Man, I tell you, I would love to have a time machine just to go see pro wrestling and life in Montreal in those days. The talent pool was so deep in the Montreal pro wrestling.

Been waiting for this one! I was raised in Kingston , Ontario and I used to watch it. I remember Eddie the Brain and Pretty Boy Floyd Kreatchman and Milt Auvriskin, who used to smoke.

great stuff!!! btw, i hate to nit-pick, but the promoter's last name is pronounced val-wah, not val-oy. the arena, paul so-vay (sauve), not swa-vay. pierre "mad dog" le-fev, not whatever you said, lol, no offense. it's a french-canadian thang...

This was one of my favourite promotions in the 80’s. Being form Toronto Tunney had flipped from the NWA to WWF and took most of the TV spots with them. I have two great memories form this time: First was a TV spot between the Road Warriors against Dino Bravo and King Tonga (aka Haku). It was one of the first non-WWF matches I saw that I thought rivalled the Mid-South, WCCW and NWA matches I read about in PWI. Few could rival that match. Second was a live show at the Scarborough area in ~87-88 in the suburbs of Toronto between Abdula and Gino Brito. After several great WWF shows at the 17K seat Maple Leaf Gardens, I finally felt I had been to a true wrestling show. It was small, intimate and fantastic. I loved International Wrestling and all the talent that entertained on the shows I recorded on Saturday afternoons.

@@harrymonsoon739 let me see what I have. I know I have a bunch of them not sure what tho. Me and my grandma where huge fans of wrestling growing up we would go to shows all over. We would go to Mexico and Canada once a year and watch wrestling. I got to meet Bret hart his bro Owen and I got to meet Ray Mysterio Jr also before they got big in WWF & WCW.

When Jacques Sr went to Japan in 1967, he met another french-canadian Oreal Perras. Wrestling under the name Red McNulty who wrestled in Vancouver aera and had only low paying matches. He told him to shave his hairs; become russian under the name Ivan Koloff and go to Montreal for a serious push. In november 68, Koloff vs Johnny Rougeau made the highest North America Attendance record of 20,890 at the Montreal Forum. Source Laprade and Hebert.

You mention Pierre Trudeau who was unrelated to wrestling yet neglect to mention that Johnny Rougeau was the legit bodyguard of René Lévesques when he ran for prime minister of Québec (as one of those so-called "radicals")

Not absolutely correct, McMahon senior used to handle Andres bookings and often did the deals that sent Andre to Japan and around the territory’s. He did stop touring in 84 but mainly because of ill health and a lack of ability to work any longer. Hulk managing to make wrestlemania 3 as good as it was was a real achievement Andre could barley move by this point and was in great pain, hence them trying to find the next giant, a replacement for Andre who was physically incapable any more of being the big attraction. Such a shame he never got the same treatment the big show did, as he may still be alive today if he had.
