When a judge is disrespectful, hateful and completely disregards the contestant's feelings to a point where he loses all respect and empathy in the way they talk to them, that's when you know they shouldn't be judging. She writes a song for her grandmother who passed away, a song that quite literally gave her her voice back after losing it with such a tragedy, and he has the guts to say that the song 'is nothing'? What kind of human does that?
Howie is a moron--was convinced to play the bad guy because poor simon was tired of being the villian

Her song was heartfelt, true to her, and you could hear the raw emotion in her voice. That is authentic TALENT! He claims the quirky songs are what he liked but he failed to see what the song with the hate comments actually represented, it means to keep moving forward when you get thrown obstacles, not to by “quirky”. Not only did Howies lack of ethical reasoning upset me, but when he said “this was nothing” infuriated me. He insulted a beautifully written song, with so much meaning behind it. You can’t expect someone to be “quirky” all the time the same way you can’t expect someone to be “happy” all the time, she’s a human being and she made songs based off of emotions she was feeling. I can't believe how many people think Madylin was trying to gain any pity. She didn't take the hate comments seriously you know, _that's why she made it into a fun song._ In fact, she was doing that on her channel for a while. When everyone was encouraging her to sing an original song instead of a cover, she decided to sing the song that was a HIT on KZbin and that was "Red Ribbon." I love it, my family loves it, and it's honestly one of her best original songs. I agree with Howie, which is rare! My opinion is she needed something to stop the slippage of TV audience, so she pulled out the pity card, like many contestants do! Madilyn Baily got away from why the judges picked her in the first place. I guess if you don't want to join the pity party, that makes you,as Simon would say, " an ASS"!

@@macmclaughlin6200 I follow her outside of the show and when she wrote and published this song a couple years ago I was FLOORED. it’s an incredible song (music video is great too). I would’ve been disappointed if she didn’t perform it! So I don’t think she’s trying to garner sympathy. She’s playing one of her biggest hits which she also wrote. It would be strange to not say anything about what the song is about. And now we all got to see pictures of her beautiful grandma. No problem with any of this except for howie’s irrational response. Not sure why he’s speaking angrily haha if he’s disappointed, he can still acknowledge some good aspect of the performance.

@@meganmclelland4860 Thank you and well said. I also have followed Madiyn for YEARS on youtube and know that this song isn't a recent "pity party" attempt, but rather, her showing exactly the type of artist she is and wants to be. she's so much more than a hate comments singer and I'm so glad she sung Red ribbon as more than one of us 'fans' wanted her to because it's a powerful emotional song, it's raw... and it's real. Nothing put on or fake about it as a pity party. she felt every word of that performance, you could tell. and Howie saying it was "nothing" was a pretty heartless and also, untrue thing to say when it was many things... maybe not what he wanted but still very FAR from nothing. I doubt very much another hate comments song would have put her through, her new song, however, may have.

@@macmclaughlin6200 I don't think she was trying to pull out the "pity party" card at all, last time she did a cover, they said to do her own material and she did! she showcased her voice which the first audition did not. she showed her versatility that she is much more than a quirky tweats song writer, but a whole package, and her goal is to be a singer songwriter, not someone who puts youtube comments together s a song. How far would she have gone if she had just continued on with that? it's only a novelty once... I also feel her last song, which she never got to do on got Talent, pulled it all together an that song can be seen on her channel. We all know that shows like this are for the most part, staged and manipulated by the producers to create tension and get more views. It's very likely the judges are told what to say, even when it's at the expense of the contestant. Madilyn more than proved her worth by handling it all so well. Many of her youtube fans encouraged her to do this song as we all love it.

That was incredible! This song is soooo pretty and Madilyn sang so amazing even tho she was emotional, and I didn't even notice her voice crack cuz she is so good at singing. She 100% earned her spot on agt and she should have won. she's amazing!

I'm appaled by Howie's comments! That was absolutely cruel. Good for Madilyn handling it well, hopefully what she'll remember from that night will the beautiful tribute and the comments from the other judges!

first of all thank you for posting this- i was unfortunately unavailable to watch the show tonight, and i couldn’t find a clip of her performance with the judge comments! but in my opinion madilyn did not deserve this at all. nobody should have to lose somebody they love, and her songwriting ability, singing talent, and everything is absolutely incredible. im personally voting for her, she deserves to be in the finals. we believe in you, madilyn!!

This song was absolutely beautiful, and she nailed the emotions that she needed for it, while handling those high notes and playing. Kudos to her!!! ❤️ 🎀

Howie Mandel definitely has a sinister side. I’ve seen him on live streams before be very dismissive and rude. Some performers are multifaceted. I commend her on her performance showing her range.

She wrote this song herself with amazing lyrics. I love that she's not necessarily doing the same thing over and over.

As someone who has been going through the same thing as her, losing my grandmother, I have to say I felt every part of that song through and through. Even emotional she sounded so effortlessly, you are amazing Madilyn don't let anyone tell you different. And thank you for this masterpiece, it makes me want to cry. 😢😍❤

That wasn't even criticism anymore, just actual insults. He could've worded that better. Calling a song written for someone's deceased grandma and calling it nothing- just insensitive and rude. He shouldn't be proud of the words he just said, I'm not a fan of Madilyn, but I feel for her.

@@lunarwhiplash1880 she never said she did ever, it's just disgusting that you would think she is that kind of person, and even if she was, you have 0 proof of that, and fans sharing their opinions is none of your concern unless you have something nice to say about it, also I have been reading the comments and you have been commenting a lot, WTH DO YOU MEAN???
