@Ji H um what? Did you play Berseria?
@SH1NK1R013 жыл бұрын
To be completely honest. The berseria cast is largely carried by magilou. Most of the memorable interactions are caused by or involve her in some way. After having completed and platinumed the game the arise cast is much less lopsided. Each character has both a main narrative arc that is significant to the plot and a side content contribution based on their quirks or interests. In berseria only velvet and laphicet actually mattered. The other members were related to many of the villains but they weren’t actually necessary. Something that velvet herself tells them all the time up until the end. So yeah. I’d agree this one is actually better.
@golfer4353 жыл бұрын

@cRub3r3 жыл бұрын
That's not even vaguely what the review says. It says the racial themes are there from the "very start"
@nothanks70633 жыл бұрын
@@cRub3r Still wrong. In Symphonia the discrimination of both humans and half elves is established very early on when humans are shown being used as cattle by the Desians in the human ranch, and when the mayor of Iselia exiles Lloyd and Genis after the Marble incident and very specifically mentions Raine and Genis' status as a half-elves as part of the reason he's being exiled. The racial conflict is established even earlier in Symphonia 2 during the opening scenes as Kratos explains the mistreatment of the Sylvaranti by the Tethe'Allans has directly resulted in the creation of the Vanguard, the fall of the Church of Martel and the burning of Palmacosta. Similarly, Vesperia opens with a crisis with a broken aque blastia in the lower quarter and the absoute refusal of the nobles and knights to help out or even care; a little later the discrimination of the guilds by the empire is established as soon as they are first introduced in Caer Bocram. And while the racial element isn't initially apparent in Xillia, the entire plot is based on it, as the only reason Rashugal created the Lance of Kresnik is because Gilland fooled them into thinking it was a spyrix weapon, when in reality he planned all along to tear down the schism with it so Elympios could come in and harvest the population of Rieze Maxia as fuel. I will however concede that the mistreatment of replicas in Abyss and Fodran robots in Graces are both late plot points.

Well, looking back at my earlier pre-release comment about hoping it can live up to Berseria or Xillia is amusing. Do I have to play any of the previous games to appreciate this or understand the story? Very interested in getting this.
@SH1NK1R013 жыл бұрын
Nope. Completely self contained. Some terminology is re used but anything needed to understand the game, it’s world, and it’s story is entirely within the game itself.

If this game were scored for what it is meant to be, it probably would have been a 9.5/10 from here. Downsides are "anime tropes; and too much chit-chat during battle?" that's exactly what this franchise is made of! If they ditch that, it's not "Tales of" anymore!

Just because it's always been that way doesn't make it any less annoying
@EbonySeraphim2 жыл бұрын
@@mvhess except you’re hating on stuff that is still relevant and visible in the country of origin for the material. You know what’s more tired? WWI, WWII, Vietnam War, modern day anti-terror warfare, and future warfare games. They’re all trash and it’s time Call of Duty and Battlefield tackle some ancient civilizations without guns, maybe not western world centered. If that sounds stupid to you and against the identity of those franchises then you should see that is exactly what you’re saying needs to happen with Tales of. The character design, visuals and personality is tied for #1 and #2 defining features of the franchise with the action battle system evolution and it’s rooted in Japanese culture over western ones. If you don’t like it, move along. They can push more relatable themes in the story and tame the extreme presentations of it, but to ask to get rid of it is identity-breaking. Just play another action RPG

@@EbonySeraphim I have never played a Call of Duty game. I'm very much a fan of single player games, and I am a fan of jrpgs. I've played all the Yakuza games, scarlet nexus, Persona, final fantasy and the list goes on and I'm willing to put up with the constant groaning and gasping and all that but like I said it doesn't make it any less annoying. I never played a Tales game but I plan on playing this one at some point... But at least in the footage shown here, there wasn't a half second that went by when someone wasn't shouting. As someone who normally wears headphones, I'm just wondering if I'll be able to put up with it.

Really excited for this game. Hoping it can live up to the awesomeness that was Tales of Berseria, and how great Tales of Xillia is, because those are easily my two favourite games and casts in the series thus far.

My first Tales of game, sounds like it will be spectacular.
@thegamegifter013 жыл бұрын
It's decent, but form some reason being over rated by most places. Not sure why. Maybe it's the visuals. It looks pretty good. My biggest issue is that it feels like it's trying to move closer to the Xenoblade games, but it's still far behind them. It's way too linear, and most of the side quests just occur right along the path where your next story mission is. The game constantly turns off fast travel for seemingly no reason other than to artificially extend the length of the game. Boss fights are insanely long, and the game seems to want you to buy the DLC to make it easier on you - it even has a DLC option on the campfire menus.

One thing that got some fans disappointed was the lack of multiplayer. Tales games always had co-op multiplayer for the battles, but Arise ditched it, probably due to the new combat system.

I was surprised by this game, came in with low expectation ofc, but did think that I'd like the characters this much, Berseria's cast still better imo but Arise is great too.

Already got mine pre-ordered and sent out, should hopefully be here in the morning a day early. Between this, trying to get better at Chivalry 2, earning enough MGP to get the Regalia in FF14 and the final season of Lucifer hitting Netflix, the next week or so are gonna be very busy for me. I might still be able to go to work if I really try though.
