But you make complete sense when you say that a lot of ppl in the black community do polygany and are comfortable with it because it’s already a part of the culture. If we are ONE Ummah as Rasul'Allah (s.a.w.) said, then the entire Ummah ( myself included) must eschew all these dunya western vices and distractions no matter what "sect" we may be. First we have correct our own affairs and our familys and apply what's correct and ask Allah to guide the people. Because the success is with Allah and following the messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. We need to seek knowledge and then apply it. Encourage the people to seek knowledge. Seek knowledge

He is getting his family and the blessing of having a halal relationship that should help the both of them to jannah. If a man cant afford the amount of the dowry she is asking for he can state what he is able to afford. She may ask for whatever but its if you can afford it to begin with. If you cant then you cant or save for it. Or the couple can come to some sort of agreement. And the dowry is a marital gift ordained by Allah. And Allah knows best. Hope this helped some. May Allah make things easy for us.

However as a man if you can’t afford the dowry or the sister is not within your capacity to provide care then you shouldn’t marry her. There are some very good sister in our communities and there are very good men. I think our biggest issues is forgetting to put Allah first. For myself I’ve been married for almost 30 years Alhamdulillah.

It's a Hadith that the prophet Muhammad (saws) asked a companion what did he have to offer the women he wanted o marry and he said nothing but his waist sheet but if he gave that then he'd be pretty much naked so the messenger (saws) told him to find a iron ring and he found a iron ring so the messenger (saws) married him.to the sister. That's proof that the man offers the women something and she either accepts it or not.

If the streets is ALL you knew before Islam then chances are most actions don't just disappear upon the utterance of the shahaadatayn.
