Thank you for posting When the patient has unleveled external auditory meatus which makes the facebow not parallel with the eyes, how can you overcome that?
@centerforard Жыл бұрын
That is an unusual situation and a very good question. I cannot remember that situation occurring. If you had one external auditory meatus significantly lower than the other one, then the bar on the face bow would not be parallel with the pupils of the eyes, i.e., level with the floor. Since the articulator cannot account for the uneven "ear holes," then the face bow mounted on the articulator would not represent the patient's occlusal/incisal plane, so the bite plane would be "canted" and not representative of the patient's bite/occulsal plane. In that case, the face bow would need to be positioned with one ear connector in one external auditory meatus and the other ear connector on the patient's face, not in the opposing external auditory meatus, but parallel with the ear connector in the opposing ear hole. What a great question, one I have never encountered. Thank you for making me really have to think! Take your practice to the Top Tier. You want to also send a face bow mounting so the technician can orient the incisal plane correctly. If you just send models of the prepared teeth, the technician has no way to orient the incisal plane correctly. Take your practice to the Top Tier. Can we use blue mousse or any bite registration paste instead of the pink wax you used?Thank you! Great Job :)
@centerforard4 жыл бұрын
Possibly. If the "other" material you use sets too fast that will be a problem. With pink wax, it doesn't harden until you put it under cold water, so you are not rushed.

Wouldnt it be easier to take posterior bite impresion,to fix jow relation.?
@centerforard4 жыл бұрын
If I understand your question, my answer would be, "No, a posterior bite record would not orient the patient's maxillary arch on the articulator the same way it is oriented in the patient's body."
