Sweet old Ford. I love the Louisville's and I'd love to own one. My dad ran one when he worked for the state and the town. Single screw stick shift. Loved riding with him. Here's to many more miles of smiles with your old gal🤙🤙

To be a daycab and bobtailing. It seem to be a smooth riding old truck. It wasnt alot of shaking or rattling going on. I believe you have a pretty good truck there sir.

I hope it is a good one. I don't know much about these trucks. Thanks for watching!!

Great video, I've been driving older farm trucks for about 45 years now, I've learned early on that patience is key, feathering the throttled while gearing down will help, and I always have one foot on the break and one on the throttled while gearing down in a hurry, that's just the way I do it,..newer trucks are a little more forgiven, their not as wore out, you'll get hang of it, really enjoyed watching your videos

Thanks for the advice! It is different than anything I have drove before. But I enjoy driving it. Thanks for watching!!

I’ve been driving for 40 plus years and down shifting is a feeling after you and the truck learn each other. With a loaded trailer it will be easier down shifting. Btw I totally enjoyed riding in the L9000 !

Thanks Cousin!! I am starting to figure it out. I'll get there with some practice. I love driving it. Thanks for stopping by!!

Man yeah Mr Bill, you did great!!! That L9000 is one smooth truck, I have driven many over the years!! Very nice!! I think my spring ride in the Freightliner will get swapped this winter for sure!! I have found over the years in different trucks with cummins enfines, on a downshift a quick 200-300 rpm burp higher than the rpm you just left when down shifting. Each truck and driver will adapt differently, but thats a good rule of thumb. But you hit them very well , so it will he second nature soon!! 😁😁 The cummins die off quicker between shifts , in my opinion alot more than the cats of that era! Don't feel bad, it seems I have to start all over myself again with the straight 7 SPD in the freightliner 🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I think that will get changed one day too!! Can't wait to see the ole girl hauling grain this season!! Man I miss mine now for sure!! And those air brakes are music to my ears!! Hope things are going well, and enjoyed the ride!!! 😁😁👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

^^^^^^^ What Nelson said on the Cummins motor. Give her a good rev and then hold firm pressure and it should slip in as the rpms fall. I also tell people to pay attention to what the speed is in each gear when you upshift. On the downshift brake down to that speed, pop it out of gear, give it a slight rev, and then slip in to the lower gear. That's been my experience.

Thanks Nelson. If you would have seen me drive it the first time, you could tell I have improved! Lol Thanks for the advice. I get a little better each time I drive it. It is a world of fun and I'm ready to get her loader and see how well it pulls. The air ride is nice. Much smoother than I expected for a short wheel base. Hope things are going well with you! Busy as a bee here!

Thanks for the advice Dylan! I have drove a lot of different trucks, but this one is different than all the rest. I'll get there, just need some practice.

@@stinsonfarms6724 Yes sir, I know that feeling!! Drove my little Freightliner today in a road trip. Took me a while to remember the best way to shift those fully synchro 7 spds 🤣🤣🤣

The best thing about a Jake brake is besides slowing you down is hearing them work
@stinsonfarms67249 ай бұрын
I love to hear them too. Wish it had one.
@raywhite14429 ай бұрын
You need to do something about that we need to hear it when it kicks in

I wish you would say what year it is in your world

It does but the exhaust is so quiet you can't hear it

Awesome ride Bill, do you have a Cummins 350 Big Cam in, that is what the L9000's had in here in South Africa
@stinsonfarms672410 ай бұрын
Yes. Cummins 350 with a 10 speed. I think it's a pretty good old truck. I just need some time behind the wheel. Lol
@michaelthomas301410 ай бұрын
I always had trouble down shifting those big cam Cummins seems like they have a touchy throttle
@stinsonfarms67249 ай бұрын
I'm getting the hang of it, but it is different for sure. Thanks for watching!!

So your truck don't have a Jake brake
@stinsonfarms67249 ай бұрын
It doesn't have a jake brake. I wish it did!
@raywhite14429 ай бұрын
Just pull it out of gear line up the next one and let the Jake brake kick and slide it in
