My bumblebee is finally out of body and paint. Watch how it escaped the Bronx and made the journey home. Now the fun really begins!

Wow Ian that’s incredible! When your Bumblebee 914 is completed it definitely won’t be a poor man’s Porsche!
@IanKarr3 жыл бұрын
Ha! Actually finishing it might make it a poor man's porsche )

That's going to be an awesome car when it's finished. IMHO the body lines of the 914 have aged really well. Love these cars!

@vintage76vipergreenBeetle3 жыл бұрын
@@IanKarr You will be the first one to scratch it putting it back together. I'm in that process now with my project. Be very careful. Use fenders covers,masking tape, etc. There probably a video on how to do that,if you look for it.

@@IanKarr I owned a bumblebee special edition like yours in the eighties and I loved the car.I ended up going through a divorce and sold the car to a buddy to keep the soon to be ex wife from getting it.I would love to have another but I think at this point I will live with my great memories as I'm 62 now and have had both hips replaced.The car is not the easiest to get in and out of if you have arthritis but man are they fun to drive on tight twisty roads.Great little cars and underated for too long.Glad they seem to finally be getting their due.Its about time.

Looks awesome! I tend to switch between whether I like bumblebee or creamsicle better. Both are cool cars. I could only get one if it was possible to modify the shift linkage and center tunnel to move shifter to the right a couple of inches
@IanKarr3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jeff. Why move the shifter?
@jeffhammond89693 жыл бұрын
@@IanKarr because I am 6’8”, and my knee gets in the way of the shifter if it is in the stock location. For now, my Porsche addiction is a 1987 944 and a 1992 968. Ocean blue and cobalt blue respectively.

a poor man's porsche but a fun car to drive and alot cheaper to maintain.

Mighta been a poor man's Porsche in the 70's. Not so sure that moniker still holds true ;)

@@IanKarr Very true. New engine parts are not cheap, and made poorly. ☹

Hi Ian, great video! Would you mind sharing how much it cost for this? Need mine done to mine for my wife but not trying to pay more than it’s worth haha

Well....these days restoring 914s isn't a money pit. Depending on where you live and what else needs to be done (metal work, etc.) figure 8-10K for an OEM-quality paint job on a car that's been stripped down and rolling. You can over restore and pay 20K if you like ;)
@randyfleet99683 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! Hope you didn't have to mortgage the house to pay for this.
