One final payment? That means the only ones that pass are users. So, if you don’t use you’re never going to die? Utter nonsense! After he was vaxxed, his heart suffered issues and he said in an interview his heart stopped for 5 mins. This time, he’d been playing sport, then he passed with cardiac arrest. You can research this yourself. Look up his old interview. Hear it from his own words. Not from some bloke just speculating. He’s actually insulting Matthew and you! Matthew hasn’t even been gone for 48hrs and you all are being incredibly insulting. Hopefully the way this creator treats people will also be reflected with his final payment, as others will also be able to speculate about him. Fairs fair.

Growing up from a severely dysfunctional family, where alcohol was the major player with my parents, along with our mother's NPD, was a daily hell for my five siblings and I. My own survival technique was using humor to de-escalate the upcoming storms of parental rages. Robin William's death hit me hard, and from his own story I learned that he suffered with a life-long depression as well. The role that some of us had to play, as children, set us up for so many life struggles, but humor got me thru so much of it.

opioids don't harm any organs. alcohol is a different poison but you also have to consume vast amounts over decades for a health problem.addicts don't die from the substance but from the conditions they're forced to consume them in. since for example my country has a great needle exchange program and treats people with more respect our rates of HIV are close to zero where before it was a starting health crisis. give them clean tools and clean drugs in the quantities they obviously need them and there's absolutely no reason why anyone would get sick from it. i hope the USA can get to accepting therapy one day so your society doesn't have to watch hundreds of thousands of people suffer. it works everywhere else so it should work there too.

Before Matthew reached the age of one, his parents divorced. Assuming people don't just get divorced on a whim, problems must have been bubbling underneath the surface for a while. Babies soak up stress both inside and outside the womb and they cannot feel secure in a tense environment with a stressed mother and father, no matter how loving or well-intentioned the parents are. The neural circuitry being laid down during this most crucial time of growth is without a doubt compromised. Clearly not much had gotten better if Matthew felt compelled to ease his pain with alcohol when he was just 14. Childhood trauma can seriously mess you up for life... Psychotherapy twice a week for 30 years, 6,000 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, detoxed 65 times, rehab 15 times. Nobody can accuse him of not trying.

Thank you for your sensitivity in discussing Mr Perry’s life and tragic death. I didn’t watch the show that much but was familiar with the show. I have close family members who fought substance abuse and the two most important ones (to me) were successful in overcoming their addictions and for that I am hugely grateful. To me, Mr Perry’s death is tragic and saddening, regardless of what happened and I believe that his struggles and death have definitely served to help others who are fighting substance abuse. Rest in Peace Matthew…..you are a shining star in the Heavens above us all. 💔💫💔

Thank you for you kind review and analysis, Doc. It’s tragic that Matthew died so young and apparently, alone. We can all pray the cause that led to the drowning was not substance related or a relapse. After trying so hard to fight the battle of addiction, his death would be even more devastating if he lost his battle.

I always felt drawn to Matthew Perry whenever I watched him, either in Friends or in one of his movies. I always felt that I wanted to put my arms around him, hug him tight. Even though I've been fortunate in never having addictions of any kind, I somehow had an affinity with him re his struggles. I loved that his optimism kept him fighting to overcome his demons. May he now rest in the arms of the angels, and find the peace he was looking for so desperately here on earth. 😢 RIP Chandler Bing, my favourite friend ❤ you will be missed. 😢

Thank you for not making sarcastic remarks about Matthew Perry’s addiction problems and death. What you said was really sensitive and profound. He was such a complex but ultimately good person who wanted to help others. I feel like no other cast members on Friends cared about him and this was apparent when he was asked who had kept in touch with him and he said no one. I hope he’s in his happy place now, making everyone in heaven laugh and helping those in need up there. ❤

Mr. Perry was in so much pain, he was a baby who was given phenobarbital because he had colic-doctors prescribed a very dangerous medication. He dealt with a lot of identity issues, but the one he said affected him the most and was a huge source of the pain he medicated was his mother “not noticing him”. Thank you doctor Grande for your wonderful analysis.

I know what it's like to struggle with substance abuse, it took me 15 plus years and almost died from overdosing. We always lose great, talented people way too soon, as they say "only the good die young" and 54 is too young to leave the world. I hope that Matthew's family and friends can heal from this. I know the sadness will never go away, but let's remember how much he made so many people laugh. R.I.P. Matthew.

@@acdcmiami I don't drink or take substances either but tbh I stayed away from them bcs I had the feeling it would be extea difficult for me to stop. I think one part of the issue is that they make you feel a certain way but they also change how you feel when you're not under their influence. So when you don't consume them your state is still altered. Also people use them to cope with various difficulties and oftentimes without even realizing that they even have those difficulties or that they're that bad or that that's the reason why they keep going back to the substances. It sounds silly but it does seem many people go through this. It's true that this abuse is disruptive to their lives and the lives of the people around them. But it's difficult to understand how these substances really influence people. The more they use it and the less they understand what's going on in their psyché... the weaker their willpower is. That's why they really need a lot of external help because in many cases they themselves don't know what is going on and how to succesfully quit, heal and prevent relapses. I don't consume any substances either but I'm interested in the topic. I hope this was useful insight to you.

I interviewed Perry last year when his book was published. A very sweet, kind and soft-spoken guy, and of course very funny. He had me laughing so hard at one point, I almost spit my coffee on him (without missing a beat, he told me in a mock serious tone: "Whoah, there, Rob -- have you got a drinking problem you didn't warn me about?" I remember thinking that his comedic timing was still pitch perfect.) But I also recall being struck by that sadness and melancholy Dr. Grande discussed. He would take these long, reflective pauses when talking about his past, especially when it came to his time on "Friends", and when he laughed, it often seemed forced, like there was an overwhelming feeling of regret or mournfulness that he was trying to hide, but couldn't quite pull off. It's often the sweetest, most and sensitive and thoughtful among those with substance abuse disorder who have the hardest time getting clean. I suspect it's because they're so caring, helpful and considerate that they don't want to "bother" anyone with their problems. The sad irony is that those are the ones whose friends and family WANT to help the most -- they don't ever think of it as a bother at all. I hope he has found the peace in death that seemed to allude him so much of the time in life.

Your statement should be read out to every 12-step recovery group. I'm an addict with 8+ years clean and yes, some of the consequences are lifelong. The devil will have his due and the piper expects to be paid. Again and again. My drug use lasted about 4 years, but I did 10 years worth of damage. I lost my first husband, my house, my occupation as a nurse, and many friends and family. Nothing I can do will ever bring things back to the way they were, and there's some relationships that cannot ever be restored. Trust and respect are everything. If I did that much damage in 4 years, I can't imagine what decades would do. Rest in peace to Matthew Perry and I hope he finds the peace he sought in life in the hereafter.

I find the most understandable part of this tribute to be that always seeking laughter from an unknown audience was what caused his greatest pain and suffering. Life is rarely full of humor, and seeking acceptance for something so foreign would be nearly impossible. Substances often give us the sense that we’re winning, when reality is the opposite. People who have never taken a pill, or a drink, and felt for the first time that they are not a failure, can’t comprehend why someone doesn’t just not take the pill when their lives are crumbling around them. Feeling for once that you are not a burden or a failure is a powerful emotion. Admitting one’s vulnerability is not as simple for many. If you’ve never struggled with that level of physical or emotional pressure, be thankful and humble, not hateful. Compassion is a powerful gift for all living beings.

I was never much of a TV fan myself, however once I started watching FRIENDS, I immediately fell in love with both the show and the character of Chandler Bing, because I could relate to him so much and I still do till this very day. As for Matthew Perry himself, I also do believe that his portrayal of Chandler was not simply just a work of memorized script. In a way he was being himself - maybe because it was his first big role? Like with Jim Carrey and his iconic performances as Stanley Ipkiss or Ace Ventura. In Jim's case all of his characters have a unique piece of his own self that no one else could ever replicate and when I look at some of Matthew's other roles I can always notice a bit of Chandler in all of them - not because it's the same likeable face, but rather because all of these roles were brought to life by one and the same amazing actor who spent so so so much time working with them, bonded with them and finally left a piece of himself within each one of them. All of his roles represent his own soul in a way and thanks to them he will live forever in our memory as well as our hearts ❤ Chandler may be the most similar to how the real Mathew Perry felt, to how deep and complicated he was, to how truly all he ever wanted was to make everyone happy while he himself could not find fulfillment in his seemingly successful life, no matter how much he tried. He must've felt truly lonely... Which ironically reminds me of that one episode where Chandler became paranoid over his future after their elderly neighbour passed away alone in his apartment. Chandler feared he might end up the same way one day - luckily he didn't, because he found Monica and along with her a new purpose in his life. Maybe, just maybe, if Matthew was an ordinary guy like his character from the show, he'd also find his happiness eventually, but unfortunately the world of Golden Globes and money is usually filled with loneliness... Rest In Peace, my guy and may you find what you've been looking for in your afterlife [*] ❤[*] Once I get there myself, I'll ask you for your autograph XD

Absolutely excellent. One thing remains a mystery: Matthews personal relationships, family, personal friendships, children etc. Was he very much alone, or did he have support structures of some sort that might've helped him weather his personal challenges?. One thing is appears certain: He really cared enough to use his fame to help others in similar circumstances but was he receiving or accepting help from others who could have made a difference. A complex and substantial character with great depth and infinitely likeable if his stage persona and later interviews are anything to go by - certainly an extremely sad loss, but a bittersweet reminder of how transient life can be. Revelations of his addiction and his attempts to come to terms with it raises my personal opinion of him above words. God's child will indeed be welcomed HOME.
