You should do more research than just read about the winnie the pooh meme. They found many anti-chinese message hidden in the game code, there are also other puns and wordplays in the game that is against China. The west is only interested in reporting about the meme. I'm not taking sides, but game and politics don't mix.

If a game came out that mocked the US president would that game be banned in the US? No, there are plenty of things that mock the US president that are sold in the US. And the same in plenty of other places in the world. The Chinese have a history of claiming they own Taiwan they are constantly trying to stop other countries having diplomatic relations with Taiwan. They keep threatening Taiwan with force. The Taiwanese have to live with this big bully next to them that won't leave them alone and won't be content until Taiwan concedes to China's demands. I'm enjoying it anyways, because Tom and Lydia are great, but am I the only one who finds these types of horror games really boring? This and Layers of Fear are practically the same game. Shitty father gets haunted by the family he treated like shit and experiences spooky shit while the player slowly pieces things together. I guess I just prefer for it to feel like the player character is actually in danger and not just experiencing some sort of personal hell after they've died or something. I'd say it's tense, but not scary, which...is what I would think the point of horror is. To be scary.
