📄Santo's Notes Q. "안녕히 가세요" vs "안녕히 계세요" to the taxi/bus driver when I'm leaving. Which one should I use? A. The driver remains seated without getting out of his car, but he's about to drive it to the next destination. In this case, "안녕히 가세요" and "안녕히 계세요" are both correct. It's also common to just say "감사합니다" and leave without saying "안녕히 가세요/계세요" to avoid this kind of ambiguity. Another common way is to say "감사합니다. (Thank you. Leave Safely.)"

@@santoverse annyeong Santo! I took taxi a lot when I visited Seoul and most taxi driver I had drove so fast, I was so confused as to why were they hurrying so much, we’re not in a rush and it made me so car sick 🤢 and they didn’t listen to me when I said please slow down (in Korean) 😔

@@fammnak852 Oh, okay! I’m from Seoul, but I didn’t realize that taxi drivers in Seoul were driving fast. I guess I’m used to the speed, 😂😂 Thank you for sharing your experience with me! I’ll definitely add the phrase “please slow down” next time when I make a taxi video again.

@santoverse
@santoverse 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the perspective, so "안녕히 가세요" and "안녕히 계세요" both work fine. After reading your comment, I ran to Korean friends of mine and did a quick survey. It has turned out that "안녕히 가세요" is actually more common than "안녕히 계세요"...😅 Interestingly, the most common way, though, is just to say "감사합니다" and leave without adding "안녕히 가세요/계세요".

Can I also say 수고했어요 to the driver when leaving I wonder? Thank you
@santoverse
@santoverse Жыл бұрын
Ummm… 🤨 They will understand when you say that, but I think the best way is to just say ‘감사합니다.’ If you still want to use ‘수고’, then ‘수고하셨습니다’ would sound better than ‘수고했어요.'

I have a question Santo~ Do you recommend me to try get Kakao T or just to use a normal cab? I heard a hailing a cab is just as good 🤔
@santoverse
@santoverse Жыл бұрын
I recommend both! There's not much difference in price between Kakao T and a normal cab, so you can just go for what's more available in your area. If you're standing on a main street, for example, you'll see many cabs available, so no need to get Kakao T. 😊
