I wonder if the only thing stopping all players from averaging 20 is opportunity and playing time. I would love to see what would happen if you gave a random bench warmer the green light to go crazy in 35 minutes of playing time. For example in melos last season in NY he was averaging 30, then he gets sent to OKC to play with Russ and PG and from then on everyone said he was washed.
@ballinforjesus36452 ай бұрын
That's a great point. I bet there isn't much separating the players that avg. 5ppg and the ones that avg 30. They would probably score like 1ppg less than the "superstars". This is the 300-400 best players in the world. I highly doubt if you make most of them the #1 scoring option they would struggle. They would probably all embrace the roll and do almost as well as the "superstars"..
@LeeGHThomas2 ай бұрын
@@ballinforjesus3645If you're looking at ppg sure. Most guards and wings could average 30 over an extended span. Efficiency and the ability to score 60 is what separates the superstars. These are the best players in the world and scals "I'm closer to LeBron than you are to me" holds true but if what you were saying was true there would be 60 teams. There is a reason ultimately that certain guys get that opportunity though. Even among the elite, there are levels to it.
@ballinforjesus36452 ай бұрын
@@LeeGHThomas "there would be 60 teams" is crazy. No. It's just like your common varsity tryouts. Someone makes the team and someone doesn't. If you think the 400 best players out of one million professional caliber players in the world are separated by "levels", you are giving the top 15 percent of the top .0000002 percent way too much credit. It's not like you have the whole WORLD desperately competing to fill 400 spots, and then you have 50 or so of them just randomly be way better than the others. That just appears to be the way you are used to looking at it, probably because of the media always trying to create a god for us to idolize. There is VERY VERY little difference between all 400 of them and a much larger factor that decides which dog gets the bone, is NEPOTISM. Just like anywhere else in the job market. Half the players in the league is the son or brother or 3rd cousin of a coach gm or player. Maybe even the nephew of the mayor of that city. On TOP of the fact that they are an elite player, but they really have 1000 other players that are just as capable. That's the deciding factor, not "levels" of talent.
