My most memorable Fudd experience was with a gun store employee. Historically Fudd gun store (only carried lever actions, bolt actions, revolvers, and 1911’s for years) but in the few years leading up to this had broken through to offer just about anything you can imagine. Unfortunately, while they’d updated their stock, they did not update their employees. Guy that worked there was a hardcore Fudd. If it’s anything short of an M1A that takes a mag, he won’t even talk to you about it. I come in on my 18th birthday and pick up an AR rifle to check it out. He asks me if I’m 21. I tell him no and he says that I can’t even hold the rifle to look at it since I’m not 21 and can’t buy it. News flash dipshit, I can buy ANY rifle at age 18. I explain this and he’s just not having it. I get mad and drive 3 miles up the road to another gun store who actually knows the state laws and buy myself a nice AR. Since Fudd depot is on my way back home, I stop again and walk in with the rifle in the box. I place it on the counter and tell the guy that I was right and that it was totally legal for me to buy an AR as evidenced by the rifle in the fucking box that I just bought. He grumbles and spouts off some shit under his breath and says that the good gun shop better hope the ATF doesn’t audit them. Basically refusing to accept that he was wrong. Although I’ve heard that the Fudd no longer works at that shop, to this day I’ve never returned. That incident was 11 years ago. Moral of the story, don’t employ fudds. Shop owner lost a sale that day and countless ones over the years as a result.

Here is my Austrian Fudd Story: Introduction: I am in the Austrian Armed Forces (AAF) so I surely know my Glock 17. My private pistol is a Makarow though. I love both, but for privvate use I bought the Makarow, since I "own" a Glock in the military. I love Glock, dont get me wrong, but why should I buy it, if I have access to one already. Mind: Glock is Austrian, so most Austrian gun owners have a Glock. Story itself: I was at the range, someone next to me was shooting with a Glock (Gen 4 Glock 17, as he told me) starts asking me "Why did you buy a Makarow and not a Glock or something else thats better?" I reply, that I am a soldier and have a G17 there, but also like the Makarow - thats why I bought it for private use, which seems to hit a nerve. After some discussion about quality - I have worked at Glock factory for a month and have it in the military, so I am not a noob about this - we go back to shooting. Outcome: Me getting a better group than him, resulting in him not talking shit of my Makarow anymore.

A Ukrainian Makarov was almost my first gun. Had adjustable irons, both windage and elevation. Only reason I didn't buy it was I happened upon an Astra A-100 in .40S&W, and immediately fell in love. If you don't know what an Astra A-100 is, look it up on Wikipedia. The photo is my exact gun, as the entry had no photo prior to that, so I uploaded a pic of mine. 🙂

The Makarov is a fine pistol. You should have let him shoot it. Then he'd have bitched about the recoil, too. Since you're a fan: Check out the PA-63 from next door ,in Hungary.

I love how the guys complaining about the intro keep forgetting that we have _the power to skip ahead_ on KZbin. Two steps forward, ten backward on these Intertubes 🤣 keep it up, Mike. I may have to clean my Zastava a bunch to smooth out the action, but it'll be fun to attempt a "Mad Minute" dump with a Mauser-pattern if I'm ever unlucky enough to be stuck on a Fudd range.

My fudd story happened a few years ago at a local pawn and gun shop. Had a basically brand new and pristine condition Bulgarian makarov pistol behind the counter for only $169. I immediately played dumb and asked what it was, and the shop employee was like oh it’s just some cheap garbage European pistol someone had sold to them. I asked to look at it and upon examination, I can see the gun had not been shot much at all. No wear marks or anything. I was a happy customer that day.

I always love watching these. For what its worth, Ive got my hands on a German K98 8mm mauser and 7.7 Arisaka for free from an old guy who thinks those forien guns are garbage and American made wood and steel is the ultimate way to go. They need some love, but for zero funds, Il can handle getting them back up and going. Ill be showing them off on my own channel, to prove the validity of this story.

(Posted this on your last video, if it needs revision let me know) My all time biggest Fudd experience didn't even come from a gun enthusiast, it actually came from my aunt in law. So I was in up north Michigan with my grandparents and piblings (aunt n uncle), and I brought up how I want to start a local gun business and get my type 7 FFL so I can have post sample machine guns. My aunt in law proceeds to tell me that all machine guns are outright illegal and that the only people allowed to have them are government officials, law enforcement, and military vets (I cringed bad when she said that). So I respectfully asked her why Class IIIs, FFLs, and tax stamps exist. She then decides to burst at me about a story of how her dad "got caught with a machine gun" which my grampa told me about before hand. The story is, her dad was a gun manufacturer and he got narced on because one of his customers came with an AR and a Full Auto trigger group that he sold to the guy prior and asked him to put the two together. After he did that she had to see him go to court at the age of 4, and her being completely ignorant to the law figured that her dad was just in possession of illegal guns when in reality he completed that narc's intent to build a machine gun and I would guess 3rd party the registration through his name. My aunt thinks i'm making a mistake and i'll end up just like him, when I actually want to start an all around legal business and have fun with machine guns. So the new premise of this story is, just because someone else got narced on doesn't mean I will.

I've seen plenty of fudds and heard their comments on certain things but one that stood out to me the most was when I did a concealed carry class (I live in NC so it is a requirement in order to obtain a CC license). This class was taught in the instructor's kitchen, which I thought was a little weird but whatever, and the guy was an older gentleman so already I was a little worried that he might start saying some fudd things and of course when he starts talking about different pistols almost every single one he brings out is some variation of a 1911 (like 8 of them). At some point he pulls out a P38/P1 (I couldn't tell) and shows everyone the heel catch magazine release explaining that Europeans don't know how to fight so they make stupid magazine releases, but that Americans know how to fight and that's why the 1911 magazine release is better (holding up a 1911 comparing the two). I'm rolling my eyes at this point and just praying that this 8 hour class will just end already. The cherry on top was when he asked all of us to show him what weapon we brought for the shooting portion of the class. It was the usaul pistols you would think people own (glocks, S&Ws, etc) and the only female in the class brings out a H&K USP. I was pretty impressed that she had one but the instructor piped up immediately, "oh no honey, you can't shoot that. That there is a .45, girls can't shoot a .45. Here, you can borrow my .380." I was pretty done at this point and was just glad it was almost over. This is my only lengthy story of a fudd other than the typical gun show comments like "I know what I've got son".

I was lucky. The instructor for my class here in NC was an older gentleman. I thought he would be a fudd until he showed us videos of him and his daughter shooting a full auto mp5. He brought out glocks, beretta, S&W, etc. For us to qualify with if we didnt have our own gun. Really nice guy, actually bought my first pistol through him.

My first and luckily only fud story is when I took a vacation to see some family members that I haven't ever seen. I'm a northern Wisconsin native and I don't leave my area that much (Eagle River, Rhinelander, Tomohawk), and going down to Oshkosh was a bit of a trip for me as I haven't ever been to a town bigger than 10,000. I went to some of the local gun shops since this would be my only chance for a while to go to a different gun shop rather than the half a dozen that I normally go to. and nothing was much different compared to the shops up north, besides a lack of or overpriced ammo. One store did stand out from the rest, I forgot the name but remember .45 was in the name. I went in and the owner was some older gentlemen smoking a tobacco pipe. The store was pretty bare besides reloading equipment (with no gunpowder), and around 20 rifles caged up behind him. I went to talk to him. He seemed a bit off considering he wouldn't let me near the counter because of covid, and had some of those roped gateways around 4 feet in front of the counter. I told him I was just browsing but I was looking for a left-handed 308 rifle. He scoffed at me saying that "everyone can shoot right-handed" in a pretty condescending tone. I decided to buy a marlin 795 from him since it was only $80 because it came with no mag. He became a lot nicer after I bought it and I made some small talk with him. He talked about how he's sick of people talking about the boogaloo and that his 30-30 rifle could take out those innawoods types if SHTF. He then went on a rant about how "You only need a rifle" and "Those assault-style weapons won't stop me from shooting their asses from 700 yards away. I sort of just nodded thinking this guy is loony and politely told him that I have to leave and go with my family out for dinner. When I came back home I bought some 3 pro mags for the marlin for around $75 so I think I did pretty well, and luckily most gun owners including the older gents are pretty open-minded up here.

The fudd range is something I encountered recently, visited the range website before trucking over with my SKS and PSA AR, and bam, right there on the range rules, no rifles or pistols bigger than .22lr, no shotguns. Considering it's the closest range to me without have to drive an hour for a berm, I was pretty pissed.

I had a fun run-in with a fuddy seeming RSO. I was at a local range shooting my Norinco SKS and I got the usual "Why are you shooting that commie trash sonny. You don't 20 rounds, etc, etc" I ignored it and brushed him off like it was nothing. Another gentleman comes in and starts shooting his 1911 at the usual 1 round every 3 minutes fire rate you'd expect from those kind. The RSO comes back and says "I need something like that. Steel frame and low capacity note some commie assault weapon" I nodded in faux agreement and told him I had something that fit that bill perfectly. A Bulgarian Makarov PM. A nice steel framed 8+1 handgun. The RSO seemed to get incredibly pissed and had me escorted out for "safety reasons" probably worried my SKS would blow up or some BS.

I have a story; I was at my local range with my dad who was sighting in his rifle, a Winchester model 88 with a cheap fleet farm scope. I naturally got bored out of my mind watching a 50 year old man miss a piece of paper and cuss under his breath. I wanted to shoot my new pistol I had gotten for my birthday, a chunk of cheap off brand Tupperware known only to the youth as a Glock 17. So I walked my happy ass over to another open lane that happened to be next to Elmer fudd him fucking self, a 5'7" 200lb wisconsinite who probably lives off of Kwik trip pizza and Busch light, he was shooting his almighty pistol of mayhem and destruction, a 1911, and had his fleet farm special rifle on the table. Elmer looked at me, scoffed and said "those pistols are too small, why is someone like you carrying a tiny pistol like that?" I'm not a small man, 6'6" and 300lbs, so this full sized handgun looks like a toy in my hands, I said " I dunno, it was on sale" he responded with, a quick " you want to shoot a real gun?" I naturally said yes, he handed me his destroyer and looked in horror as his death machine was converted into a toy by simply entering my hand, I shot it a couple times and that's it. Thanks for reading, sorry that I didn't have some grand finale of us taking the beach under fire together and getting married 3 years later.

So, I'm at a Walmart gun counter with my dad, explaining to him what the various rounds are good for. Ya know, 308 and 30-06 for big game like deer, bear, etc. .22 for small game, squirrel, rabbit, etc. Then the gun counter worker, a big lady in like her 40s, comes over and starts talking about how .22 is great for deer. "It'll bounce around in its skull." And after pointlessly arguing for a few minutes, my dad and I left, and I had to explain to him that she was wrong, .22 is not "the best deer round," which took a good half an hour.

Back when I was a minor living in Illinois, we had a choice of two gun ranges. JRs Guns and some fudd range out in the "country". More out of town than out in the country. Anyway, the gun range was a members only deal but they'd have free weekends for people to shoot and try to get sponsors to join the club. So my dad took me and my Mini-14 out to the range for their free day. Only like two members actually showed up so I'm not sure how you were supposed to meet anyone to sponsor you to join. In order to shoot, you had to tell them what you brought and they'd assign you a lane and a shooting stance. Yup, couldn't do anything but shoot my rifle from a standing position. So, we staple the target up and get to shooting. With literally zero explanation of the rules from a member or staff member the two fudds start yelling at me for shooting too fast, not setting the rifle down between shots, and not picking up my brass. Of course, no one else had picked up their brass either. The old guy that was standing around watching people shoot spent the whole time complaining about AR-15s and people not joining the club. Then when I asked if he'd sponsor my dad and I to join, he said, "Nah, I don't think so. You're too young." And then immediately handed over paperwork to someone younger than me and his dad to join the club. It was also their first time there. So I never went back. About a year later, I moved to Iowa and got to shoot in my backyard whenever I wanted. But yeah, this one experience has soured me on members only gun ranges.

Not necessarily a negative fudd story but here's my one experience: Me and my dad shoot on our own land and were havin my uncle over to bring guns and shoot along with some of his friends. When they got there we were still getting ready and bringing stuff out so I had my $200 1944 turk mauser and my romanian parts kit built AKM slung on my shoulders. Almost as soon as they saw it they were asking what the bolt gun was one even saying it was an enfield, i told them it was a 1944 turkish mauser and one of the oldest guys starts going on about how thats worth alot and is a museum piece, I just went along with it and eventually someone asked about the AK which most people immediatly discounted as being cheap and wasnt worth nearly as much as the mauser. Also same old guy saying the mauser was worth so much also said he had a 100 yd range that he only used once a year to zero his deer rifle, fudds gonna fudd. Sorry for shit formatting, typing on a phone

Here is My Fudd Story I was visiting my Grandpa in Texas and he usually takes me to gun shows every time I visit. There was no gun show that weekend so he offered to take a Gun shop that had cool stuff. He was right they had a crazy selection. They had a 27,000 TrackingPoint rifle, Kriss vectors,Mp5s, Walther Q5 and a bunch of race guns and basically every gun you can think of. But the fudd owners were bragging about how they bought up all the ammo before the shortage. On top of that the had a 75 ffl transfer fee. We had to buy their overpriced 12ga target loads because all the other stores where out. We also got a couple of other things. When I got back home I looked at the receipt and they didn’t charge for the 2 flats(20boxes) of shells. That was a good day lol. Even though their are Fudds the vast majority of older people are not. I got to a lot of USPSA matches and the older people are always willing to help new/younger shooters. Every time I go to a match I learn something new. They are always happy to answer questions about gear. Their are always going to be bad people in every hobby. Just try to ignore them and have fun.

(ROs’ and Gun-Bunnies Agree, Rapid Fire FTW) . I usually avoid the local indoor range, like the plague. But there is one that does allow rapid fire IF the crowds are low, and IF you can demonstrate you “are being safe”. I went on a weekday, checked in, setup at the far end wall of the range and set to it. Had my GLOCK 30, put the paper at 7 yards, set the timer, (beep) pickup pistol, rack the slide, and proceeded to pump-out rounds as fast as I could, while still keeping a good-sized group, clear the pistol, reload the magazine, and wait a minute or two to get the heart rate back down, and repeat. (10 rounds, 230 ball, 4.75” groupings, at an average of 4.83 seconds.) The RO came over to observe, and by the third magazine, gave me the thumbs-up and walked away. . Bout 15 minutes later, a younger dude setup next to me, even though there were PLENTY of other open spots. Didn’t mind so much when I saw his girl, short-shorts, frayed ends, tank-top, sandals, you know… all the things you might NOT want to wear to a range. He’s dressed in a tank-top as well, but had the mind to wear sneakers. So “Jeep-boy” (more on that later) pulls out this SIG 9mm stainless long-slide, with a mag-well, and extended magazines. I lost a bit of respect for him as he put his Zombie target at 5 yards, but to each their own. I was “resting”, so I watched. His slow cadence of a train wreck. Shot 1: “T-ZONE” Shot 2: Miss, left of shoulder Shot 3: Left hand Shot 4: Liver By this time I was bored, and disappointed, so I hit my timer. (Beep) Rack, shoot 10 rounds, good group at 7 yards, average time. I cleared, and looked down, because I thought I saw something behind me, and his girl was looking at what I shot. (I’m married, but it was a good ego boost.) Jeep-boy was still on his first magazine, and his target looked like I shot it with #4 shot at 75 yards with a rifled barrel. Just bad. . So, waiting again, I reload, took a step back, relaxed, and wait for the dude to load another magazine. I let him get 10 rounds into his second magazine, when I hit the timer. Wash, rinse, repeat. Again, gun-bunny popped her head over to see. I load my last magazine, bring my target in to 5 yards so I was right next to Jeep-boy’s target, and wait. He’s between magazines, and messing with the sights on his pistol, so I go. But this time, I go a little slower (5.4-ish), I bring my target in, I look down to see Gun-bunny completely standing behind me and checking my work. Me-being -me, I pull a dip-can from my pocket, and cover my shots with said dip-can. Happy, I pack-up, say “good afternoon” to Mrs. Eye Candy, clean the stall, and walk out. . I take time to clean my pistol, in one of the side rooms, say goodbye to the staff as I leave. Annddd Jeep-boy is right behind me on the way out. He then climbs into a boat ramp Jeep. You know the ones. All decked out with a winch, off-road gear, riding on street rims and tires. The only dirt this thing sees is from passengers’ shoes. Like the poor SIG, it looks amazing, but doesn’t get used properly, because of the owner.

I've never understood the no rapid fire rule. I mean are they just afraid of people having a good time? It might make things a tad louder but if you have any ear pro in at all then that shouldn't be a problem. There are plenty of guns out there that you can't really rapid fire and are still loud as shit. I wonder what they would say about those. Thank god I have never been to one of those ranges.

Rules against rapid fire have nothing to do with technological change. Some ranges have them because of the fear that inexperienced shooters will get carried away and end up shooting target stands or other people's targets, etc.

About a year ago I decided to go to a gun show at the local fairgrounds. Didn't think I would find much since the place was so small, but I'm used to driving an hour so only 8 minutes was a no brainer. Once I'd paid the entry fee and got inside I strolled the aisles (all 3 of them) until I noticed an Enfield revolver, didn't know much about it as I wasn't into many guns earlier than the 50s. The gentleman at the table saw me eyeing it and decided to tell me about it. When I asked him to show me more he struggled to open it and said "I always had a hard time with it, not the man I used to be. Not sure if you could open it either, but if you want it, $250." I figured, screw it why not. Then I went to open it and had no problem. Turns out he just wasn't pushing the release far enough forward. He was kind of a dick, but I like the revolver enough so not a bad experience once it was all said and done.

What about the good old myth that old guns blow up after x amount of years. I've been to a gun shop multiple times and the old guy behind the counter wouldn't sell me a 70 year shotgun because his help wasn't there to test fire it. When you buy a gun from that store they always shoot a round to show you it works.

so does autism disqualify me from owning a gun? TBH ive talked to a ton of people in my state and some people my dad included say that I can't legally own a gun cuz of my autism but others say its fine and dandy including a quick google search, but im wondering if there are any videos that go into depth on missouri gun laws? My first name is Seth IRl, but im wanting to collect various weapons including historical ones and newer ones. (so far im a shotgun guy so I feel that a KSG would be perfect for not only hunting/sports shooting but also for home defense, self defense and the defense of the community in and around kansas city at large.) So im looking to see if I can legally own fire arms. Im also wondering where can I get the absolute best deals? Also a quick rundown of my dream collection! AK12(and maybe an RPK even if their semi auto only id still own em) FAL KSG FN57 FNH Ballista(those things are hella expensive) m1 garand(yes I call it garand don't hate me) Lee enfield Maybe a 1911 or a makerov, but you get the point I wanna get into weapon collecting! Besides guns some other stuff I wanted to own Fire axe, a few knives/machetes English longbow! a cutlass and a saber and last but not least cuz im an egdy boi, a katana. TBH I can imagine fudds hating me to the core just by the fact I grew up with video games and video games are what really got me into guns!

And I just don’t understand why someone would complain about not knowing what a fuss is and maybe not scroll to the first video where typically an explanation would be. But I guess that’s expecting too much of some members of our society, unfortunately.

Some people really don’t understand the definition of fudd. I like revolvers more than auto loaders and I generally have an appreciation for the classics. I normally carry a j frame and because of this- I’ve sometimes been called a fudd. That’s when I ask these people- what’s their definition of fudd? I don’t rapid fire because I like to shoot regularly and ammo’s too expensive right now. I like to take my time and make every shot count. The ammo situation is getting better, but it could get worse overnight and I don’t want to waste it. But I don’t care how fast other people shoot with their ammo and I think having to count a certain number of seconds between shots is just dumb!! I also have zero desire to buy an AR pistol with the brace and I don’t own one- but that didn’t stop me from commenting on the AFT’s website and I donate every month to the GOA because I think they actually promote our 2A Rights. Just because somebody doesn’t like Glocks doesn’t automatically make them a fudd.
