So appreciate you calling out the BS in some of the marketing terms manufacturers throw around! Very clear and well demonstrated information, thanks!

Just had a look at your website after watching this and I’m seeing descriptions which include phrases like ‘20% lighter’ Also, descriptions of some boards aren’t consistent e.g. one Starboard mentions ‘machine weave double laminated dropstitch’ but the others don’t mention anything about the weave, can I assume the other Starboards don’t have machine weave?

Hi John, thanks for your message, my details are 07545882606 or info@supinflatables.co.uk if you want to send me links of where you don't think the Starboard information is consistent. The Starboard Zen are single skin liner dropstich and the Starboard deluxe and takhine boards are double laminated weave and the new Starboard travel boards (Zen Rolls) are single skin weave. Hope that helps clear things up a bit,. Thanks, Emma

Thanks very much Gary, this is exactly what I was looking for, yet theres only you being able to deliver it in an informative, yet understandable way. As a complete beginner who's recently hired a board over two days while in Wales & really enjoyed it, i've unfortunately made a mistake in buying an incorrect board but it's ok, my daughter who's lighter will now use it. It's very light in weight at 6.6kg & the rails havw been made in the cheapest way...as you show in this video. It's 10ft x 30inch x 4.25inch & sold by The Range at £249, though i did buy it at half that on offer. 100kg max usage it says...i'm 76kg, my daughter is 60kg. The thing is I was on a budget & fell for something that I felt was value for money. Thanks to your video, i've now learned. It seems you're in the UK somewhere?

This is perfect timing, I am currently looking for a new board for next season. I'm currently using a Gladiator Pro 12.6 Touring (T) which I really like because it doesn't break the bank but still offers a lot of features and stiffness, but it's a bit on the heavy side I think. I'll keep it as my 2nd board, but I'm looking for something that is just as good in terms of build quality and stiffness, but a little less weight. The reason is that I often have to carry 2 SUPs at once when we go on trips with the kids and our dog. Lugging two Gladiator Pro's around 12 kilos plus paddles and everything is a pain in the ass lol. Is there a board or brand you would recommend that would meet my expectations? I've come across the Liteventure boards, which are pretty light and seem to be of good quality, but I've never seen one in real life!? Also Starboard has some decent boards, especially the 12.6 Touring 30" Single Chamber seems to be a VERY good one, but it "only" weighs about 2 kg less than my board. Last but not least, the Gladiator Elite series seems like a good deal. I'm leaning more towards a smaller (30") board, so that would reduce the weight as well. The Elite 12.6 S weighs about 8.5 kg, which is pretty light even if it lacks some of the features that the Starboard has, but on the other hand it also costs about 30% less...

Hi, Thanks for the message, I looked at the product as haven't really heard of it before with it being Dutch I think.. It's pretty good.. but on the expensive side. 1. it is double laminated weave, like the Gladiator Elite and the Starboard deluxe single chamber. 2. It has a premium double rail edge rather than a triple (with the nose tucked slightly but still a little bit square on the front) - Not a problem but pointing it out in comparison to Sataboard and Gladiator 3. It has a universal fin box, but it's not foldable so this will impact it going into the bag it's designed for. 4. The weight loss of the board is coming from the loss of deckpad, Rather than making the board single-skin. - if you notice the deckpad is very small and deckpads do contribute to the weight of a board. The Pump is the same as Gladiator and Starboard, Gladiator's foot is foldable to allow easier rolling and Starboards foot comes off totally, so I would say this could be updated as they are selling it as a travel board and the feet upgrade is easily purchased from Bravo (this pump manufacture). I think the main upgrade of this board is potentially the bag (notice the paddle does not fit in this, you can see this from their lifestyle video) So, in theory, you could purchase the Gladiator or Starboard and then separately purchase a premium rucksack dry bag, there are some available on the market but they aren't cheap items though. I suppose if you are not massively budget-conscious the other way of solving travelling with lighter boards would be to purchase a red paddle co 12'0 compact board.. as always.. free for a proper chat on 07545882606 - thanks Emma SUP inflatables

@SUPInflatablescouk Hey Emma, thanks for the quick reply! Very good analysis of the Liteventure board, I had about the same thoughts on this one. I am aware that the deck pad is the weight advantage here. I wasn't aware that the paddle doesn't fit in the bag, that's not a huge issue, but definitely something to be aware of. To be honest, we transport the boards in the car most of the time, so I usually don't even use the bag to carry them. I inflate the board right by the car and then take it to the water. When we're out with the kids, it's much easier because I don't plan long hikes with them because I know they want to get in the water as soon as possible, lol. So the real issue is the weight of the board itself to carry. I'm pretty happy with the Gladiator Pro, so maybe the Elite is the best choice. I looked at the Red, pretty cool, but it doesn't have straps on the tail which I really need when I'm out with the kids.

@@TheNightstalker80 Hi, Yes! i think the gladiator elite is poss the best bet too.. to play devil's advocate:) The red board does have D rings to attach cargo straps to the back of the board.. but again to play devil's advocate.. the Gladiator is more durable..:) Emma

@@SUPInflatablescouk you’re just what I needed 😂 I really like the Gladiator board and I had a pretty long chat with a Gladiator rep last year because I had an issue with my paddle, they are SUPER FRIENDLY and really care about customer needs. We talked about the paddle issue as well as some minor issues/inconveniences with the rucksack and they took everything very serious. I think they are really into quality and focused on essentials rather than stuffing (expensive) features into their products. Only thing I‘d really line to see is more color variations and designs, maybe you can do something about that in the future 😁
