Yea but this song was also about her husband, who ended up divorcing her. I remembered this song as a tribute to her husband, that was there for her when her father wasn’t. And then they divorced and from I heard it wasn’t nice and he broke her heart. So this song, while beautiful, makes me think of heartbreak. It didn’t last and that made me sad.

I was an English major. Words, versus life, death, love, time, and the big universals is an unfair matchup. If I had words that would " fix" your pain, I'd have used them on myself, a long time ago, polished them a bit, cleaned the ugliness of my sobbing off, and given you the best words I could have, because as a human, I should do things like that. But my words aren't magic enough for that. Not by a hundred miles. So, all I can do is pray for you, and maybe remind you of the beautiful gift you had in her, like you needed me to do that. So, I'm sorry your wonderful wife is gone. But I'm glad you had someone so awesome in your life. I wish you love, and healing ,. And when you reunite, more of the same. Amen.

I'd like to thank Kelly for being brave enough to make this song. I didn't have a father in my life and did not pick the best father for my daughter which "piece by piece" was in part much about my daughter's life and her father's life. I've listened to this song dozens of times for the deeper meaning and just the artistry she brings to the song. The live version on American Idol is my favorite. She is one of the best!

Harry's song about his nan got me. My grandma is currently in a nursing home and we can't see her because of Covid (2022 in Australia, nursing homes still closed). It is upsetting as she loves her family and we used to see her regularly. She is now suffering mild dementia and not having family see her makes its worse. Harry is brilliant. My grandmother passed away with Alzheimer’s 8 years ago. Her children, aside from my father basically threw her into a nursing home and forgot her. When I’d come to visit, she’d grab my arm tightly and ask, “when can I go home?”, and I’d just sit in the parking lot and cry my eyes out. She’d given power of attorney to the wrong person, and there was absolutely nothing I could do. Needless to say, the song about Alzheimer’s made me cry

Kelly’s song was so beautiful. Made me cry. Our stories are very similar. My dad left when I was 3 and my mom had 5 kids and now I’m married to someone who’s shown me such godly unconditional love and I praise the Lord for that. Our trials and heartbreaks are what can motivate us to be better examples than the ones before us.

Thank you for telling the story of Josh Daniel's friend Tom. My son is going through a lot right now. APRIL, 2,2022 His Best-friend Conner was MURDERED on the way to our house. A group of his friends were celebrating one of their birthdays at the park around the corner at the middle school park. Conner and two others were walking to my house to grab my son and more food. When 3 TEENAGERS ON BIKES came up to them throwing gang signs. (not only were NONE of them gang members but they were all different races). Conner tried to explain that NONE of them were in gang and they have the wrong group. One of the teens punched Conner in the face and when my son's other friends jumped in to stop it They TEENS ATTACKING PULLED OUT A GUN AND SHOT IN POINT BLANK IN THE CHEST. KILLED HIM INSTANTLY. THE 3 THAT KILLED HIM RAN AWAY ON THEIR BIKES AND HAVE NOT BE CAUGHT. so when i hear songs like this it hits me so different now. Conner was a huge part of our family and he is missed everyday and HOPEFULLY HIS KILLERS WILL BE CAUGHT SOON.

I have a friend who worked in aged care. At one point she worked in an Alzheimer's unit. Her grandmother and her mother both had Alzheimer's so she figured she would likely get it as well so she was programming her brain so she could get out of the unit if she was put in one. she had many things she said she wanted to do. She basically was dealing with it through humor.

The "Not Alone" one got me, just because I relate to it so much. My great grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it got to the point where she didn't even remember that I existed. It broke my heart when we went to go visit her and she hugged everyone else telling them that they looked so handsome or beautiful, saying she hadn't seen them in years even though we had just been to see her a few weeks before, then she looked at me and said "oh hi, you look so pretty, have we met before?". Everyone in the room went dead silent and just looked at her for a moment as I started to tear up. I was her oldest great grand child, the one she knew longer than any of them, and she didn't remember who I was. My dad started to explain who I was to her and she said "I'm sorry dear, I don't remember you, but I'm sure you're a wonderful person." Any time we visited after that, someone always had to explain who I was. She eventually started to forget more people, but it hurt that I was the first to be forgotten. She passed away a few years later, but she wrote letters to everyone before she did. We were told that someone helped her to remember all of us so she could write them. Mine was the shortest, but it brought me to tears. It said: "Hi sweetheart, I don't quite remember who you are, but I know you're my family. I know that you remember more of me than I do of you, but I want you to know that the small memories I do have are happy ones. I know that this letter will be a sad memory for you, but I want you to keep smiling for me. Keep drawing. Keep writing. Keep singing. I love the songs you've sung for me, and I hope others get to hear them, too. Love, grandma Teresa."

I lost my daughter, so Josh's song and story ALWAYS make me cry. I can relate to the emotion behind Harry Gardner and "Not Alone" and the beauty and simplicity of "A Different Corner" by George Michaels. The lyrics to both touched my heart, but the biggest tear trigger was Piece by Piece and Kelly Clarkson. She really can tell a story that I buy into. The kids joy made me laugh and giggle. They were well chosen songs and performances.

Kelly singing that song gets me EVERYTIME. My dad left when I turned 18 without saying goodbye even the years before he chose alcohol and drugs over me and my sister but him leaving like we never mattered still gets me still breaks my heart. I watched him die a very fast death when I found out he had cancer and convinced him to come home to be with family for his last days/weeks/months that he was here. I made up with him and he died with us on a good note but I never got the answer to why he just up and left us like we didn't matter to him at all. And he had pictures of us still in his wallet and kept so many from our childhood that broke me that he hid how much he loved us that he never showed us that love aside from when we were kids. I don't thinkI will ever heal 😭😭
