Hello everyone, I've been really excited to show you all my garden this year. It is the first update I really want to make as I get back into KZbin. I'm still getting back into the swing of things and my camera and I didn't exactly get along through this video. I am really excited about the little experiments that I do in the garden. I have been using alternating layers of wood chips and grass in my "no till" section of my garden and it has been giving me some really cool results. I'm also trying out some plants for the first time. I hope you all enjoy the video and let me know what else you would like to see updates on.
Best wishes!

Great video, low key and honest. Would love to see your grain production, even if it only feeds chickens. That would be interesting. Keep it coming!

🇳🇱Fortunately you are doing well take your time the plants are growing well and as far as those wood chips are concerned make them moist then they digest better Greetings from Roosendaal Netherlands and good luck Hans,👍👍👍👍👍

i enjoy seeing a more full on example of just going for it and trying things, i don't have the consistent energy i see elsewhere to do hours and hours of maintenance, so i have gone with a similar idea of winging it

When you mow or cut down the weeds in a section, cover it with a heavy duty tarp. Hold it in place with stones or anything heavy. This will allow the weed seeds to germinate then die without sunlight. When you want to plant, pull back the tarp and the ground is ready.

I've been doing no till for a long time, using just woods chips is the longest route to no till. I'd you can get some compost as a layer for a year or two, that will make a huge difference. I also recommend getting a coffee shop's spent grounds and mixing that with a pile of woodchips to get pre-broken down woodchips. I think you are correct in the activity of the breakdown tying up nitrogen and minerals, also being a competitive environment for organisms geared more toward plant health.

Hi! What region of the US are you growing in? I am planning on building a homestead in Mason County Washington and I was curious how similar our climates might be. It sounds like you might be in the PNW as well!
