia. Maybe he is still there somewhere but has not been found because he got further away than the searchers thought he would. Then again, if he were attacked, he may never be found.

It’s definitely possible his shoes may have gotten stuck. Could be he was already in a stage of hypothermia and/or became so exhausted/frustrated/panicked that he didn’t have the energy to recover shoes swallowed by the mud. Deciding to keep moving instead. Why it be nice to see photos of actual state his shoes and other items were left/found in. Maybe was paradoxical undressing, or just became so heavy and cold from being caked in mud that he decides to shed them making it easier to keep moving. I struggle making of sense of the direction he takes and not turning around when he reaches the Boggs trying to go through it instead. It was 2 days before anyone actually realized he was gone. He could have just been sitting and waiting in that area with the flattened grass where his lighter was found for over 24 hours thinking someone will come looking. Maybe he was already succumbing to hypothermia when he starts to panic late that Saturday night early Sunday Morning and begins trying to go find help. Only thing is why not just walk back to that house he was last at? Why take that bizarre route at all unless already hypothermic and unable to think rationally… He must have thought walking back to that house was far more dangerous than taking his chances out in the middle of freaking nowhere Scottish farmlands.. Which brings the suspicion back to that group of friends.

Love these style of videos!! Idk how they can act like the ax wasn’t important. Of course it was. Whenever these kinds of things happen it always blows my mind they don’t spend more time a resources investigating the people to last see them. Who waits to call and find out if their friend got home?! He ran into the damn woods and y’all just did nothing until Sunday?!! I guess if you ever want to kill someone the best thing to do is be in or just say you’ve been in a wilderness area and just hide the body really well. Bc then it’ll just be chalked up to a spooky disappearance.

Thank you so much for doing a video from the uk. 12 years ago in cupar(Scotland) around 2/2:30am I heard what I thought could only be described as a monster(we don't have dangerous wild animals here) it sounded like between and ape and a cow. I heard it a few times. i felt extremely scared but very curious to what it was. 6 months ago I seen a short with kinda what I heard which was a bigfoot so thinking this is impossible I went and looked up all the animal sounds youd find here in Scotland and obviously I couldn't match it to any. In cupar we are surrounded by farm animals,farmland and woods so I do honestly believe we have our own breed here. People here are also less likely to believe in anything that isn't found in a book from the local schools. So it would be easy to cover things up easily if needed
@hardver8855 Жыл бұрын
It was probably a cow, a fox(they make weird noises), a wildcat maybe. No need for bigfoot, sasquatch or whatever monster to be hidden by authorities. Okay if there is 1 or 2, but with all alleged sightings, hearings, through around the world, it is just a fantasy, a part of folklore and mythology. Cuz there is no any bigfoot out there. Simply doesnt exist, bcus if it does exist we would find it already.

I don't know much about UK's justice system but it seems possible that person chasing someone with an axe, even if it was supposed to be a joke, could face some punishment. For example, in Poland (unless it was changed, but I don't think so) you can face punishment for aiming at someone with the toy gun (or even 'an object resembling a gun'). As for Shaun clothing, I really hope this won't come as disrespectful, is it possible that he was drunk or on some drugs? I'm not talking some hard drugs - even weed can make you paranoid in certain situations.

Does anyone else find it odd that there are zero details about the friends and what happened that night, and how no one 'noticed' he was missing? It's sus for sure. And the fact that some of his stuff was found but not him, particular when his shoes were removed? It was already noted he couldn't get far without them. I wouldn't be surprised if some or all of the friends removed Shaun from the area before they got back home even, which explains why they didn't report him missing until days later once they got home. Also I read somewhere that Shaun's father believed he was killed over a drug debt, it wouldn't be a stretch if he od'd and that's why they called then cancelled the call, being fearful of repercussions as addicts tend to be. You'd think he would have been found by know, even if they moved the body.

American Indian trackers that still track like their ancestors are in my opinion the best in the world. They do such amazing trackers it's almost like they can see the past and actually picture in their head exactly how the lost person really went through that area.

It's almost as if after doing something to him, someone has removed all or some of Shaun's belongings and spread them out to mislead searchers and police. Someone definitely did this. I don't think Shaun removed his own belt, clothing, shoes etc.

This is VERY sad for his family, not knowing what happened to him. I only heard about this case on NS today, 31.10.24. and just hearing a few details and listening to this account makes me think someone? knows more than they have revealed to police. It sounds as if he was drunk. He didn't have a phone on him. Did he stay at home , and when he didn't come home wouldn't his Mum have phoned one of his friends to find out where he was , if he wasn't in the habit of staying away for a day or two? Someone takes a real axe to a party? Whatever happened in that van and out of it must've really scared someone to phone the police number, then cancel it? And it scared him SO much that he went running off in the dark on his own. For his life , did he believe the person with the axe was chasing him (drug debt?). With the ground being wet and boggy he maybe took his belt off to use to defend himself ? and removed his footwear so he could run or move faster? Maybe he did die of hypothermia and his bones will hopefully be discovered one day. Did any of his mates phone the Police later (again) to report him missing? People do not vanish into thin air. So either someone killed him and moved his body elsewhere , or he is lying under a lot of bog? If people are guilty of covering up a crime? they should know that the police always hold some piece of information back , and they WILL come for the guilty person or persons even in their old age. It must be a terrible thing to carry around , especially as those people will probably be married now with children? I hope his family can find some sort of peace until the truth is revealed.
@consistentlystupid47262 жыл бұрын
My guess is he's in the bog. You can multiple stories of search parties looking for someone, and the body is found years later near where those searches occurred. I think the hypothermia hypothesis is the most likely scenario. He runs, and lays in a field to hide. He's drunk and it's dark and he loses his sense of direction and heads down the wrong road. He turns off the road to "take a shortcut" through the fields, hypothermia sets in which leads to paradoxical undressing. He eventually gets stuck in a deep swampy part of the bog and sinks down there.

i’ve watched a lot of vids that depict a search where the subject in question could not be found despite a through search only to have the subjects decomposing corpse found in exactly the area described as having been searched.
