Taking pics with a Nikon 24-120mm f-3.5-5.6 kit lens on a D850

What a great honest review! Great shots, I bought this lens and love it. I first used it with a D5000, then a D600, and soon a Z6... This is definitely a keeper. I would ask about your arm, but I'm more than sure it's healed by now 😂

It was/is a fantastic lens. Thank you for asking - the arm is long healed and I still cringe when I watch... I di manage to break both hips a couple years after this but it was in a bicycle accident..... and that has healed too!!! Enjoy your Z6 when you have it in hand! 🙏🤗💖

I use the 24-120 3.5-5.6D with my D700 and get very good results.

I have own this len since it was first put out. I must have taken more then I could count shots with it. It's not perfect but for a walk around lens it nice I remeember some years ago the photographer called the angry photographer he liked it but you get your best results with a cropped camera. I took it to a local zoo with a D7100 and had pretty good results. I'm sure in time you'll find it's sweet spot

Hi Jase Edwards ! I shoot everything manual. I have a D750 and I use it quite a bit. The older D800 is still one of my favorites through..... still!

Hi Mhd Daher! Well, if I am correct, you have an f/4 all the way though your zoom range. On the one I have, at 120mm I can only up up to an f/5.6.I may be wrong though. That additional light makes a HUGE difference!! You definitely have the better lens. :)

Hell, good day, can I ask if you had any issues with focusing at a focal length of 70mm-120mm in using this lens? We had issues with ours, at focal lengths beyond 50mm, the lens cannot acquire focus, asking to know if this is really inherit with the lens, or our copy of the lens is damaged. Thank you, God Bless

Hi Stephen! I have not shot this lens since just after this, but I do not remember having trouble with focus. 😁It could be the lens you have needs a micro adjustment and there are many videos on the web about how to do that for maximum sharpness.

Hi TechHead97!! On Mulholland heading towards Schuren just after the opening where you can park going from the top of Piuma. Google maps shows it as 24333-24529 Piuma Rd, Malibu, CA 90265. There is a little tiny pull out and you can hike out a little bit. I fell down a mountain farther north on Mulholland later that day and dislocated my left shoulder LOL. So many amazing places out there to shoot. John 😁

Hi An Coats! No, everything shown in here is with the lens listed. I remember this day VERY well - it was Christmas day and I ended up sliding down the ravine later that day. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJC6lKeJoN1jiJo I dislocated my shoulder after taking the pictures you see at about 3:32. I tried to go down in that ravine and slipped. I had my whole kit with me but since I had gone to shoot only that lens, that was all I used. I do use and like Tamron lenses, but this is that Nikon lens!! That is a day i will NOT forget LOL. Thank you An Coats!

Yeah, I though the same thing.... it really isn't good to start off a video about a specific lens with images from a different lens!! You should not have put any of those bird images in the start of the video, and also please leave your images on screen a couple seconds longer so we can actually see them.

@@allinsiteUK At that time, it may have been the closest profile I could find for that lens. The software and communication between everything has come a long way. That happened a lot and I had to find profiles that were close. 🙏🤗💖

I have this lens and I absolutely love it! I use it with my Nikon d750! The images are extremely Sharp! I have found that The Sweet Spot of this lens seems to be at f/8! I'll be praying that your shoulder heals fast!🙏

Thank you George Castro! My preference is a zoom lens exactly like this BECAUSE of the versatility. F/8... I will go back out and give it a try. Planning on going back out to that spot.... and I will take that lens. I had it on the D850 but in all honesty, I believe I prefer the D750. and I absolute LOVE my D800. I will take the 800 out and put it on that. It will also make a great video! Thank you!!!!

@@JonnyPink65 Any particular reason you preferred the D750 over the 850? I recently made the decision to get a used D750 considering I was coming from a Canon 60D!

@@fallen4life080 Well, the files were smaller and easier to work with sometimes. I still use the D750 for astro but have switched to Canon for everything else. I now have a 90D that I use sometimes, but really LOVE my Canon R5. I was waiting for Nikon to update, but switched before they came out with the Z9. I think that even if they had come out at the same time, I would still have changed to Canon. I have also been using the Canon M50 and enjoying that as well. Small files as well. 🤗💖

This was a much maligned lens within the camera community due to its softness and pin/barrel cushioning from centre to outer edges. Some were lucky to have good copies but to this day it seems to be one to be avoided. I have the f4 version which has its issues but is certainly free from many of its predecessors. In saying all that, recently, I also obtained your version of this lens and to be honest with modern corrections in Lightroom and sensible sharpen in PS I defy anyone to be able to tell them apart. Its a great focal range! Great vlog.

Thank you Old Grumpy Jim! I LOVE zooms for the versatility. This was not a bad lens at all, and sometimes I just like buying them to try them - it's fun! One thing i do want to try (I think it is a cheat but want to try it any way) is the program Topaz AI. That SHOULD make almost anything look great!

I shot a group photo about 60 people and EVERYONE on the right side was soft (it was my first time using this lens.) Then I shot an event and had groups of 5, 6, 7, 8 ppl and again, EVERYONE from person 4 on down was soft. I HATE THIS LENS! because of the softness and pin/barrel cushioning from centre to outer edges. I don't want to correct that in LR or PS, I want images sharp of people straight out of the camera. If I want "soft" or blurry, I will use my 70-200 2.8 and focus on foreground and have my bg blurry or vice versa. I am about to sell mines
