I was confused as to why Barriss looked so old in such a short time jump, but apparently it's because force healing takes a tremendous toll on the body, which I guess makes sense, but I wish they would have explained that in some way lol.

I think Barriss and Morgan were selected to show two contrasting ways to respond to the temptation of the dark side: Morgan was offered a way out with the mountain clan and Barriss was offered a way in deeper with the Inquisitorious, yet Morgan dug herself in deeper and Barriss got herself out (and saved Lyn to boot). They were both products of their experiences and handled their individual circumstances completely differently. Great commentary, guys. I really prefer reaction videos like yours: where the commentators watch the show and then have an intelligent conversation about it, as opposed to so many who act like the obnoxious movie patron who talks incessantly and makes a spectacle of themselves.

Hey, good perspective on why they selected the two characters for the series. And thank you! I feel like we react pretty kind of over hyping ourselves up and of course the conversation is our bread and butter. Hope to have more ones like this if we start a podcast soon

This arc was really really cool! BUT I WANT MORE! I can't believe they teased Vader like that for just one episode. But good thing we got closure with Barris here, very different character, doesn't agree with the jedi, doesn't agree with the sith, she's in between but she's not like Ahsoka, she's just LOST, completely lost. So much talent for nothing.

I think Lynn was the same Inquisitor lady from the kenobi show?? I don’t recognize her from anything else. But it’s cool we get to see inquisitors from so many different things; Ahsoka, Obi Wan, Tales of the Jedi, Rebels, etc. all in one episode

Sorry (kinda) ahead of time for the long comment, but like laying it all out. Episode 4: Such a good episode! Interesting to see this kind of recruiting for the Inquisitors, rather than torturing like Trilla Suduri/Second Sister, then again others willingly joined like the Grand Inquisitor, etc. I wonder if Barriss ever had to go through Vader's "training" which caused mutilation (like 5th & 6th Brother and 7th & 9th Sister). Also the black armor of those clones seem to be the phase 0 armor of the purge troopers. Episode 5: Very good episode! You'd think I'd be numb to the callous depravity of dark siders by now, but I guess I'm not (guess that's a good thing). That poor kid is so traumatized now. I wonder what the ultimate fate of that Jedi is? I've got no problem with more Jedi survivors in Canon, because just like the old Legends/EU continuity those Jedi couldn't stop Vader and Sidious, they weren't powerful enough. Luke was powerful enough and the only one (besides Leia) to be a key to Vader's future (rather than just a reminder of his past). Those other Jedi were never going to be massive players, sure they could cause ripples, but they weren't the tsunami. Episode 6: I liked this story, but I'm still left wanting about the ending. Not whining about it, though I want a closed conclusion rather than an open end when it comes to Barriss' and the Fourth Sister's fate. But I really am proud of how Barriss changed, I just wish she didn't do what she did and then pin it on Ahsoka. I will always love how Star Wars in both the Canon and Legends/EU continuities is a redemption story. Guess my faith plays a part in that, I'm a Christian like Shane.

Hey thanks for the comment and breaking it all down like that. I loved how it ended and I also am a sucker for a good redemption story. I think because of how circular it was is what made me really love it. And Thats a good way to describe survivors. Waves but now the tsunami. Much love and thanks for the comment

I said this in another comment section, but I will put it here since you touched on it a bit in this video: It’s interesting how easy it is (imho) for those who watch Star Wars to somewhat forgive or have legitimate empathy for those who went to the dark side. We see this with Vader, Ventress, Bariss, and more. Vader and Ventress murdered thousands of people and were cold-blooded killers. Barris was a terrorist and killed many people. It reinforces the idea that no matter how bad someone is, as long as they did it for the right reasons then we can forgive them, which I don’t subscribe to at all. This is a conversation that I think was had in the rebellion itself, as we saw it unfold in season 3 or 4 of Rebels, where Saw Gerrera was at odds with Mon Mothma over his way of fighting the Empire. That's more forgivable (justified) because the Empire didn’t fight fair either. I understand that the pendulum swings between good and bad throughout our lives, but there is definitely a line that should not be crossed. With that said, I think the Bariss storyline was great. I do wish we had gotten some more time with her to repent (for lack of a better word) for what she did during the Clone Wars.
@jeffandjoannbauer95675 ай бұрын
Good points. I inferred from the story that Barriss was reflecting a lot while rotting in jail, and was already starting to doubt the course she was on. The two shock troopers chambering rounds while awaiting her answer to Lyn's invite forced her to attempt to make the best of her situation, and allowed her to rationalize the Inquisitorious as a not-so-bad option, but after Lyn's rampage finally had to confront what she was doing and the evil of it. I think in many cases, evil people don't actually view themselves as evil, and that allows them to justify all sorts of things. Barriss was finally placed in a situation that she could no longer deny, and unlike Morgan, changed her path.

@@TheNinjaBees I mean its probably not on the jedis list either of priority. The jedi are not about the individual. They forake all lands and titles. They forgo the invididual and they are the colective. I feel this slightly goes against that.

@@3rdstreetreactions yeah exactly. It’s all about letting go of your material attachments and becoming one with, or flowing with,the force. I think I’d agree, but the Jedi are known to be respectful of other’s points of view. Or at the very least, there’s some interesting story examples of Jedi going against the code for their own reasons like; Ki-Adi-Mundi having many wives because of his race’s need. Or Quinlin Vos being well connected to the criminal underground.

Is Barriss Offee a force healer? Which means she is still breathing right and by putting her hand on the wound?
@3rdstreetreactions5 ай бұрын
I dont know it one can do that as a jedi. Its suppose to be selfless. You're taking your life force and giving it to someone who needs it. I dont think you can easily give it to yourelf. Although in shadows of the empire Vader was able to temporaily heal his lungs and breath normally but the joy of breathing chased away the power of the darkside that was fueling the technique.

I feel like people are making the pronoun thing out to be way bigger than it is. Personally I couldn't tell what gender the jedi was so I think "they" was an appropriate word to use. Though maybe I'm just more used to the usage of "they" than some older fans, so it didn't bug me. Heck, I didn't even notice they used that word until I saw people whining about it online.
@MarieS6105 ай бұрын
I mean, it looked like a male character to me. And when it was said “they are still alive” “they” this and that… I was sooo confused thinking there were more Jedi somewhere. Given that the word “Jedi” can mean both a singular Jedi or a group of them, it was very confusing when the word “they” was used. And I’m clearly not the only one who thought so. It felt kind of shoe horned in for no reason. It just really took me out of the scene. The pro-noun thing is always going to be a hot topic, I feel like if Star Wars was gonna tackle that, it should’ve been executed better and for a character that matter more.
