This week’s Urban Valor episode features Marine Scout Sniper veteran, Luke Hamilton. Luke was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. His love for the outdoors inspired him to join the Marines. Luke signed up for the infantry and quickly became a Scout Sniper. He talked about at least a dozen Taliban fighters getting eliminated after attacking Marines and running towards his team of Scout Snipers while conducting combat missions in Afghanistan. Luke owns “Sinner Mass” where they build custom guns and do pretty much everything else related to firearms.
Please show Luke your support as he courageously shares his story!

Very similar story! Mom wasn't there and my dad was a p.o.s. grew up hunting and fishing and playing army. Had so much pent up anger and hate towards life. My 18th birthday I enlisted in the army with a opt40 contract. Fast forward 7 years and I had 5 combat deployments with A co. 2/75. 1 to Iraq and 4 to Afghanistan. I was so lost and mad at the world for how my child hood was, but looking back at it now I know it was all for a reason. My entire life up to that point was preparing my for ranger battalion and it made me very good at being a ranger. Godspeed brother! I love you

I know this man,I was in Iraq and Afghanistan from 04-2014 1 RST MARINE RAIDER BATTALION MARSOC DET 1 mos 0372 the female pilot he's talking about was LT.HEGAR (MARY JENNINGS HEGAR ) the only pilot my team would use no matter how bad it was she would land and get us she had no fear,The man in this video I believe pulled over watch for us in Helmand province and Kandahar 09-2010 and I believe he's the one who shot the sniper that killed our doc (call sign was DOC VOODOO) We were assisting a ranger squad a sniper shot a ranger our doc went to help and got shot in the throat,I'd give anything to do another 16 years in the Marines if I could best days of my life

Cool story to hear thanks for sharing! Also the pilot sounds like a badass! Looking up her role in politics I'm finding republican articles "politician pulling her veteran card" to further her career, but you saying that seems like why tf would she not. Good for her, read more about her and she should be proud of her service and sounds like she'd be better in politics than many who haven't served.

Haven't had a chance to test if it holds zero, but mounts just fine and has nice clear glass. Centered vertically true to a plumb line with the crosshairs which is always a plus! It's a great kzbin.infoUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope. There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range. Also be aware that the rings are "look through" so you can still use irons, but they are really tall if you only intend to use the optics. On a 22LR no biggie since I'm not shooting competitions or worried about a hard cheek press. Will boresight and range test, if all goes well, I'll leave it at that!

I was in Afcrapistan in 2010. When you said it feels like a different life, it’s so true. I was on a shitty PB but I remember a couple days where we didn’t get shot at for like 3-4 days. I said “I hope we get shot at today” my buddy said “why” my reply “so I remember that I still want to be alive”. It also makes you realize how random things are. Like I stepped over an IED at night I didn’t see. But then some EOD guys get blown up trying to neutralize IEDs they know are there

Damn when he talks about flashbacks kinda gave me goosebumps. My first was seeing a burned up jeep Cherokee. Just for a second I was back in Iraq. It scared me cuz my kids were in the truck with me. The second one was very close to what he said. I was walking my mom down to her car at night. It was humid and a dog was barking in a distance. Just a second I was back there.

My dad served 3 tours in Iraq from 2003-2005 & one day we were at work ( I was helping on my day off, I own my own business; beside the point ) but, we were walking out to the truck to go get lunch & he heard the grounds crew outside packing the dirt for the parking lot he ran back inside. As I ran after him ( not thinking ) I finally found him after 10-15 min of looking I said " hey, what's going on you okay? " He responds " yeah that ground packer, sounded like the chopper I used to ride on gave me a flash back of Iraq " that shit is real, that frightened me bc I didn't understand what was going on until AFTER the fact. Great video, thanks for sharing. I served during the Viet-nam war, so I can identify with what he says about things. I come from a military family going back many generations, so hearing this interview sounds so much like the menfolk relating to their experiences. The one uncle who served in Pacific theater in WW2 never talked about his Marine Corps experiences. As a kid, not knowing any better, I asked him one day what he did in the war. He kind of stared off into space a few moments then quietly replied, " I survived." He never said anymore about his war experience. Semper Fi devil dogs.

Thank you for your service Tony, as well as your story. Agreed completely with what you, and sometimes, just the thought and memories put you into a tunnel vision of "memories" that you can easily get lost in. 'Do you miss the military?' I would say probably 90% of guys miss that period in their lives. I have been out for over 20 years and I remember it like it was yesterday. Luckily, one of my sons is in and I work with a lot of veterans, so I still get to kind of relate to guys who serve. It is primarily the comaraderie and the close bonds you make that factor in the most. I would say the mission is also a factor, we had great missions and played a pivotal part in all the combat operations I took part in. For any young guys/girls out there contemplating joining, I can't emphasize enough how much it will change you for the better. Military life will make you better in so many ways, some quite subtle, some very obvious. As I observe my son and his continued service, I see a mature man who is organized and lives life with purpose. Even if you join for a short tour of duty, you will be better for it. Great post! Semper Fi ....

I never served but I was a cop for 15 years. Crossfire was a big deal in my training. Listening to your first mission in Afghanistan where you were positioned behind the enemy with the convoy on the other side of the enemy. Yes, bad for the enemy but my first thought was CROSSFIRE!! I figured you guys were nested but still thought that might be kinda dicey because you're down range from the convoy fire! Respect and love from an appreciative American. My Dad is Viet Nam Vet with a purple heart. I regret not serving. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the USMC.

Sort of informative. (Disclaimer: I was a Marine re-assigned from mos 0351 to 8541 Scout-sniper during my tour in RVN, so there's some familiarity with the story line.) It took the young Marine a few minutes to get his head onto the track. His story is real similar to a lot of the young Marine snipers I have talked to who were in Iraq, after the heavy shit in Fallujah, and the first operations. Like SEALS, the Marine shooters spent a lot of time waiting. Afghanistan, like he explains, was a different bag, for snipers. Funny guy, got a good attitude.

My brother served 91-17 with 6 combat deployments. He flew AH-46 before flying opsrey. He preferred the 46 over the opsrey.

Absolutely outstanding Marine, Luke. Semper Fi....Old grunt Jarhead 0331, and although I was never Billeted, I went through 2nd MarDiv SSS in '84. Gunny Hathcock spoke and met with us all at Graduation. Imagine my shock when I recently heard The Corps is killing the program?! No Surveillance or Overwatch, because some POG Officer has decided SS are not "productive" enough to the Marine Corps mission at Batt level... My God 🤬

That's a great piece of advice to youngsters who want to go into the military or, of course, try to be in special forces etc. I think a lot of young guys "want the T-Shirt" just as you put it. They're mostly pretty young and ignorant as to how grueling some of the training is. They arrive wherever to be whatever and it's like BOOM they're in shock. I agree with how you put it that "there is no special sauce or secret", it's either in you or it isn't. That won't make sense to a lot of folks but it's true.

It so crazy to hear the difference of pre 2005 marines, and after 2005 marines. This guy seems like he is sugar coating a lot of shit about his training and iraq deployment. There is a for sure gap in the age group. The guys you interviewed that were from the 2000-2004 era seem WAAAAAY more legit and honest about their service.

Those were the good days in the 90s were you just roam around and have the time of your life lol. I was like 7 when I started roaming my neighborhood. I was cool with the Irish kids, Italians and Haitian kids. So I always had someone to play with or go hunting for snakes which was my favorite thing to do. Than we would have to find salamanders or worms to feed the snakes lol. We would also collect spiders and feed them ants or make them fight each other. One time we put bees and flys in a coke bottle and the bees completely destroyed the flys lol. They would pick them up and slam them. Pretty cool for a kid to see that lol. I miss those days man, nobody would even think about messing with me because all the older kids protected the young kids!
