😂 fantastic Alan, love this 😂. However, it's a million times harder, painful and more complicated when you have Sciatica 😂 and needs to be carefully planned before 😂

Explosive decompression! 25 years ago on the duke of Edinburgh award were advised to bag our wipes but spread our deposits with a stick to assist in breakdown by weather and bugs. The bag option I first heard about in the ACF and was always the go to option, especially for minimum risk of messing myself. It is always a great idea to get nice thick bags though and double them up.

I tend to find an old downed tree ( and I'm lucky that there are a few in my permission woods) and dig a hole/latrine where it was once standing. Most of the roots have been torn out of the ground, and those left behind are rotten and easy to dig out with an entreching tool. That is dug straight after I've finished setting up camp and before I sit down for my first beer. When I backfill, I make sure the area is absolutely trodden down so nobody can trip in the divot. I do not want the owners to see/ tread in my poop, so I bury it every time 😉👍
@ryanwisbey33875 ай бұрын
Personally I'd say youd bury it everytime. A minimum of 6 inches that's not a massive problem to dig. Basically because theres bacteria that feed on the stuff at that level and below. Burn the paper in the hole. Cover the hole.thats what military do and as I've seen in other comments always a distance away

Away from camp is a given, didn't mention it because I thought it was obvious.

One of you most informative videos yet Al. 💩 I've always thought a foldable semi circle, that can be fixed to a tree or fence post, you'd sit facing said tree or post, and let gravity take over. Unless you've got the two bob bits then you could adjust you position accordingly. 🤣 🤣

Ive only ever had to go wild twice, both times i dug a hole and buried it. When im on the rd car camping i use a 'chamber pot' with a dog bag (an air tight 1lt yogurt pot) in the back of the car then make a deposit at the nearest dog bin. I have a small foldable stool i have modified (cut a hole in) for my stool activities. Its weird not more people cove this very bloody vital topic int it.

I would advise anyone camping overnight preps a latrine hole, just a simple hole before settling in, use paper as it will degrade. leaving it on the surface is both obvious and can be harmful. always walk at least 2O-40 Yards from camp to do your business (no1 and no2) as it will mean you don't smell it either. I've used the same method on all terrains, not just woodland. Foxes, dogs etc. will find it if you don't conceal it.

Not hiding from the law etc so not really a problem. If I was on the run, yes I would take more care.

@@jim-bob-outdoors When I did my Mountain Craft and Leadership Cert back in the day the guidance was pretty much as I state above. If anything its about it being sanitary and respecting the area you are camping in. By all means take it out if you can cope with that but leaving it on the surface to me seems lazy. Pack in your rucksack a small, lightweight trowel, more toilet paper than you think you’ll need, and some small waste disposal bags. Sealable or ziplock bags will ensure that distasteful accidents won’t happen in your rucksack. Choose a spot at least 20-40yards away from paths, open water, watercourses, buildings or any other type of shelter. Use your trowel to dig a small pit, 6 inches (15cm) or as deep as your hand, and wider than you might think. Poo in it Drop in the toilet paper, or alternatively bag your used toilet paper and bin it later. Never bury wet wipes or sanitary items - they should be bagged and carried out with you and binned. Fill in the hole with the excavated soil Wash your hands with water or use hand sanitiser. Just typing this here as helpful info I could offer. Cheers Alan.

I was talking to a mate about this that I go wild camping with. He always takes a dump, whereas I don’t. I tend to go to the bog at home, before I go wild camping, then eat part of an British Army rat pack, when I’m there. Usually bungs me up, until I get home. I did mention the bag option, as it IS the best method. A simple few nappy bags or dog sh*t bags are best. I mean…you do it if you had a dog. Plus, if you are winter camping, and it’s a bit chilly, you can put it under your hat, to keep your head warm, as long as it’s not the size of King Kongs thumb, other wise it will look like you are wearing Davey Crocketts hat … All the best.😉👍🏾🇬🇧

Hey Allan ... mijn manier : haha!!

My method of preference is the log sit. Backs of the thighs on the log, legs straight out in front. Can also allow for a crossword if you're there a while 😅
@Ijsje19794 ай бұрын
Sadly I had plenty of "experience" with this haha . The best way I have found is to just do the "crouch" Don't take your pants all the way down to your ankles !!...take em down just enough to get out the "business end"..your pants will be above your knees on your upper thighs. Spread you legs slightly (for stability and "spray prevention " hehe ) and Crouch down as far as possible then lean your upper body against your knees and arms forward . WARNING DO NOT WEAR BAGGY PANTS WHEN USING THIS METHOD !!! 😉

If I was where you are, I would sit on one of the logs behind you and hang over. We also used the one leg naked option. Pull the pants off one leg, lay trousers in front, will miss them that way. We also acted like a cat since we were proper woods people living mostly off the land. We dug the hole when we were done and buried it then. But I prefer downed trees or rocks to sit on. Much more comfortable. ❤
