Great review! I absolutely love this song, and it has been stuck in my head for days! Although I’d disagree with saying their bringing back the nu-metal sound. They evolved from that genre years ago- getting into more of a groovy melodic thrash metal with elements of death, doom, & sludgey, grungy, almost stoner rock vibes, lol; basically a metal band w/ many diverse elements! I do think this song has hints of that classic Kittie sound, just improved into something unique. And guitarist Tara McLeod has been in the band for 19 years, as she joined in 2005. Ivy replaced Trish when she left in 2007 and was in the band until 2012, when she left to do the whole wife and mom thing with her husband in America… and that’s when Trish rejoined. Then Ivy came back for the DVD release party concert at London Music Hall in 2017, and eventually was asked back when they got the first offer for Sick New World in 2022… It’s a safe bet it’ll stay like this, their in their early 40’s and won’t be touring 9-10 months out of the year like they used to which would burn most people out. God, imagine when they started and it was a bunch of 16-18yr old girls, 2 of them sisters, stuck in a van or a bus 12 hours a day 😂. Also, their new album is called “Fire” and will be released this summer 😉. (If the label is smart, they’ll do it on the eve of the Sick New World Fest)

I'm hoping to get to a sick new world festival in the next couple years. I'm currently overseas so this year was a no go. I would see their set if they are on the bill

I'm the first commenter!!!!! I think the lyrics are not quite as strong as Eyes Wide Open. I do like the over all sound of the song, I really like the vocals. I do agree that this is about 20 years old in terms of style. The album hasn't been released yet, I was already looking into buying it in to support the bands comeback. I also agree that the direction of the video could use some improvement, the women in this band are gorgeous and they don't do a great job in highlighting that, the other girls only get quick cuts. I know they don't have thousands of dollars to spend on choreography but Morgan's moves are a little wonky when she's not holding a guitar. She performed better sitting on the throne in the last video.

I disagree on the lyrics part- the lyrics aside from the chorus are more intricate and dark in a beautiful yet hopeless way. I agree with the rest though- Morgan has always said she doesn’t know what to do with her hands when she doesn’t have a guitar in them 😂. Someone was supposed to edit it that they had chosen, but the record label decided to edit it themselves at the last minute.

@@confessorsedai I don't think the lyrics are terrible, but they didn't completely win me over either. I hope the band was able to take the time to create a very solid album during their hiatus and they have a solid resurgence. I'm about the same age as Morgan and I remember when they first debuted in the late 90s and I bought Spit on CD. It's cool to see an older band come out of nowhere and kick ass and hopefully get a fresh start.

That sounds like Funeral for Yesterday with Jack Ponti, I don't remember the details but he was not a good fit (and I feel you can tell with how the album was mixed and his previous credits) and I know there was a lot of frustration. I'm not sure who produced this upcoming album, I haven't been keeping up but Siegfried Meier, who they knew for years for In The Black and I Failed You and IMO their best two albums. As much as I love the original line up with Fallon and Tanya the line up with Ivy Jenkins and Tara McLeod has been the best, longest standing one they've had.
