Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if Luna wasn't incredibly popular with the ponies... I mean, she won over Ponyville, but think about how stuffy and unforgiving Canterlot ponies must be. Maybe everypony in Canterlot knows Twilight because they're living in a royal-pony capitol... whereas ponies in manehatten don't seem to give a flub about current events. Maybe using that one guy that snubbed Twilight for a cab shouldn't be so over used anymore? Lil ole me likes that Rarity fulfilled her dream in a very humble manner. No explosive, huge episode, no full musical episode, no forced two-parter... We just see Rarity has a dream to open a shop, and then she does it. I like that because it makes her dream very real and relatable, and.... well.... not simple, but... It just makes me think; Rarity worked hard to sell designs to celebrities, worked in manehatten, and spread her name around enough to finally achieve her dream. She didn't need to go through one huge explosive musical episode, she just needed to work hard, keep doing what she's good at, and save up enough to finally get her shop. With all that work behind it, I could see Rarity not so much seeing her dream as completed, but basically beginning a beloved career that she's going to continue hopefully for the rest of her life.

Episode idea--- Rarity finally gets the venue confirmed, but she realizes it's in horrible disrepair from an accident suffered by the previous owner. This COULD turn into the same scenario as the Rarity/AJ episode about fixing the park, but a more interesting plot to follow would be the story of the past owners. Maybe they went bankrupt, or maybe one of them got injured during an accident and had to close the shop. Either way, Rarity's generosity would come into play as she learns of the misfortunes of her predecessors. Maybe the daughter of the previous owner could really use a job at the boutique. All of this exploration could happen while Rarity oversees the reconstruction/remodelling of the shop. Too far fetched???

To be fair, Twilight did not really do anything Publicly as a Princess until the Trade Fair thing, and she did not become super well known until Tirek happened, and she suddenly had a huge, out-of-place castle in Canterlot. For most of Season 4, she was pretty much just "Twilight with wings" up until somepony bothered to remember to put the "Princess" in front of her name. Sure, there were several instances of huge events in Canterlot to honor Twilight, but Communities in Equestria seem to be very insular, which is not that surprising, given the treacherous weather, beasts, and hazards that seem to exist between them. It is entirely possible that Manehatten had only barely recieved word of Twilight's Corronation by Rarity Takes Manehatten, and nopony actually had a description of her, and they did not expect her to be there. Similar insulation would make Twilight, in the months following her Castle's rise, a "New Princess" to the media all over Equestria.

"How is Twilight the most popular Princess?" The polls were likely kept to Canterlot, where the center of royalty is. Twilight is the most active and newsworthy Princess while Cadance is off in the middle of nowhere, Luna operates primarily at night, and Celestia sits on her ass doing nothing. Also, Silent Expressive Cameraguy is funnier than Cameraguy trying to be witty.

-I´m gonna guess that after fighting Tirek Twilight got quite a rise in popularity. That´s the thing about war heroes. And, after all, it was the first villain she stopped as a princess. -Actually, I think that the episode sided with the unsatisfied costumer. We were supposed to feel bad for Rarity, but understand that she made a mistake. It´s just a way to solidify the position she is in; so cornered by her situation that any attempts to escape result in her being called out.

Commander... I genuinely salute you for this video. I myself am a creator of fanfiction, and the way you presented your thoughts really related to me. You addressed an issue I've had to fight for a long while now, the "Factory Rut" as I call it. People have enjoyed my work, and even though my everyday life has gotten far busier since I put out my work people still want it, and I want to provide it because making quality work others enjoy fills me with a deep satisfaction, and the reviews really make my day when everyday life has me down... But when I feel compelled to rush my work I feel like I didn't put the effort into it that I should have, and that I'm letting my readers down. Here you reminded me that the best work needs inspiration, and the will to make it your best. So for that, thank you. And in return, here is my idea for an episode how Rarity gets her shop ::: The episode starts with Rarity pulling her element, and fixing up one of Fancy Pants' old suits while in Canterlot to help Twilight plan for a garden party to celebrate Twilight's birthday with the other princesses. Fancy Pants remarks on her quality workmanship, and muses as to why she does not work a boutique in Canterlot where she would be quite reputable. Rarity responds with the financial issues, and how Ponyville is her home so she could never just pack up for good, especially with the magical map in Twilight's castle. So Fancy Pants offers to pull some strings, but Rarity actually refuses to use his influence. This is her dream after all, she needs to make it happen, but would appreciate him pointing her in the right direction for the perfect real estate. A short montage of being turned down by property owners later she realizes she shouldn't, as Applejack would say, count her chickens before they hatch. So she sets out fliers offering her skills, and while at first it's slow she gains a very well earned reputation for her work until she realizes that even at this rate, small patch jobs, and even custom orders for Canterlot ponies will take years, and she can't keep making the frequent trips to Canterlot (and let's face it, the snobs wouldn't set hoof in Ponyville for a small job or two). Still she has to keep her chin up for her friend, and devotes the majority of her energy to making Twilight's birthday stunning. When she sees the other princesses in averagely styled dresses she decides she will not stand for it, and sets to making them magnificent. Afterwards she's truly recognized for her talent, and the princesses pay her for her work, quite generously. Generously enough that with her new reputation she has her pick of property to start her boutique. ::: So what do you think? Also your video was very good, it struck a cord with me while still keeping with your trademark humor. KEEP GOING STRONG!!!!!!!

Okay, hold on, Firebrand. Remember that the guy who wouldn't give Twilight the time of day was from Manehatten, and Sassy Saddles did her poll in Canterlot. Now, thinking about it, I'd have to wonder if it's a matter of location... In Canterlot, the royalty is right there and is thus often on people's minds. Outside of Canterlot, sure, the two alicorns who raise the sun and the moon daily are important, but the alicorns of love and friendship? Eh... yeah, not so much. Considering how the ponies treat national heroes like the Mane Six and Starswirl (considering that no one other than Twilight and probably other academics cared who he was before season four), that's really not that surprising... and really makes the incidents of Mare-do-Well kind of confusing (Spike's worship in Equestria Games may just be an artifact of the Crystal Ponies being thrust into the future from Equestria's 'Age of Heroes'... or possibly due to repressed urges from past enslavement). Anyway, the local kids might get excited, but everyone else generally treats Twilight's presence like it's no big deal. Sure, Starlight Glimmer cared, but given how separated the commune was from the rest Equestria, I'd have to wonder if she just got the news about it from a 'royal watcher'. Actually, that might explain the excited crowd at the Rainbow Falls Traders Exchange; all the ponies eager to see Twilight were 'royal watchers', and no one else really cared that she was there. Or the Manehatten incident could just be playing on the stereotype of the New Yorker who's seen everything, and the Canterlot thing is still a matter of living right next to royalty. Too seriously, I know.

Maybe for one show you can get um all together and get um to do something hilarious in the background as you review a show. Or maybe you pop back there one time and there is one of your editors but as you keep popping back there they keep on switching out for some reason. I think you could easily make something entertaining out of that.

2:48 I suggest that such an episode would work if this was a sub plot to something else. An example would be the episode 'Twilight Time', when the new title of princess was touched on but wasn't the focus. 1 ~ We could have a central plot of twilight resolving some friendship problem while rarity looked over the location and having a hard time deciding between this one and another location. 2 ~ The whole episode could be twilight helping rarity decide between 3 or 4 possible locations. The foil of the plot being indecision and the moral being "Sometimes decisions are hard to make but you can always ask your friends for help" or something similar.

Well, no, Rarity was in Canterlot to visit her new shop, Rainbow only asked her along because Rarity was already in town. So far as the Rarity gets her shop episode, I'm actually surprised you missed an obvious pony right there in Ponyville with her: Filthy Rich. The episode might have been that a single store space opens up in Canterlot because somepony moves their business, maybe say to Trottingham or Fillydelphia to be closer to their family? Filthy might be a nice pony when it comes to being social but business is business and, with Spoiled driving him on, I could see him getting nearly ruthless about expanding his store into the capitol city, this causing it to become a real showdown with Rarity for who would claim it on the end.

I have an episode idea to cover the Rarity getting the store in Canterlot.One of Rarity's connections is wanting to retire from being a store owner and wishes to set up a competition and a test for who will take over his/her position and store location in Canterlot. Think of this as a fashion version Willie-Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Some characters from previous episodes return and maybe some new ones, but in the end due to Rariy's display of lessons she learned from and with her friends (and this will bring some continuity to her story to make it feel like it's come full circle), she wins the prize to own the store in Canterlot. Now how this is executed I'm not entirely sure, but it would be nice to see some of these connections Rarity supposedly has. Maybe this one helped give Rarity a boost in starting the Carrousel Boutique and/or was a role model for Rarity as a foal to pursue fashion as a Tailor, whichever. This would also be a fine passing-of-the-torch story. Could have it to where this connection is one of the background ponies you see from previous episodes to add to the continuity. It would definitely make the acquisition feel more like a triumph for all the hard work and skill she has built over the years instead of a footnote that the show has made it. It really burned me that this was the flavor I felt when I first watched this episode. Honestly I thought I had missed an episode coming into this one. But as you pointed out, don't take it too seriously.... you know, I should probably get that made into a t-shirt. Like you I have a problem with doing just that...

An episode centering on her getting the shop would be hard but not impossible. Just off the top of my head, perhaps there could have been a huge event happening that all the princesses had to go to. As a surprise and to lift her spirits, twilight convinces the princesses to each comission a dress from rarity but they all don't really have specifics on what they want. So rarity takes time to hang out with each one and learn more about her giving a little princess fanservice. (which fans could think is the initial idea of the episode) She could go through and make stunning dresses for each princess that perfectly encapsulates them and their personalities. Then maybe show the princesses leaving for the event, and a few days later a pony comes to raritys shop, asking for her. She greets them politely and kindly, and they explain they're a business pony and they own a vacant building in canterlot. They've always had a love for fashion but no creative talent themselves, but they could see the passion and talent in Rarity's work and ask her if she would like to set up shop in their building. maybe keep the building owner as a recurring side character to act as a foil to rarity? I know technically it wouldn't be "HER" shop but eh, semantics not like the kids watching will care.

If I had to do an episode where Rarity was looking for a place in Canterlot I would make it one where she was shopping around places to find the best place to set it up. There could be these three places, maybe one that is older and in a slightly cheaper part of town (but could have great promise for Rarity putting her own creative touch into restoring the place), one that is right in the center of Canterlot and already to hold a new shop but it is really expensive with little unique charm, and one that is a nice compromise between price, location, and move in ready-ness but is also a bit small for Rarity and in direct competition with some other store. Then Rarity talks to the mane six for advice (getting ideas all over the map) before picking one and making it her own. Then there could be a moral about following your heart/instincts or it being a question of journey rather than destination or about how hard it can be to pick between good choices.

Here's an idea that might have worked. Rarity goes to get the shop, and, at the last moment, the realtors that she'd buying it from boost the price considerably, forcing her to need to do some sort of emergency fundraising before a one-week deadline (or three days, depending on how fast she can raise money herself), before the store is bought out from under her by another pony. Introduce a new antagonist, maybe not Pollymer, but someone 'cut from the same cloth', maybe even a relative of the Flim Flam Brothers? So Rarity has to get the money ASAP, maybe even with this new antagonist trying to undermine her attempts to ensure that she gets the shop instead of Rarity. This could, in turn, give the lovely business pony fashionista a potential reoccuring antagonist, and maybe even a potential redemption that could have spanned several episodes, with the antagonist learning a small lesson each time, bit by bit. This idea is inspired by the fact that my family and I are, currently, house hunting, and while no one is undermining us, it's possible to get out bid or forced to get the funds quickly to avoid losing a decent home on the housing market. It can be worse with resturants and stores, especially for ones in good or prime locations.

generostiy comes back around, the epiosde that results in her geting her shop in canterlot could revolve around her preforming her usual random acts of generosity, perhaps even seemingly giving up a chance at the shop itself because someone else needed it more...and in the end geting it anyway because someone she showed kindness too previously wanted to pay the good forward.

A play on the idea of fundraising for the shop: Rairty goes to buy the space only to find out that those selling it have increased the price drastically, and that if she can't raise the money in time, it will go to another potential buyer.(The same sort of scenario was used in the disney version of the Princess and the Frog.)

Ahh, Canterlot Boutique. It was a nice welcome back from the mid-season hiatus. Sadly, the next two Rarity episodes don't hold up as well.

*LIGHTBULB* Rarity find an abandoned shop in a forgotten part of Canterlot, moves it to a more popular spot via worker ponies, and she tries to find ways to make its broken down state almost perfect

Prices go down when a building goes old or a death occurs plus in the episode something something review it was very clear that the building was cheap so it wouldn't be surprising that one was as well

Did anyone think the pony who got the special princess dress looked like the pony version of tambree from gravity falls?
@ten-fandoms-in-a-trenchcoat7 жыл бұрын
Seth Howell Story: Tambree found a portal to Equestria (which isn't hard to find because they live in a supernatural world) and preceded to live in Equestria (which is why we barely see her). Headcannon Accepted!!

Haggling with a business stallion for a building? Perhaps with the Flim Flam Brothers? It opens up with Rarity discussing with (Perhaps Applejack?) about how this is the most strategic point to buy a place for fashion business... Then, when the door opens, it turns out to be the Flim Flam Brothers, trying to sell the place. Upon seeing Applejack, their polite smiles take on an insidious glee. Then, the credits roll. Episode continues with the ponies reactions. After a bit of reaction, Rarity is quick to collect herself, and attempts to calm down Applejack. She asks to be excused for a moment. Flim (or flam) says that it would be quite alright (the other brother agrees). After a bit of discussion with AJ, they both decide to continue the meeting with the building, although AJ looks uncertain before going inside, and hesitates to even re-enter the building... It looks like she spotted something, but she shakes her head and continues. Of course, during the tour, everything appears to be alright... So good, the asking price seems pretty low, in hindsight. Naturally, they increase it, since they now know EXACTLY who they'll be doing business with, to try and make an extra Bit. After a bit of haggling and foreshadowing, they both agree on a price between the original asking price, and the new one they gave on screen. They shake on it, adjust the deal, and all sign it. Afterwards, they give their farewells, and leave (in a bit of a hurry)... After getting the movers to bring some stuff in, it starts becoming apparent that the place is actually falling apart. Rarity makes a perfectly dramatic exclamation about how they were swindled. Commercial break. (I think I'll add more in the morning, after a good night's rest...)

+Marion Ette The major problem is that they already had a Rarity and Applejack episode lined up, and that episode requires Rarity and Applejack to work properly.

6:23: It's OK, Josh. I also signed up for Overwatch and WoW: Legion and I didn't get in any of them. *gives reassuring shoulder pat* As for the episode, it's one of my personal favorites. Sure, Rarity was similarly manipulated by overambitious ponies, but the heart of the story is still there: the balance of both creativity and demand in business. I read articles and hear stories in the animation industry that say that while many artists like doing computer animation but miss doing hand-drawn animation. But, thanks to success of bigger studios, smaller make the jump and get burned (lol pun). My koan for the day: do the right thing for the right thing. Peace. ^_^

You know, I think Rarity next dream is to own a franchise of boutiques, show casing her dress making skills which will be very interesting. For one of the big things is Rarity have always been one to never, and I mean never been one to let her work out of sight. Allow others to work under strict supervision but never without. So it be interesting to see Rarity learn to trust others to do the work without her constant supervision. Also, am I the only that see a Starfire and Raven reference with the night and day pony at the end of the episode.

+raw666 Coco would be a great pony to bring her leason of trusting her employees. Coco has already proven to be thrust worthy and hard working, so she could prove her self as a designer under Raritys guidance.

Bethany Ashley Where are you from? If you don't mind me asking.
@b.ashley92228 жыл бұрын
Maximus Prime No problem. I'm from the U.S. Specifically, I'm from a metropolitan area in Texas, so I hear colloquialisms from all over around here. Primarily I will hear phrases from the South and Southwest, but I hear ones from all over the states. I've heard "a tick" (normally "Wait just a tick" or "I'll be there in a tick") from some coworkers and customers.Nobody ever seems to question it when they say it, which is why I'd consider it a normal phrase. Some members of my extended family say it too, though I can't tell for sure if it's a regional thing or not with them. My family is from the South and Midwest (Kansas primarily).
