The one thing i have learnt so far from my own experience is this, those baby hairs at the edges lack much density especially when the hair stylist decides to pick them in little quantities. You will have a lot of shedding and breakage no matter how you do it. The trick for me is to ensure that my edges are not picked during braids or i make sure alot of hair is added to the hair and not picked too tightly to help with the hair density and also to minimize the shedding and breakage. Come to think of it , the thicker and dense part of your hair does not really experience such a large amount of shedding and breaking!
