Only problem there is it could lead to the ferry lines going above and beyond solely for him to try and seem like they're better than they are. The way it is, we get the authentic experience. It's similar to how secret shoppers would act, they're meant to go in, take in the 'store' and score it with the staff unaware of their presence.

So, do you have to be nice people to get accommodations on the ferry?
@straightpipediesel
@straightpipediesel 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah and the reason why freight goes by ferry is because the Japanese rail system is poorly suited for freight in part due to issues fitting them in with passenger trains and underinvestment in rolling stock and marshalling yards. Of comparable nations, Japan hauls the least amount of freight by rail.

A ship this size almost certainly has expansion joints built in. They're there so that if one part of the ship is higher than another, or one part twists, those joints allow that without stressing the hull and risking breaking. They make a lot of noise. If you're not seasick, being at sea in a storm is fantastic. Seeing the power of the ocean is amazing and humbling.

Believe me, this is a mild sea.. haha I got my sea legs back then.. and never got sea sick since. In the late 60s I was stationed, in the Navy, on an Aircraft Carrier for 2 years.. Love being on ships.. Now I live in the northwest of the USA, a 1,000 miles from the ocean. I miss the smell and the beauty of the ocean... so I love following you on your channel.. This seems like an interesting trip and I'm glad that you broke it up into 2 videos. I clicked on another ferry video yesterday and something felt missing. I checked the name of the creator and they do just what you do but there was no feeling to it. You share so much with us that it feels like we are all friends along on the trip with you.

Kuga's Travel? One of his videos came up on my feed yesterday too. Subbed to him, I enjoyed what I watched. I do prefer this channel though.

@@francisjackson8254 Exactly, I tried to watch a few but it's just not friendly. It follows the same format but is missing the comments of really being our guide to what is going on.

@@donnamanitu8673 , I agree. I watched a few Kuga's Travels and I had the same feeling. I'm sure he's a nice person, but STJ makes you feel like you're a friend he's showing around, talking, laughing and joking like friends do.

Love the waves as I never got sea sick and the sense of humour on the curry rice which you seem to like :)

I like this channel due to the English. One channel I like to watch is in all Japanese, so I never understand what is being said, but I enjoy watching anyway. You survived the journey yay!

KZbin recommended this channel a couple of days ago. I thought "what"? Then I watched one yesterday. And several more. They are awesome. And then I watched this one. You are ok in the rough seas because your wonderful cabin is on the centerline. I want to travel in that cabin. And all over many ferries in Japan. I would need someone to help with language and food. But I will continue watching this channel. Did you notice I posted in the style of the captions? Because they are awesome!

Trebuchet, I think if you watch most of STJ's videos you'll see how much Japan is oriented towards english speaking tourists. A lot of signage and voice announcements are given in english, especially in the transportation sector. Besides this channel there are other good ones where you can learn about japanese food. Now that you've watched a few of STJ'S, KZbin algorithms will be throwing other channels your way. Good luck, I hope you get to travel there some day.

Your videos keep me sane. I have had a rough day (non-stop anxiety and restlessness) and I finally managed to sit down and catch up on your content... instant serenity. When you mentioned that you wanted to eat something and you looked toward the counter... I already was making bets that it was gonna be some curry rice, glad to see you never disappoint 😉

You really get a sense of how small you are when faced with a sea that violent. Very exciting from the safety of my land locked arm chair! PS: I love how you explain what’s on your plate…it all looks so good!

Haha! I'm glad you feel totally fine, but I need dome of your ginger candies to watch the video! Even watching the water shlosh around in the tub last night was making me queasy. 😄😄😄
