There's a lot of weird mixups in the story. From what I can tell some say Jesse was actually dating the girl, some say they both just liked her. And as much as I like both bands there are a few things and conflicting stories told by TBS that make me think they're both trying to underplay the beef or keep it going. Also off-topic but I disagree when you say John's the better writer. When you listen to songs like Play Crack and you hear Jesse emotionally sing and manage to tell the story of an actual shipwreck and manage to make it sound like a breakup, it's just impeccable. Or even just in the 'You're as subtle as a brick on the small of my back line, considering that was just off the top of his head and how he talks in normal conversation just tells me his lyrics are kind of Whittier, smarter, and roll off the tongue a little better.

i think the 70x7 thing was brought up in the song as a way of meaning he knows what the "right" thing to do is but his human nature/ "wrong" thing is taking control in this situation. jesse has alot of back and forths like that especially on god and devil are raging inside me album. dope break down though! keep it up!

WOW I was litterally going to leave a comment just about the fact you think Jesse was the inferior of the two(come to find out that majority of comments). Jesse Lacey is one of my favorite lyricists of all time. I don't know how much youve followed Brand New's career. When you were wondering if he chose Seventy Times 7 as in the Bible, im like 99 percent sure he did. Just the fact litterally every album has several songs referencing the Bible and things in Christian/Catholic religion. Another reason is ive never heard seventy times seven in day to day life as a saying. I have only ever read it in scripture. Still props on the video! 🤙

I think Brand New has a way better catalog than Taking Back Sunday. I only like Tell All Your Friends & Louder Now. But the only Brand New album I don't love or really like is Daisy & I still like it. So...yeah. Also I find this so hard to believe maybe just because I don't find John attractive AT all. I also heard back in the day that John got mad at Jesse for sleeping with his sister. If that’s true, TBS probably tells these different stories to keep her out of it. Also, Jesse smokes John in the song writing department all day long. WYWTB and LN are great records that seem to be dismissed by this guy. John never wrote TDAG or SF. It’s obvious that the OP has a TBS bias/obsession. He doesn’t even know the proper name of TDAG. OP also says Jesse admitted to guilt in regards to actions committed with a minor... this is false. Their lyrics are deeper, songs more profound, and aren’t scared to go to the darkest places for their material. TBS is just a corporatized, watered down version of their origins.
