Taking a Look at Harpoon Lagoon

Something you didnt notice is that if you win the shark too many times it start "dodging" the harpoon and becomes impossible to hit. I play this game nearly every time I go to D&B with my family and after a while of getting the shark with co-op play it just starts dodging. I assume this is to stop people from farming the shark too much, but man does it feel bad to have your harpoon just phase right through the shark.

usually if you hit the shark in between the tiny fish it usually gives it to you. I find it dodges when another player wins one of the tinier fish beforehand

If it weren't for this feature (and the jellyfish that I also have only seen once) this game would be great... It's still my favorite despite the sketchy dodges though...

If I recall correctly, this game was used in China to cover up real gambling. People would set up illegal casinos and use Harpoon Lagoon as the main machine.

I don't go to arcades very often (maybe like, 4 times a year at most when hanging with friends) but this is like, my always go to game. I play it several times every single time I go to an arcade and have been doin so for like, the past 4-5 ish years. With that being said I have seen the Jellyfish spawn only ONCE and still have zero clue on how to get it to spawn or happen. The only thing I can think of is that there was 4 players at once at the table while I was playing it and then boom, the chest opened after a bit of playing from everyone. So I assume the Jellyfish just has a very slim, near impossible chance of spawning normally but that chance gets increased when there's more players on the table. Just a guess tho I have no clue Either way tho this game is always a fun one that seems to have a fairly decent and somewhat consistent ticket payout as long as you know what you're doing. Also the Great White Shark has a chance of dodging your harpoon, I've had this happen to me several times after already catching one Great White or someone else cleared out one of the baby sharks. I assume it's just a system in place to try and prevent easy mini jackpots

In the Philippines, there are little arcades called World Of Fun, And they usually have something like this around! And it turns out (as far as I remember), If you reach a certain threshold of points, you can get your coins back and cash them in for money. I don't know if that kind of stuff is around anymore or if I'm insane, but I will never forget alot of older folks crowded around this machine doing their damned to play when I visited the Philippines.

No joke, I was almost gonna suggest this game on his previous video! But I struggled to describe it well. Yes they looked very similar to the game on this video. The main difference that made old people crowd around it was that it was the only (afaik) game on these arcades that instead of dispensing tickets, paid out the same tokens you'd buy to play the games. After which, they would try to sell it online or whatever, maybe use some of them to play even more. Basically they're gambling that they'll earn more tokens than they put in. Literal kiddie casino.

I always get fascinated about Arcade Games I've never heard of, especially ones that seem so popular yet from the many experiences I've had, I haven't ever seen. Honestly Tabletop Arcade games seem a lot harder to find out in the wild.

Honestly this whole time I never knew there was a jellyfish inside the chest. When playing this game I'd just try to aim at the eyes in the chest assuming it was a very strict window you could land a hit on whatever was inside. So basically yeah it might be extremely rare.

I saw this game in the Philippines and next to each controller there was a bin for you to put coins with a feeding slot on the side. It seemed to give back actual coins. Game was always packed with adults. Edit: google around and yes there is a version that spits out coins. Was pretty popular in China before the police started cracking down, maybe they shipped them off to the Philippines. They weren't trying to hide them, saw them right in the middle of arcades in the mall.

Have you tried one of those skill based strongman games? Like the ones where its "hit the target with a hammer game" but instead of doing it as strong as you can, you have to find some sweet spot of strength. Idk i just remember that one for how dumb it was on principle

You know how those games have a cable to prevent someone from stealing the hammer? Yeah, one time I saw one of those hammer games right next to one of those 'punch the bag real hard' games, and the hammer's cable was long enough to whack the bag with the hammer. No idea if it was any better than just punching the thing normally, but it was a lot funnier

I'm putting in another vote for Rick & Morty Blips & Chitz. Its my favorite degen farming spot at Round1, and after a series of harsh nerfs since its deployment (sorry), it seems to be tuned to be more generous again. Hitting the 500 ticket seed bonus gets very reliable to do within one-two credits when you learn that particular machine

There is something else you missed. There is a chance that the shark will dodge ur harpoon. YES! Your shot will sometimes go right through it, and the shark has this little wiggle animation for dodging the harpoon. This haplens when I notice peolle winning a ton of sharks back to back when they play multiplayer and team up to get sharks.

My theory of how the shark comes out, both my my research working at the arcade, and a reddit post ive seen asking the same question, I believe it has to do with a random chance. It seems to be about a 10% chance when the level changes background, multiplied by how many players are in the game. Either way, i have no abSAULute idea

I did the same when i first tried this game but i did notice on later versions or smth they give the shark the ability to dodge if you hit his baby sharks. Like he'd swim to the side when the harpoon got near it and i'd miss a shot that was dead on. Find it interesting it wasnt mentioned in the video. Maybe capy only played solo so he never saw the dodge im refering to
