Agreed. Was really interesting to see them learn some fundamental moves and start tying some together. Would be cool to see them develop more skills, to the point where they take on a course or something. Assuming Datto/Danielle want to make a series out of this

I took parkour classes for many years and only stopped due to not having enough time. I remember the same struggles when learning the basics and even still when learning the complicated/more advanced stuff years in. Its hard to get your mind to ignore what "makes sense" until you can get past that mental hurdle. Then it all feels great to do once you're used to it! Sidenote: the dancing comment is extremely relatable

It's all about the flow my dude you're over committing initially and then bailing half way through, hence the back bonk, start slow then commit at the end of the move like right at the end i.e. the getting off the block, then, repeat and commit further from the end each time. eventually you'll be committing for the whole thing. Slow and correct is far better than rushed and injured. I think you'll see an improvement if you keep at it, love the content and keep it up! (source ya boi does a similar sort of class on the regular and has done for the past 6 years)

As someone who has done parkour for 8 or 9 years, I will say, I only recognized a couple of the skills, but that’s the beauty of the sport. People come up with new skills all the time. You’re right about being smooth being very important, and that’s a great place to start, but it really gets fun when you start learning harder stuff and linking those together. Glad to see you trying it out Datto!

It’s as if I’m witnessing a modern-day Sébastien Foucan. Divine work. If you want to convince yourself to get into the mood of doing more parkour, you could try playing Mirror’s Edge. The second game is one of my favorite games of all time. Sadly, the servers for the online user content were taken down, so you wouldn’t be able to find people’s clever geocaches, but the game itself is still mad fun.

Yo yo if you enjoy this and want to work on more coordination stuff, I'd highly recommend finding a good modern dance class! This instructor really moves like a dancer would. A modern class would REALLY help give you the comfort/coordination moving and a great sense of spatial awareness. Regardless, thanks for posting something like this - it's great to see you out and doing things in real life! Last thing - if you're back is hurting 11/10 recommend a good pilates instructor. It will really help in learning how to activate your core to protect your back!

In school I think year/grade 6 or 7 my friends had a secerete little parkour club in this corner of the school. It was just a ledge on a wall that you could run up and crab. We where talking to the P.E teachers in about parkour and eventually they brought in once a week after school on a thursday a parkour instructor. Probably the most fun I've had in school lol. The P.E teacher we had was such a nice guy and I think he still works at that school. He gave us all a secret rare dark magician girl yugioh card. I dont know how many he had but I know I couldnt give that away 🤣

Played sports all my life. Football, baseball, basketball, combat sports, and parkour. The opposite sides thing is prevalent is almost ALL sports, and is the most difficult fundamental to get a handle on for most people, because it seems counterintuitive at first. Your instinct is to jump off/lead with your dominant foot at all times. Once it becomes muscle memory, the fluidity of your movements drastically improves in almost all situations. You feel faster and more balanced when you move the way they're teaching you.
