At some point you even stop floating because the air in your lungs gets so much compressed that it is as dense as the water around. Nitrogen gets pushed into your skin forming small bubbles. If you surface too quickly the bubbles expand quicker than they can be reabsorbed into your lungs and get stuck in your body tissue causing decompression sickness (DCS). This is not only a thing in scuba diving but also in free diving, just not as much because you dont breathe nearly as much air (in scuba diving you specifically breathe compressed air) and also dont stay under water nearly as long, so your tissue wont absorb as much nitrogen that could expand in the joints of your limbs (the place where most of the nitrogen gets absorbed to when diving very deep due to the high pressure). In free diving you have other problems you dont have in scuba diving. Since the air in your lungs isnt compressed prior to breathing it, like it would when scuba diving, your lungs get squeezed down to the size of apples which also results in the air getting so compressed that it doesnt make you float anymore. At some point your start falling. The deeper you go, the less you float and the faster you fall.

Dean’s Blue Hole itself isn’t inherently dangerous, but like any natural feature, it requires caution and respect. Here are some considerations: Depth: The depth can be a challenge for divers. Beyond a certain point, the pressure increases significantly, and divers must be well-trained and equipped to handle it. Visibility: The water can be murky, affecting visibility. Divers need to be aware of their surroundings and avoid getting disoriented. Currents: Strong currents can occur, especially near the entrance. These can push divers around or make it difficult to ascend. Marine Life: While not inherently dangerous, marine life (like sharks or barracudas) can be present. Respect their space and avoid provoking them. Equalization: Proper equalization is crucial to prevent barotrauma (pressure-related injuries).

Went snorkeling in St. Croix, USVI qhen I lived there for 1.5 years. Went down a ledge like this one. Saw weird things in the coral, dark and murky. Scared the wilikers out of me. Backed away and swam to shore. Yes, I went back in the water because I'm not a scaredy cat! Never went over that ledge again, though!
@melissalaw6634Ай бұрын
I'm from St. Croix! Moved when I was 17. But I still was not aware that there was such a deep blue hole near there. Can you describe what you did see as best as possible? I do remember that locals would often talk about fishermen in their boats would often turn up missing. Fishing gear and maybe a dog in their they wouldn't ever be found again. I remember people mindlessly blaming sharks. As if sharks could reach into their boats and grab them. Personally, I saw one huge squid. It was reaching one of its two whips under the little boat I was in, running it along a rusted pipe. It even matched the color of thr pipe, attempting to camouflage its akinto look exactly like the texture and color of the rusty pipe as it stretched to attempt to get under the boat. The whip then slowly began to rise ever so slowly towards the boat. My friend and I both witnessed this, though she did not understand what she was seeing, nor did she know about giant squids. Thank God we were only crossing from one part of the island to an outer lying smaller island so it never got to the boat. We did however, witness the size of the squid's overall mass as it say just under the surface looking at us, even when we were on land. It turned every imaginable color in the rainbow, showing it's emotions, before finally turning a deep dark red and then shooting off towards deeper open waters. I had to explain what we saw to her afterwards because she was shaking so bad and couldn't stop asking questions about what we saw. I'd love to hear your experiences. And for the record, I have ever seen a single shark in thise waters. But there are some black massive fish with very intelligent eyes that can grow longer than a 6 foot tall human. Identity of species unknown.

One of the most notorious blue holes in terms of danger is The Blue Hole in Dahab, Egypt, located in the Red Sea. It’s infamous as the “Diver’s Cemetery.” While the Blue Hole itself isn’t inherently dangerous, diving through its submerged tunnel known as “the Arch” has resulted in numerous accidents and fatalities. Estimates suggest that at least 40 divers have lost their lives in its depths, though some believe the number could be higher12. So, if you’re an adventurous diver, exercise extreme caution when exploring this underwater wonder!

And then all of a sudden giant tentacles comes out from the deep dark blue and drags her in to the unknown. That’s what I’d be afraid of 😅

The comments testify people watch Hollywood movies far more than they enjoy nature.

Omg. This girl is so special. Only this one women can captivate the world to such an artful depiction of show me attention. She’s special all right… jk. It is a beautiful scene and if she planned and filmed it. Hats off to that. It was a beautiful painting in motion.
