I like an explanation I saw online saying Barris looked a lot older in a short matter of time because she used her own life energy to heal people.
@tomkadams8 ай бұрын
I see the "one more Jedi" line as less of a declaration of her feeling like a true Jedi again, and more her declaring that she is no longer an Inquisitor. From the perspective of the Empire, any former Jedi that they are hunting is still a Jedi and a threat even if those individuals no longer consider themselves to be Jedi.

Remember Maarva’s message during her funeral in the finale of Andor, she mentioned that Ferrix was left alone by the Empire because of the things Ferrix could provide. Elsbeth’s village didn’t want the Empire coming to them. They wanted the financial security and autonomy that would come from being an imperial contractor…by providing essential services, as Ferrix did, the Empire would leave them alone. Elsbeth recklessly attracted the Empire’s attention to their resources while she was bragging and now, instead of deterring the Empire, she simply turned over her people to a different faction of the Empire, but the Empire nonetheless.

Lots of people were theorizing that Vader and Barriss would acknowledge each other. I might be in the minority, but I didn't believe they would, and am happy they didn't. Ahsoka had to fight and breach his helmet before she recognized the man he used to be. Yes, she got a feeling about his identity before that, but went back on that deduction, being unable to grasp anything familiar to Anakin Skywalker. Vader is just a completely different beast, even with how he feels to others through the Force. Now, Vader is certain to recognize Barriss, but I would theorize that he's viewing her as someone he's aware of primarily through her reputation. Any connection to her from his life as Anakin Skywalker is completely severed. Vader speaking about Anakin - we've seen this all throughout his time as Vader- it's almost always in the third person POV. It wasn't just a way to disguise his past, it's genuinely how he felt and saw himself, as a completely different entity than Anakin. His presence in the Force reflects that. So, did Vader recognize Offee? I would say yes.... But not with any personal emotions tied to that recognition. He knows who she is, perhaps his former self's memories serve as deeper context for her official records. But nothing that would spur an emotionally-charged eruption to her appearance among the Inquisitors. He's THAT detached.

Staying on the right path takes wisdom and patience.

My understanding of Barriss' issues with the Jedi was always that it was about what the order had become (war involvement), not about what it was supposed to be or what it initially was. I think the way she talks about it in the 6th episode makes that very clear, and that also explains how she so confidently declared herself a Jedi.

The voice on the ambassador’s com in “the Path to Hate” was Bo…she most likely reached out to Ahsoka alerting her to check in on Corvus…TOTE e6 “The way out” is set months after “Kenobi”…when Barriss said:I’m sending you to an old friend THAT told me Ahsoka & Barriss reconnected & Ahsoka forgave Barriss for what happened in “The Wrong Jedi”….only question this episode left me with is what planet is Barriss on is it Hoth?

Barris' redemption is sooooo right. It seems she's mastered the healing ability-- which Rey explained uses a person's life energy - which explains why she looks souch older than Lyn. The big question is, does the final episode take place after Lyn's brief Kenobi appearance? I sure hope so. It would be nice to learn Lyn and Barris survived to help others- not as Jedi, but as force users.

6:40 Yes, and no, right. I mean, eventually, Anakin arrives on Mustafar and kills everyone in the Trade Federation and shuts down all the droids, so yeah, they will eventually leave them alone. Palpatine wanted the Night Sisters gone, and they are gone--he didn't know about the mountain clan, and current continuity suggests that everyone stayed away from Dathomir. I can't wait to see what Filoni does, as there clearly is more story to be told there. 18:33 Well, things didn't go as they had hoped the first time, and since they turned on Morgan, she punished the townsfolk for betraying her when she proved her worth to Thrawn. Yikes! Had they backed her completely, things might have played out differently. Morgan is loyal, and her military designs and story are one of protection, so it is safe to assume that she would have treated her people fairly. They were doing fine before the Empire came, thriving even. 23:03 True, but weren't the stories shown chronologically? These ones are. 28:20 Isn't Morgan's hate aimed at those who doubt her. First, it was the Imperials she was giving a presentation to and then it was those she had befriended on Corvus. They turned on her, so she dialed it up to eleven and turned on them. Morgan was looking for a place to call home, and she was turned away at every turn, even on Dathomir, granted that one was her own doing ='( 29:17 I thought Morgan burned everything down around her because of what the ambassador said here 25:15. Morgan had suffered, she wanted everyone else around her to understand what suffering felt like. Too bad there wasn't anyone around that could have given her a hug way back when. 38:59 I don't know if Barriss got what she wanted. Her story starts with her still very connected to the Jedi--she hears their screams as they're being murdered--and she reluctantly takes the path before her. Barriss wanted to survive, and she did what she had to to do just that; she isn't devoted to this cause. I like how she put on her helmet before saying "Long live the Empire." She didn't let her true self speak those words. 46:16 Did she renounce her heritage though? She disagreed with the war, but she didn't hate her people--maybe I need to rewatch season five, but that wasn't my feeling at the time. I recall her wanting to the Jedi to stop policing the galaxy and waging wars. That and the f'ed up part of Barriss framing Ahsoka to make a point. Still, the opening of the last episode showed that she was still very much tied to her past life. Her family's screams and horror woke her from her sleep ='( 46:46 Qui-Gon Jinn =) 50:28 I want this story! How did that encounter play out? This is a fun series. We need more of these. Dare I say a part two? The next series however will probably be called Tales of the Rebellion followed by Tales of the New Republic, if we are going chronologically. The storytelling and the animation are sooooooooooooooooo much better than the Bad Batch and that just wrapped up! The grains of dirt in Morgan's hand, the trees on Corvus, and black stone walls showing Lyn's reflection looked amazing. I hope we get a trailer soon for what animated show comes next.

I think the Grand Inquisitor/Barris fight parallel is really interesting. It makes you wonder why each of them were perfectly able to avoid each lightsaber swing, and I think it's meant to symbolize conflict. in the first fight, she's definitely fighting like a Jedi but Bariss is absolutely conflicted about her past with the Jedi, and her future with the Empire. In that exchange, the Grand Inquisitor is avoiding almost every swing from her, because he is very determined and confident about his future, but he is not 100% certain. If you'll remember, he is actually afraid of something worse than death, when he chooses to die in Rebels. She finally bests him by choosing to give in to anger and support the current direction of the Empire. In episode 6, Bariss has accepted and doing everything she can to atone, allowing her (symbolically) to not get hit. Her resolve to reject the dark is unshakable. She's surprised to be stabbed later on, but it seems she's completely content with her path, and how that will affect 4th sister's journey back to the light. Similar theming was done in The Last Jedi's Luke VS. Kylo duel regarding Luke's acceptance of the past and Kylo's conflict and rage. I'm only talking about the subtext of these, not entirely saying that conflict directly relates to power level or anything lol, just how I think about these scenes

He was also in the other animated series: Star Wars Rebels. I like how Morgan's story tied into #TheMandalorian s2 ep5 #TheJedi. How BoKatan received the distress signal & sent Ahsoka to Corvus & find out what was going on. Star Wars/Lucasfilm should keep producing these #TalesOf anthologies. Great way to dig into background stories or ending any character's story, like Barriss Offee. To be fair, Barriss wasn't wrong. She was right. Bombing the Jedi temple wasn't the solution but her motivations where always that the Jedi became warmongering... Except, she now figured out that the Jedi weren't that bad, they were driven to by the war... But the alternative is so much more fucked up. And it is what the Jedi were trying to prevent by all means. She didn't choose to join the Empire, she didn't have a choice with that. And the first mission she did, she bailed.
@Heavensrun8 ай бұрын
I think you're misreading the whole situation in Episode 2. They aren't angry with her because the Empire isn't coming for their resources. The Empire IS coming for their resources. Even if they don't take the deal, they're coming for their resources. The issue with her leadership is that she's been ruling as a tyrant, working everyone to the bone, and the only justification she had for that was that it would pay off with later prosperity, that the Empire would recognize *their* value as citizens and that they'd be rewarded for their work and contributions. She came back with nothing. No promise of rewards for them. So they're not willing to forgive the oppressive working conditions. But they were already at the breaking point. Thrawn showing up and allying with her doesn't make their situation better in any way (It actually makes it worse) and they already don't trust her to care about their interests.

i'm a little confused on the timeline for the last episode. the empire is still using inquisitors which they stopped once they believed all if not most of the jedi where dead, so this couldn't be too many years later, but Barris seems to be a lot older while the other inquisitor lady seems to have not aged a day?

I was very confused on this as well, but someone brought up (which I find most likely) that Barriss has been using her life force to heal people, which is taking a lot out of her. My only complaint with this season (the Barriss story was AMAZING) was the Morgan story seems a little more disjointed than the other three stories (including the two in the Tales of the Jedi). Also, while I get its a popular viewpoint and matches Mando s3, Pallaeon at this point in the timeline is just a Captain under Thrawn, and IIRC from Thrawn Treason (the novel) wasn't even part of the fleet yet, as Thrawn didn't know him well but knew he was rather loyal and objective and relied on that. So its a slight alteration of canon, but not necessarily a bad one just another example of a small detail shift from the book to shows.

Forgot to say this before. For me the reason Bariss is not like Ahsoka is because she already have fallen to the dark side and this, watching Lyn killing innocents and trying to do the same with a Jedi who had surrendered, was the point she decided to come back to the Light Side and to the Jedi way. She had no doubts about her role. She doesn't need to agree with the old Order to be a Jedi. Meanwhile Ahsoka was stuck in denial about her role for decades. It took her getting Sabine as a Jedi Padawan and having that talk with Anakin for her to finally heal.

If Barriss died, they did it so strangely and anti-climactically that it would really be weird. Plus, it would be a total lack of respect for the character. Coming back after 11 years just to die... Plus, Lyn is currently a noname character; sorry, but 3 shorts are not enough, and we only cared about her character because of Barriss. In my opinion, Barriss survived. Yes, I know we have enough characters surviving lightsaber stabs, but in Barriss's case, it can be realistically justified: 1. In the episode 5, they showed her iconic ability - Force Heal. 2. Barriss was able to dodge Lyn's attacks and got hit by a completely random chaotic blow that killed her. That sounds strange already. 3. Barriss was focused on redeeming Lyn. My theory is that Barriss wanted to be stabbed or wanted to risk her own life. She knew it would redeem Lyn. Then Lyn tries to do something with her hands. Barriss takes her hand and places it on the wound. She also puts her own hand there. In my opinion, Barriss used Lyn's Force to heal herself, or Lyn was also a healer before becoming an Inquisitor, and Barriss tried to calm her. Offee naturally loses strength and consciousness, but Lyn calms down and pulls them both out of the cave. We as viewers can't see that stab. We don't know we can only speculate. This is very open ending (like in CW seson 5). In my opinion, Barriss survived. Otherwise, it would be silly because even now, if they wanted to show more of this character, she would get eternal plot armor. And the potential of this character is really huge, they shouldn't ruin it.

It’s where the format kinda wasn’t suited for her imo. She went through such massive character development between 5&6 that it was so out of left field and not rewarding. It’s a solid 7/10 tho, it’s good. It’s not as good as what came before with Dooku and Ahsoka tho.

I wish this show was about darth vader and Harris off not Morgan who could care about her 😂😂

I wanted Barriss to have something to say about Vader or like a moment of them alone or something, I feel she would know who he is from their fight and using the force.

I dunno if anyone else shares this opinion, but I kind of dislike how most Sith, especially recently, are just pure evil and hate. I feel like it’d be soooo much more interesting if we were introduced to a sith who wasn’t pure evil (mostly bad but not just pure evil) who focused on passion. Not just fear but passion and even anger
@kadegetslaid6348 ай бұрын
The entire point of the sith ideology is evil and hatered, there's darkside users that aren't as extreme, but sith are insane

I understand why they didn’t do it (because it’s incredibly dark what they they did to inquisitors in Inquisitor training) but it’s kind of strange that they didn’t break Barriss more and knock the Jedi out of her, especially as someone who was such a perfect candidate for being turned into an Inquisitor. (Maybe it was a flaw in the Inquistorious’s reasoning that they thought she wouldn’t need much convincing given her past actions 🤷♂️) That said Barriss still had an incredible story arc, even if not an arc as big as I assumed.

Y’know what, I agree with you on the villagers on Corvus. Morgan really did try to bring wealth by selling the TIE Defender project but no matter if she succeeds or fail, these people will still find a way to complain and turn on her. Then they complain about years of suffering even up to the Empire’s fall. Yeah no shit, you guys alienated the woman who could bring wealth to you after she had lost everything she held dear. They’re so annoying

I loved the episodes. But the last bariss and morgan episodes were kinda iffy. Baris cuz it was weird, Morgans cuz i feel like it wasn't really needed.

Welp Thrawn invented the Tie Defender program ; seems like Filoni retconned that Thrawn "invented" it which was in Star Wars Rebels the shows he himself created. Also proven by the video: "The Real Reason Thrawn Developed the TIE Defender! (Canon)" Interesting times.... Good Reaction Thou

Hated the direction they took Barriss. Can we just have a cool villain to oppose Ahsoka? Have her sit in a jail cell getting more and more bitter towards the Jedi and come gunning for them. Maybe they could've had her train some with Vader directly to make her more formidable. Nah. Boring.
@HarleyQuinn-vb5dm8 ай бұрын
Wow, I can't believe that I've only found one other person who agrees with me on how they fumbled Barriss' story. I've spent all this time thinking that she was gonna have a climatic final duel with Ahsoka, which would show how they each have evolved from Ahsoka's trial and how leaving the Order uniquely changed both of them. Or at the least she would do something that would piss Vader off enough that he kills her which I can't really think of anything but it would have to be a legitimate failure to make him mad enough. Oh, or they could have found a way to put her in Ahsoka season 2 like trying to hunt down Ahsoka for revenge maybe. I liked Morgan's story a lot more and it was handled so much better than Barriss'. And Tales of the Jedi S1 was on a whole just way better than Empire S1.

@@HarleyQuinn-vb5dm I actually like the direction they took Barris. Barris wasn’t actually evil, she just disagreed with the Jedi’s methods and foresaw Republic’s downfall. She wanted to help people but not by fighting in a war. She could’ve either held her ideals and fought the new establishment or adapt to times and embrace darkness. She was very much a character that could’ve gone either way and Tales of the Empire made sense for her character.
@HarleyQuinn-vb5dm8 ай бұрын
@@casualfanatic4217 you do realize that Barris bombed the Jedi temple by literally using a guy as said bomb and then she framed Ahsoka by force choking the guys wife Letta to death. And then she tried to kill Anakin. Yeah no she had all but turned to the Dark Side by that point. I can just about live with her redeeming herself in the end but not being killed by Vader just soured it for me. If you can't tell I don't like Barriss for all she did in Clone Wars, sue me.
@casualfanatic42178 ай бұрын
@@HarleyQuinn-vb5dmI remembered the bombing but I forgot she used a person as a bomb. Ok, so she wasn’t completely in the light. I say she was in the grey like Dooku. Both saw corruption and wanted to take action but Dooku being pushed by Palpatine took even more drastic measures and turned dark. Barris had time to herself to think about her actions and still wanted to help people. A story about Barris turning evil would’ve been more interesting but think this still made sense for her character.
@HarleyQuinn-vb5dm8 ай бұрын
@@casualfanatic4217 sorry but we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. She seemed to show no remorse for her actions at the trial and didn't even apologize to Ahsoka. Even if the events in TotE did make more sense, the way it was handled just didn't feel right. I hope they do better moving forward.
