You are welcome. Many dentists tell me they do not understand occlusion. I was fortunate to study with some occlusal masters. Occlusion and centric relation is one of the foundations of my practice.

Great video. Its always easy to learn, the way you present your cases. Wanted to know, is it necessary to take bite-registration during facebow transfer?

Bite registration and face bow are 2 different things. Yes, you may also need an occlusal registration record.

Love your videos doc. Im currently a second year dental student and another cool thing we were taught in addition to mounting casts in CO is taking a bite registration of the patient in protrusive. You can transfer the bite material to the articulator and use it to adjust the condylar settings to a more accurate measurement.

Dr. Cutbrith, for which procedures will you mount patient casts using an earbow facebow?

All anterior restorative cases, complex restorative cases (to allow the technician to orient the case correctly) and small diameter implant supported denture cases.

Thank you for a great video. I appreciate it very much. Would you know if a Denar facebow record can be mounted on Dentatus articulator, for example? Could you please tell me if there are industry standards for mounting plate screws, etc., and I can take my Denar facebow record and send it with Dentatus mounting plates to my laboratory? Sorry, I have no idea if the articulator parts are interchangeable. I have used Hanau articulators and face bows for 40 years because they are simple and accurate. But doc. If we have a anterior reference point as a infraorbital notch or nasion for guidance than I think we should not consider that inter pupillary line should be parallel to horizontal rod

It may be different with some other brands of face bow, but this is how it goes with a Hanau facebow.

I think you should mount facebow on patient while he is seated because if patient il laying down mandibula is retruded

The mandible has nothing to do with a face bow. The face bow mounts the maxillae as it is oriented to the skull. The mandible does not close with a face bow.

I believe it is worth while because you are assisting the technician in orienting the maxillae for the denture wax rim as the maxillae is oriented to the skull, ie., establishing a horizon for the wax rim incisal/occlusal plane so the wax rim incisal/occlusal plane is not just randomly in space. I do not enjoy wax rim try ins because they are so imprecise. The face bow and occlusal registration record and a "generally close" vertical dimension pink wax bite record makes the wax rim try in much closer to correct and reduces, not eliminates, the wax rim adjustment required.
