Taking a ferry from Singapore to Habour Bay Batam

How does checking in luggage work? I plan to travel from Batam to Singapore but worried about my large luggage. Do we check in like on a commercial flight?

By the looks of the counter, the check-in of luggage should work similarly to the once at the airport, but if we are not wrong, you will still need to get your ticket first before heading to the luggage check-in counters.
