This was very hard for me when I hit middle age and my waist started to disappear. I bought a French curve ruler that lets me mark the curve on the fabric with out making a lopsided curve.

Do l do both sides or just one? I bought three really cute summer blouses off the clearance rack. They were only $5 a piece in the end and so I couldn't resist but they are a size too big. I figured I could take them in no big deal and this video was very helpful but both sides are one?

I got a sewing machine recently and had no idea how to use it, but I learned and it’s so much fun. Get one and learn on KZbin or take a class locally. I did both and it got me to a place where I can start making simpler things.

How do you get that off without stabbing yourself? 😅 I think I'll point my pins the opposite way or maybe just mark it and pin flat.

Back-stiching is basically like tying a knot at the end of your work if you were sewing by hand. It keeps it from unraveling.

Backstitching for beginners: 1) Sew forward on your seam about 1/4". 2) Sew backward about 1/4" directly over the 1/4" you just sewed. 3) Allow the machine to return to forward stitching and sew your entire seam. 4) Do the same thing at the end of the seam. Hope that helps!

P.S. Most machines have a lever or button you push to make it sew backwards. When you let go of the lever or button, the machine returns to forward sewing.
