10:25 - the moment every viewer cheered! I've known ships to be used as a ferry longer then the 20 years you say, but she's lived a hard life on her many voyages... That said, she still looks at the top of her game and will retire with pride - I shall regret not having the opportunity to sail her because older ships are a love for me because of their history

20 years in Europe would be a "youngster" under the ships, we have ships that are 40-50 years old.
@straightpipediesel3 жыл бұрын
It won't be scrapped. It will most likely be sold to another Asian country, particularly Indonesia, Thailand or the Philippines. The cabins will be gutted and converted into open sleeping rooms. Some others have made it to Europe (Stena Line) and the Middle East. I would suspect some government subsidy or tax benefit in order to maintain the Japanese shipbuilding industry. This happens for many Japanese transport vehicles, including trains and private cars.

That bed has abs & scales. I have neither either. That ferry is so clean and well maintained. She might be the old lady of the fleet, but she has nothing to be ashamed of. 12.5 hrs is a good length for a ferry trip. Get to eat, bathe, sleep, eat & get off. And I think the room is very nice, the beds look comfortable and the bathtub is bigger than the bathtub that's in my house. So thank you for bringing us along on your journey so we could share in the experience as well. 😊👍 Also, lol is it a requirement that the port staff stand in the parking lot and wave till the ship is out of sight, every time it leaves port? Or was this some kind of special occasion? Just seems kind of funny and odd to me. 😁
